  1. Yes we’ve had that discussion as well
it’s pretty big $
and hawks are still offering him the opportunity to go into the midfield..two things we are not. So
not sure..I mean Bobby Hill is off to Collingwood after their history which is a lot more recent

  2. We were his 2nd choice but he wants to play more midfield which we wouldn’t offer and also we wouldn’t match the Hawks $
  3. Next season we hopefully have Gawn with out his ankle injury & the ongoing affects & also his groins were shot so basically he had trouble running & jumping. I’ve also had conversations with Collingwood supporters (not the nuffies) & they def don’t want to lose Grundy. As one said “you build clubs around players like Gawn & Grundy ..not De Goey’s”.
  4. Yeah ..they played like we did last year ..injury free..no pressure
young players running on top of the ground. Let’s see how they back it up next year ..
  5. He got caught up in a boot lace & twisted his knee which turned out to be fine. He got stomped on his foot in first quarter & if you watched the game
never took another mark. I would say that since he still has a metal plate in his foot ..there was probably bruising etc . Long shot to say he has re-injured his foot . No point playing him though
not worth the risk !
  6. I thought we looked like a “tired old bull” last night . We have played through a lot of adversity this year ..apart from the obvious of being the hunted & the hardest draw it has been injuries & the quality of our bottom 6. Last season the majority of these were our younger players but then ANB also had a season which was exemplary. This year our younger players are playing tired or injured ..ANB has been very average & we have had major injuries to key players namely TMac..Salem & Gawn & then JJ who would be handy next week. Whilst TMac probably won’t play ..there is also no way Salem & Gawn aren’t playing under duress & possibly quite a few others. If we had had a fit JSmith or Weid in form it would have helped enormously but we didn’t & the reality is our game plan looks average because a lot of players are playing in different roles. BBrown has been valiant but his strength is not the role he has been forced to play & we play Gawn & Jacko the way we do because Gawn is great but can’t do it all & Jacko has had an average season ..playing injured..& maybe his head not in it but I think he is part of our younger brigade that have not reached the same levels of last year. I don’t aspire to throwing young key players into the fray just because we are so average up forward
VFL is a long way from AFL standard. I think our top talent has kept us in games & we have battled so hard & it’s a credit to finish 2nd. I would love to think we can flick a switch & play like we did last year in finals but not so sure we can do it this year. Hope we do. However still think our future is incredibly bright & if it’s not this year I’m extremely confident we’ll be contesting next year !
  7. We drafted him for 3 years
to paraphrase Goody
to turn him into a MFC player
his expectations wouldn’t have been to play many AFL games
another preseason & we will see if he’s up to it. He won’t be jumping ship because this is what he wants
  8. It’s interesting..Ginivan with 7 positions in a half against Sydney is subbed out with hamstring strain & is replaced by C. Brown who has 14 in a half
but Ginivan fronts up against Carlton the following week & is instrumental in the win against them. Funny things these hamstring strains !!
  9. Have no problem having a harder draw or hardest actually
it’s where we play those games
travelling to Geelong when I think we were 1 & 2 on the ladder & also not being at the G for 6 games in a row. Don’t think we’ve been respected as reigning premiers

  10. 2 Coleman medallist’s..15 shots on goal .4 goals kicked
game over!! (& we complain about our goal kicking )
  11. 9.00am Tuesday morning (23rd)
  12. Probably because they are taking into account that Geelong get no real benefit of finishing first (no home final) so they are making it easier to get up and back the highway for their supporters
  13. Parley will be good to go if he passes protocols (according to Syd supporters)
  14. Quoting Max Gawn
last year
”we don’t even look at last year”. Totally different
(I agree) Going from hunting to “hunted” is a big difference to start with!
  15. Omg
understatement
the Pies are by far the worst oppo club ever !!!!!
  16. Did the blues play their GF against us last week ??
  17. Actually you don’t think it’s more to do with the building of form into the finals footy that Goodwin coaches us to play? The coaches & the players have had to contend with 17 other coaches who would have studied us ad nauseam in the off season so whilst sticking to the “nuts and bolts” of our game plan they would have tweaked and adjusted according to who we play & what personnel were available. No use showing the rest of the comp our finished product before finals. Clever coach Goodwin
  18. To all the naysayers out there
this is our game. To paraphrase “Binman”
listen to Goody in his pressers
he is or has built a team for finals footy . You don’t play that footy during the year
especially this year as we were also the hunted . Doesn’t mean we will win “back to back” but we will leave everything out there. So proud of that effort tonight & hope the disrespectful media contingent has a good look at themselves . I expect our pessimistic supporter’s will no doubt have heaps of criticism’s but a superb performance Dees đŸ’™â€ïž
  19. I found that very interesting as well. Arguably we have been a basket case & then won a premiership
you would think we’re the first club he’d speak to. Again I think it harks back to an amazing lack of respect by the media in general to the reigning premiers.
  20. I stopped watching the footy shows because they have become irrelevant. Since our 10 game streak has stopped
we have had very little respect considering we haven’t been out of top 4 all year and are the reigning premiers. Now even when we win.. I have zero interest in watching these show
just by reading DL you can pick up what is said if interested:’ It’s all about ego’s “- & click bait “ media.!
  21. And maybe because he’s plays mostly in the AFL
is a seasoned senior player & has missed a couple of games due to concussion & VFL byes so has had a mini break with the body. Would have zero worries on his fitness . As an AFL team
we have def played of 5 day breaks & if he wants to play finals
no brainer on effort!
  22. It’s what you think we could have done better
.I haven’t read/heard from any coach/player that it was preferred option ? My point was unnecessary nit picking.
  23. What frustrates me enormously is the many supporters who find issues & faults in our game when we win. There was a great podcast from Johnathan Brown who talked about the issues facing teams when they are trying to go back to back. It certainly put a lot of things into perspective for me. Also game (AFL) is made up of brilliant play
many mistakes (especially under pressure) that’s what provides excitement . As many bemoan what our players did wrong
what would Carlton be saying about the kick to Saad which forced him to play on
the spilled mark by Newnes
the fact that Melky marked over 4 key defenders
the three Carlton defenders of whom one should have marked the ball on the wing
I could go on! My point being both teams gave it all
finals type pressure & we won. I’d be happy to win a GF that way & I’m sure all our supporters would. Fact is our brilliant football last year was in the finals & the lead up games were against far lower opposition
we have been playing other teams GF’s for most of the year.
  24. Can’t understand why you bring that up
we won.
