  1. 6 - Viney ( 4 excellent quarters ) 5 - Hogan ( intelligent game and took marks at both ends ) 4 - Tyson ( looked to be moving freer and disposal was effective for the most part ) 3 - Dawes ( his bad is rotten, but today he had a positive impact) 2 - Gawn ( didn't break even but wasn't disgraced by the best in the league ) 1 - M. Jones ( far from pretty to watch but he provided some good run)
  2. N.Jones - looked surprisingly lethargic Dunn - some uncharacteristic turnovers Hogan - a commanding presence Watts - not on game Dawes - season's best performance Viney - bullocking and effective Lumumba - hit and miss Brayshaw - limited on flank Gawn - far from disgraced Tyson - finally on track Cross - played important role Garland - loose and lethargic Michie - just a game Vince - disappointingly well held McDonald - never imbued confidence Neal- Bullen - provided some life Grimes - loose and slow Garlett - mistakes proved costly Howe - did just enough Jetta - no heroics today M.Jones - surprisingly provided run Harmes - rough, not ready
  3. 6 - Vince ( blanketed Pendlebury and won his own ball all day) 5 - Gawn ( continued his stellar run of performances ) 4 - Viney ( what a workhorse and has erased careless errors from his game ) 3 - Cross ( as long as he doesn't kick he can play for a number of years more) 2 - Hogan ( always a target and rarely let his teammates down) 1 - Dunn ( I don't recall him making an error)
  4. Jones - dynamic when needed Dunn - unstoppable in defence Hogan - constantly provided target Watts - dynamic link man Dawes - tried but clumsy Viney - wonderful tagging game Lumumba - dynamic and safe Brayshaw - great second half Tyson - lethargic and wasteful Cross - outstanding tagging role Garland - excellent defensive drive Michie - just lacked nous Vince - another wonderful game McDonald - was rarely noticed Neal-Bullen - failed to impose Grimes - better second half Garlett - just a cameo Howe - finally 4 quarters Jetta - displayed great endeavour vandenBerg - tough and disciplined Harmes - made an impression Gawn - knows he belongs
  5. 6 - Viney ( took the right options and smothered an important opponent ) 5 - Vince ( racked up possessions and restricted an important opponent ) 4 - Gawn ( great first half ) 3 - Grimes ( made mistakes but backed himself successfully) 2 - Jones ( best of the rest) 1 - Dunn( was rarely beaten)
  6. Jones - same old same Dunn - was rarely beaten Hogan - terrible body language Watts - poor decision making Dawes - provided no target Viney - heart and soul Lumumba - some occasional bursts Brayshaw - had no zip Gawn - great first half Tyson - no spatial awareness Stretch - needs a break Cross - slow decision making Garland - was he playing? Michie - has no tricks Vince - continued extraordinary resurgence McDonald - some dumb decisions Grimes - repeated same mistakes Garlett - was totally smothered Howe - took easy options Jetta - horrible decision making vandenBerg - successive poor games Harmes - hasn't shown much
  7. 6- Gawn ( excellent tap work and strong marking ) 5 - Dunn ( composed and safe all game ) 4 - Hogan ( 4 goals and involvement around the ground) 3- Howe ( actually made some second efforts and was a great springboard from attack) 2- Cross ( would have scored more but for the continued butchering of disposals) 1 - Jetta ( made some important interceptions and tackled superbly)
  8. N.Jones - was well held Dunn - continued outstanding season Hogan - provided attacking focus Watts - quiet but useful Dawes - great first quarter Viney - brilliant tagging game Lumumba - polished when needed Brayshaw - couldn't get involved Gawn - continued stellar run Tyson - regularly butchered disposals Stretch - couldn't hurt opposition Cross - just don't kick Garland - formidable defensive component Vince - nullified Beames' effectiveness Kennedy- Harris - couldn't get involved McDonald - some random cameos Neal-Bullen - had no impact Garlett - excellent forward pressure Howe - loose but effective Jetta - tight all game vandenBerg - won important contests Harmes - improved but limited
  9. 1 - in 1965 , the year after our last grand final , I started to take the game seriously when everyone else in my area was following the Saints , I decided to be a rebel , and look where that got me in the last 50 years 2 - my favourite player was always Ross Dillon , but David Schwarz and Robbie Flower will always be remembered with great fondness. 3 - winning against Footscray at Footscray to make the finals for the first time in my Demons supporting life. The highs and lows of that day were of the most extreme forms imaginable , and when the crowd erupted with ecstasy at the ground upon hearing the result of another match that allowed us to make the finals, we knew that the cosmos had aligned and we'd attained the ultimate high 4 - So many lowlights as a Demons supporter for 50 years I wouldn't know how to separate them 5 - my children hate me for bringing them into this world as Demons' supporters , but they had the freedom to change but chose not to.
  10. 6 - Vince ( continued AA form ) 5 - Dunn ( never looked like being beaten) 4 - N.Jones ( not his best , but effective) 3 - Gawn ( prolific first half ) 2- Viney ( curtailed Heppell for the most part) 1- vandenBerg ( we can see it happening but he's not there yet )
  11. N.Jones - prolific, not damaging Dunn - continued excellent season Hogan - was comprehensively pantsed Watts - surprisingly costly disposal Dawes - plays like Jane Viney - great tagging game Lumumba - solid and reliable Brayshaw - lacked customary flair Gawn - fantastic first half Tyson - lethargic front runner Stretch - was rarely sighted Cross - becoming a liability Garland - costly abysmal disposal Vince - continues to impress Kennedy-Harris - made no impression McDonald - both end blunders Neal-Bullen - no heroics today Garlett - tried but failed Howe - won't be missed Jetta - was rarely sighted vandenBerg - needed the run Harmes - was totally lost
  12. 6 - N.Jones ( by a street ) 5 - Vince ( still prolific and limited Priddis ) 4 - Garlett ( always dangerous but couldn't get involved enough ) 3 - Garland ( not many possessions but beat his opponent ) 2 - Dunn ( never gave up and at least broke even ) 1 - Watts ( quiet but effective with ball )
  13. N. Jones - prolific and brave Dunn - excellent but overwhelmed Hogan - little forward presence Watts - in and out Toumpas - devoid of confidence Dawes - just occasional glimpses Viney - just a game Brayshaw - was desperately missed Gawn - was not disgraced Tyson - prolific but wasteful Stretch - will be better Cross - disposal from hell Garland - tight and effective Vince - successful tagging role McDonald - overwhelmed and beaten Neal-Bullen - enthusiastic and talented Garlett - needed more involvement Howe - league's most overrated Bail - irrelevant and ineffective M.Jones - same as Bail Spencer - failed to impose Jetta - was rarely noticed
  14. On the contrary , knowing we had either Gawn or Spencer ( or Dawes ) competing , we DID bomb it in , and often
  15. 6 - Gawn ( everyone is bemoaning the decline of the 'dinosaurs' until today) 5 - Vince ( was everywhere and inspiring all game) 4 - N.Jones ( as above ) 3 - Viney ( as above ) 2 - Brayshaw (we've got one!! ) 1 - Dunn ( almost perfect backman's game )
  16. N.Jones - captain great captain Dunn - stood up brilliantly Watts - continued important role Toumpas - quiet before subbing Dawes - provided great contests Viney - superb all game Lumumba - fine rebounding game Brayshaw - dynamic and exciting Gawn - career best game Tyson - looked more comfortable Stretch - played his role Cross - important in contests Vince - prolific all day McDonald - was rarely sighted Riley - some useful touches Neal-Bullen - can find ball Garlett - perfect scouting game Howe - 2 brief cameos Jetta - didn't imbue confidence Spencer - perfect Gawn foil Bail - was rarely sighted M. Jones - improved with confidence
  17. 6 - Vince - was prolific and rarely failed to use the ball to advantage 5 - Toumpas - was outstanding and creative until the last quarter 4 - Jones - we suffered whenever he was blanketed 3 - Gawn - outstanding performance in the middle , 2 - Cross - what can't he do? 1 - Hogan - frustrating but still a presence all day
  18. Jones - inspiring in bursts Dunn - marshalled defence effectively Hogan - finally a target Watts - confident and creative Toumpas - 3 great quarters Viney - some crucial turnovers Lumumba - rarely imbued confidence Brayshaw - surprisingly poor disposal Gawn - may have arrived Tyson - slow decision making Stretch - far from ready Cross - inspiring and determined Pedersen - insignificant before injury Michie - had no impact Vince - prolific and creative McDonald - loose and erratic Riley - just a game Neal-Bullen - was totally overawed Grimes - slow to react Garlett - probably wasn't playing Howe - another cameo performance
  19. 6 - N.Jones - rarely wasted any possessions and was back to prolific 5 - Vince - loves the big stage and rarely disappoints 4 - Cross - so brave, so professional... sadly, so old 3 - Brayshaw - so talented, and skilled on both sides of the body. 2 - Gawn - played an intelligent game and made a difference as evidenced by the successful day for our midfielders 1 - Watts - sublime at times , though not often enough
  20. N.Jones - dynamic and inspiring Dunn - lost the edge Hogan - underperformed and overwhelmed Watts - the bipolar performance Toumpas - slow but creative Viney - was almost valuable Lumumba - successfully made statement Brayshaw - eye catching display Gawn - cause for optimism Cross - brave and professional Newton - just a game Garland - never imbued confidence Pedersen - failed to impose Vince - impressive and prolific McDonald - believing own publicity Riley - rough but effective Garlett - needed more involvement Howe - cameo performances again Jetta - slow and indecisive M.Jones - had no impact Fitzpatrick - same as Watts vandenBerg - quiet before injury
  21. Wow!!!!! Ummm.. have a spell check yourself goose
  22. 6 - Brayshaw - proficient on both sides and made repeated efforts regularly 5 - Cross - rarely made an error and gave a damn 4 - Grimes - reliable and efficient 3 - Pedersen -always provided an option and made the contest 2 - Garland - tried and often was successful 1 - Hogan - could have been more influential but didn't fully take opportunities
  23. Garlett - had little influence Hogan - didn't take chances Fitzpatrick - back to reality M.Jones - an irrelevant performance Lumumba - just a game Spencer - some comical efforts Pedersen - provided a target Bail - couldn't justify selection Vince - tried but failed Brayshaw - was never disgraced Cross - gave his all Dunn - tried but loose Garland - was not embarrassed Grimes - our best defender Howe - insipid and irrelevant Jetta - needed the run N. Jones - poor 3 quarters McDonald - forgot one percenters Toumpas - a slow liability vandenBerg - taught a lesson Viney - unable to impact Watts - unwilling to impact
  24. 6 - vandenBerg - so dynamic and aggressive 5 - Spencer - was confident and handled the ball accordingly 4 - Fitzpatrick - amazing turnaround in performance and a master stroke by Roos to play him in defence 3 - Hogan - just gives everyone confidence when he's near the ball 2 - Pedersen - grunt work and marking ability 1 - N.Jones - apart from 1 brain fade he was close to his usual dynamic self
