  1. Agreed...an extremely high footy IQ & you can’t teach that. If he had kicked even half of his missed goals this would be an entirely different thread. He took Maynard out of the game against the Pies & played a brilliant defensive role against Nick Haynes who I thought was one of GWS best players this year.
  2. Who still has a bottle of the Woewodin port in their liquor cabinet ?
  3. Agreed...I’m pretty sure that Brisbane played outside Qld twice & had a very healthy list & ditto Port who spent most of their time in Adelaide with 2 home finals & a full list to pick from. Both teams will never have this advantage again & yet neither are playing in a GF. We on the other hand travelled all over Aust & played at the most stadiums. Hopefully this will hold us in good stead next season. Go Cats (not sure I mean that but anything better than Richmond)
  4. From someone who was there ...with coach (bus) issues ...we arrived about an hour before Sydney game !!
  5. So harsh on Jones & McDonald. I’ve just watched reply & without the emotion you can be more measured in your comments. Sure Jones coughed up some crucial disposals but he sure wasn’t alone there. Apart from those there was nothing wrong with his game. Oscar is so maligned ....I think the Saints forwards got maybe 4 goals & Oscar wasn’t responsible for one. The goal Membrey got ...he couldn’t have done a lot with that. He at different stages covered Membrey/Ryder & Marshall. Even when May was on Marshall in the last part of the game he was out marked twice. He also allows May & Lever play their game. For those who stated without May & Trac we would have lost...how many times has Dusty, Danger,Fyfe & to a lesser extent Bont dragged their teams over the line. That’s what X factor players do & we finally have one. We did to the Saints what Geelong did to us ...it was ugly but we won. One of the best games from Tomlinson & thought Vanders last qrt was pretty good. We are a young team in terms of building synergy but we have a core of I believe 15 straight up best 22...it’s working who our bottom 6 are & with a healthy list we will play around a bit with that. Anyway I will always err on the side of positivity because I’m so sick of the repetitive boring negativity. Go Dees ?❤️?❤️?
  6. I’d much prefer to beat teams either in the eight or vying for the eight than beat up on teams whose seasons are finished. What confidence would we have in our team with that type of form ?
  7. So I guess you now don’t rate Port...Saints & GWS as plenty of “soft underbellies “ in those 3 games ?
  8. Grundy to me has looked tired the last couple of games & after a four day break will def not be the Grundy of old. They are also missing 4 key players ...I’d be disappointed if we don’t put them away even without Gawn.
  9. I’d give Gawn another weeks rest. Grundy is enormous but not at hitting it to his mids ...Treloar out & be surprised if they risk Pendlebury. Gawn is pretty sore & Collingwood are pretty beat up & will be coming off a 4 day break !
  10. Weather looks good for Thursday. Would definitely consider a 3rd tall as Ports defence is a bit undersized. Otherwise I think Harmes needs a break & maybe even Bennell a rest given the 4 day turnaround but again don’t want heaps of changes. We do have some seriously good depth. Jetta shouldn’t play regardless of form...two head knocks even if he kept playing ....I would leave him out.
  11. Maybe change your wording slightly....not same old problems ...we played an inform team coming off an amazing 2019 & continuing that form into 2020. We had some very easy misses...& a couple of lapses in the discipline area. But our intent was good ....Jackson...Langdon...Lever & May are continuing to get better as is an 18 yr old Kozzie and an older Bennell. The disappointment for me was the form of Harmes (all year actually) the inconsistency of Brayshaw & sadly maybe someone like Jetta nearing the end. We have a lot of depth which we will see over the next few weeks & I for one am cautiously optimistic. Thought this game was 50/50 but think we should beat Port Adelaide. No excuses there !
  12. Lockhart’s pressure acts speak for themselves. For such a young player his pressure act around player & ball are excellent. His disposal efficiency when he does get the ball is also excellent . I’m not sure if you have the AFL live app but you can go to AFL Pro & click on any player & watch their possessions for the game. Lockhart’s reads well so need to persevere as he will definitely get better. Sometimes it isn’t just about possessions!
  13. With a lot of games to probably be played in a short period of time plus our extra game ...a lot of our surplus players will definitely be played as we manage players & their loads. We have a healthy list but we will definitely be changing our 22 over the next few weeks. Pretty confident that if our main core stays healthy we will still improve & develop ...
  14. Kozzie has the X factor that makes you go wow & most of the X factor players are indigenous. How lucky are we with Kozzie & Bennell in the one side to provide that !!!
  15. Happy to go with Jackson ...whoever we would have picked won’t be the difference between winning & losing this game. We totally have the team to beat Hawks & I’d be hard pressed to find a reason for us to lose this. This game is on the players ...definitely not the coach & coaching panel!!
  16. I wouldn’t describe my comments as “venomous” or “fanatical “. Of course at times other teams are good to watch & certain “oppo” players are very good to watch. I just don’t agree with your analogy. But...hey...different things must make certain people ...feel satisfied! I also think with a great deal of certainty that no way will the Blues win a flag before us or even win a flag ...
  17. Good on you! Should we all pat you on the back now? Love the supporters we have who seem happier to be happy with themselves when they denigrate the team they supposedly follow !!
  18. Goodwin explained that players like Kosi...Vanders & Hannan weren’t available & now they are he has to work harder to get a game. He isn’t the great white hope & after all the heartbreak he has had with his calves ...I’m happy to go with the fitness team & play him when he’s ready ...
  19. Didn’t Steele get picked up before 7.30 am by police...I’d suggest a bit more than a six pack of beer !!
  20. I took a bit of time & had a good look at the team & the experience out there Backline: S May - 2019 - 8 games .-2020- 3 Lever - 2019- 8 (not all played with May) 2020 3 Smith -2017.3 2018-9 2019-0 2020 -3 Rivers -3 Lockhart -2019 12 2020 - 2 J Harmes- playing in new position .... E Langdon & Tomlinson ...3 games M Hannan - 2019 6 games - 2020 1 J Melksham -2019 12 games 2020 3 Vandenberg -2019 -0 games 2020 - 1 Pickett - 2 So 11 players have played very little football or had a severely impacted 2019. So yes we had an excellent pre season & now have 40 fit players. However how can you possibly expect a team to run out & be slick & polished when they HAVE to build confidence in each other & under game day conditions. Anyone who says they didn’t have a crack must obviously have watched another game. The team is vastly different than 2018 but I believe it will be a lot better! The coaches have to find the best team ...no proper VFL games to trial players but they also have to get games into all these players who are either new or have been injured. So why don’t we cool our jets & get a bit positive because it will turn. I definitely thought May & Lever looked better & Tom McDonalds game was also a definite improvement. He also only played 15 games last year. We all know how life has affected us ... footballers are people too ! Lever
  21. Just projecting a theory ...if ESS does lose their back 7 players & plays their next 2 games with a severely compromised team with the likelihood of 2 wins & massive % booster for their opponents ...what does that mean for the MFC who have had their game postponed & then will possibly have to play later in the season off shorter breaks to very likely a full strength ESS team . If this happens then it is definitely a truly “compromised” season !
  22. You could have had 100 goal seasons in the past but that means nothing if you’re not kicking them in the present season. If anything it’s even more unacceptable for Cameron because of his past history!
  23. At the moment...Jeremy Cameron says hi ?it is & will be a bizarre season ...let’s give the players a bit of leeway for a few weeks ...
