Farewell Brodie Grundy
Next season we hopefully have Gawn with out his ankle injury & the ongoing affects & also his groins were shot so basically he had trouble running & jumping. Iâve also had conversations with Collingwood supporters (not the nuffies) & they def donât want to lose Grundy. As one said âyou build clubs around players like Gawn & Grundy ..not De Goeyâsâ.

FINALS 2022: Week 03
Yeah ..they played like we did last year ..injury free..no pressure âŠyoung players running on top of the ground. Letâs see how they back it up next year ..

CASEY: Grand Final vs Southport
He got caught up in a boot lace & twisted his knee which turned out to be fine. He got stomped on his foot in first quarter & if you watched the game âŠnever took another mark. I would say that since he still has a metal plate in his foot ..there was probably bruising etc . Long shot to say he has re-injured his foot . No point playing him though âŠnot worth the risk !

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
I thought we looked like a âtired old bullâ last night . We have played through a lot of adversity this year ..apart from the obvious of being the hunted & the hardest draw it has been injuries & the quality of our bottom 6. Last season the majority of these were our younger players but then ANB also had a season which was exemplary. This year our younger players are playing tired or injured ..ANB has been very average & we have had major injuries to key players namely TMac..Salem & Gawn & then JJ who would be handy next week. Whilst TMac probably wonât play ..there is also no way Salem & Gawn arenât playing under duress & possibly quite a few others. If we had had a fit JSmith or Weid in form it would have helped enormously but we didnât & the reality is our game plan looks average because a lot of players are playing in different roles. BBrown has been valiant but his strength is not the role he has been forced to play & we play Gawn & Jacko the way we do because Gawn is great but canât do it all & Jacko has had an average season ..playing injured..& maybe his head not in it but I think he is part of our younger brigade that have not reached the same levels of last year. I donât aspire to throwing young key players into the fray just because we are so average up forward âŠVFL is a long way from AFL standard. I think our top talent has kept us in games & we have battled so hard & itâs a credit to finish 2nd. I would love to think we can flick a switch & play like we did last year in finals but not so sure we can do it this year. Hope we do. However still think our future is incredibly bright & if itâs not this year Iâm extremely confident weâll be contesting next year !

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
We drafted him for 3 years âŠto paraphrase GoodyâŠto turn him into a MFC playerâŠhis expectations wouldnât have been to play many AFL gamesâŠanother preseason & we will see if heâs up to it. He wonât be jumping ship because this is what he wants

ROAD TO THE GRAND FINAL
Itâs interesting..Ginivan with 7 positions in a half against Sydney is subbed out with hamstring strain & is replaced by C. Brown who has 14 in a half âŠbut Ginivan fronts up against Carlton the following week & is instrumental in the win against them. Funny things these hamstring strains !!

The Luck of the Draw
Have no problem having a harder draw or hardest actuallyâŠitâs where we play those games âŠtravelling to Geelong when I think we were 1 & 2 on the ladder & also not being at the G for 6 games in a row. Donât think weâve been respected as reigning premiers âŠ

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
2 Coleman medallistâs..15 shots on goal .4 goals kickedâŠgame over!! (& we complain about our goal kicking )

ROAD TO THE GRAND FINAL
Probably because they are taking into account that Geelong get no real benefit of finishing first (no home final) so they are making it easier to get up and back the highway for their supporters

ROAD TO THE GRAND FINAL
Parley will be good to go if he passes protocols (according to Syd supporters)

Is our offense a problem?
Quoting Max GawnâŠlast year âŠâwe donât even look at last yearâ. Totally differentâŠ(I agree) Going from hunting to âhuntedâ is a big difference to start with!

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
Did the blues play their GF against us last week ??

Is our offense a problem?
Actually you donât think itâs more to do with the building of form into the finals footy that Goodwin coaches us to play? The coaches & the players have had to contend with 17 other coaches who would have studied us ad nauseam in the off season so whilst sticking to the ânuts and boltsâ of our game plan they would have tweaked and adjusted according to who we play & what personnel were available. No use showing the rest of the comp our finished product before finals. Clever coach Goodwin

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
To all the naysayers out there âŠthis is our game. To paraphrase âBinmanâ ⊠listen to Goody in his pressers âŠhe is or has built a team for finals footy . You donât play that footy during the year âŠespecially this year as we were also the hunted . Doesnât mean we will win âback to backâ but we will leave everything out there. So proud of that effort tonight & hope the disrespectful media contingent has a good look at themselves . I expect our pessimistic supporterâs will no doubt have heaps of criticismâs but a superb performance Dees đâ€ïž

Clarko to Norf
I found that very interesting as well. Arguably we have been a basket case & then won a premiershipâŠyou would think weâre the first club heâd speak to. Again I think it harks back to an amazing lack of respect by the media in general to the reigning premiers.

Footy Classified
I stopped watching the footy shows because they have become irrelevant. Since our 10 game streak has stopped âŠwe have had very little respect considering we havenât been out of top 4 all year and are the reigning premiers. Now even when we win.. I have zero interest in watching these show âŠjust by reading DL you can pick up what is said if interested:â Itâs all about egoâs â- & click bait â media.!

TEAMS: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
And maybe because heâs plays mostly in the AFL ⊠is a seasoned senior player & has missed a couple of games due to concussion & VFL byes so has had a mini break with the body. Would have zero worries on his fitness . As an AFL team ⊠we have def played of 5 day breaks & if he wants to play finals âŠno brainer on effort!

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Itâs what you think we could have done betterâŠ.I havenât read/heard from any coach/player that it was preferred option ? My point was unnecessary nit picking.

Veil of Negativity
What frustrates me enormously is the many supporters who find issues & faults in our game when we win. There was a great podcast from Johnathan Brown who talked about the issues facing teams when they are trying to go back to back. It certainly put a lot of things into perspective for me. Also game (AFL) is made up of brilliant playâŠmany mistakes (especially under pressure) thatâs what provides excitement . As many bemoan what our players did wrong âŠwhat would Carlton be saying about the kick to Saad which forced him to play onâŠthe spilled mark by Newnes⊠the fact that Melky marked over 4 key defenders âŠthe three Carlton defenders of whom one should have marked the ball on the wingâŠI could go on! My point being both teams gave it all âŠfinals type pressure & we won. Iâd be happy to win a GF that way & Iâm sure all our supporters would. Fact is our brilliant football last year was in the finals & the lead up games were against far lower oppositionâŠwe have been playing other teams GFâs for most of the year.

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Canât understand why you bring that upâŠwe won.
