Ironically the plan is to weaken the only part of their operation that is being proactive and successful. Off field they're kicking lots of goals with membership numbers that we could only dream of. The admimistration is not lacking, it's a lack of decent players that's going to hold them back for years.

N.Jones - still the heartbeat Vince - age is wearying Hogan - not the saviour Salem - cruelled by illness Watts - finally has arrived Petracca - some exciting glimpses Dawes - injuries bedevilled performance Viney - great first half Lumumba - rarely on field Trengove - at the crossroads Brayshaw - curtailed very early Gawn - season's biggest story Tyson - prolific and wasteful Oliver - cause for excitement Dunn - alienated the selectors Stretch - worthy but limited Kent - exciting when focused Frost - found his niche Newton - injuries stalled advancement Garland - out of favour Pedersen - rarely impressed selectors Michie - couldn't take chances Kennedy-Harris - injuries decimated season T.McDonald - was rarely beaten Weideman - far from ready Hulett - impressive at Casey O.McDonald - perseverance paid off Hunt - feel good story Neal-Bullen - career has stalled Grimes - not our future Bugg - a worthwhile addition Spencer - out of favour Mitch King - little is known Kennedy - couldn't maintain momentum Garlett - disappointing after re-signing vandenBerg - struggled for form Jetta - an impressive season White - limited when selected Wagner - impressive early on Harmes - skills need consolidation Smith - little is known M.Jones - a fringe player Terlich - others were preferred Max King - little is known

MAX GAWN WINS 2016 DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 23
joeboy replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - O.McDonald ( could very well end up our best recruit of the year ) 5 - Salem ( we've missed him) 4 - T.McDonald ( fought back well ) 3 - Hunt ( tried ) 2 - vandenBerg ( struggling to find others) 1 - Viney -
N.Jones - frustrated and frustrating Vince -looked embarrassingly old Hogan - played without heart Salem - we've missed him Watts - an inconspicuous finale Petracca - regularly butchered disposals Viney - tried but failed Brayshaw - little to enthuse Gawn - overwhelmed by numbers Tyson - season's worst game Stretch - played amateur football Frost - had no idea T.McDonald - good 3 quarters Weidemann - looked totally lost O.McDonald - continued impressive development Hunt - exciting but loose Bugg - not required standard Garlett - disappointing and embarrassing vandenBerg - tried but lacking Jetta - slow and loose Harmes - disposal from hell M.Jones - devoid of relevance
-
Jones - gave his all Vince - not a defender Tyson - prolific possession waster Viney - couldn't get involved Gawn - had little influence Hogan - kick the goals! Kent - frustrating to watch Bugg - a limited player vandenBerg - not a forward Watts - hates the wet Stretch - little to commend O.McDonald - continued to impress T.McDonald - outstanding all game Weidemann - light years away Hunt - gave a damn Jetta - great before injury Petracca - occasionally lost focus Brayshaw - constantly looked lost Oliver - has no engine Frost - hold your breath Michie - signed death warrant Neal-Bullen - no redeeming quality
-
6 - Gawn ( it all starts in the middle with Max) 5 - Vince ( was dynamic all game ) 4 - Tyson ( prolific and rarely wasted a possession) 3 - T. McDonald ( I don't recall him losing a contest) 2 - O.McDonald ( confidence has marked his improvement) 1 - Oliver ( his abilities belie his youth.. he will be a gun) Apologies to Hunt, Jetta,Frost and Jones' last quarter
-
Jones - quieter than usual Vince - loves Adelaide games Hogan - needn't have arrived Watts - quiet but useful Petracca - some magical touches Viney - couldn't get going Brayshaw - regained lost touch Gawn - what a heart Tyson - wonderful first half Oliver - classy and composed Stretch - couldn't find ball Kent - creative but wasteful Frost - becoming a weapon Pedersen - limited but tries vandenBerg - occasionally popped up T.McDonald - impassable all game O.McDonald - has actually arrived Hunt - deserves a nomination Bugg - some isolated cameos Garlett - was always dangerous Jetta - career best game Harmes - tough and relentless
-
Jones - outstanding 4 quarters Vince - calming and creative Watts - great first half Petracca - touches of magic Viney - the perfect game Brayshaw - brave and creative Gawn - dynamic and focused Tyson - prolific and effective Oliver - some sublime touches Stretch - run and carry Kent - dangerous and effective Frost - becoming a weapon Pederson - some isolated effectiveness T.McDonald - always the general Weideman - found another one O.McDonald - confidence is everything Hunt - brave and dynamic Bugg - played his part Garlett - needed more involvement vandenBerg - was rarely noticed Jetta -a smart defender Harmes - provided defensive rebounds
-
I've often wondered about the correlation between Craig Cameron's recruiting 'work' with us and his subsequent 'success' rate with The Tigers... he's the common denominator at both teams . Perhaps someone with more time than me on their hands could plot a graph of hits and misses with recruiting under his watch.. I suspect it won't be flattering.

On the contrary ,I've enhanced my reputation in the eyes of my wife and children by NOT 'getting all shirty about it' I love a robust discussion as much as the next guy, but I've made a conscious decision to almost never argue back here against a contrary opinion to mine, because this is such a subjective thread. The only time I'll make a defensive retort is when my antagonist argues unreasonably without respecting my right to an opinion.
-
I'm even more impressed that you're able to utilize a thesaurus
-
Thank you for your condescending ' I quite like your 3 word analysis'.. I value your opinion highly
-
Frankly I don't give a damn! The fact that Lynch was given equal top votes completely validates my argument that the coaches were struggling to find worthy players
-
Correct
-
This reflects more on the fact that there were no obvious worthy players, other than Watts. i don't suppose you're amongst that special group of Demonlanders who never question Roos' game day decisions????? He's ALWAYS right!!!!
-
I'd go as far as to say that I think Tyson is one of the most overrated footballers I've seen at the club, and I don't care less about votes given by media journalists.. I've been watching AFL or playing at a high standard of football for nearly 48 years , so I think my observations are more valid than most , and at the end of the day they're MY opinions... if you disagree so vehemently then start your own thread, after all you seem to enjoy seeing your own name in lights so often
-
So you don't think he regularly butchered the ball?
-
If you watched the game you'd agree with me
-
6 - Watts ( may finally have outgrown the overrated tag) 5 - Frost ( could become an elite running back man) 4 - Stretch ( one of the few , other than Watts, who could find targets) 3 - O.McDonald ( finally justified the persistence of the selection panel) 2 - Jetta ( reliable and clean all game) 1 - Hunt ( loved his endeavour and attitude)
-
N.Jones - playing under duress Vince - lost the edge Hogan - seemingly without passion Watts - perfect clutch player Petracca - keep it simple Dawes - some minor involvements Viney - made little impression Brayshaw - regularly wrong decisions Gawn - prolific without dominating Tyson - continually butchered disposals Stretch - valuable running game Kent - conditions didn't suit? Frost - valuable when confident T.McDonald - persistent and valuable Hunt - played with dash O.McDonald - played to limitations Garlett - another poor game vandenBerg - took his chances Jetta - safe and reliable Wagner - scary with ball Harmes - finding his place M.Jones - improved but limited
-
Well, it must please you that everyone respects your daily ramblings too.. frankly I don't care what people think of mine, as evidenced by my rare retorts to criticism
-
Absolutely I did, but I regarded the slow offloading and turnovers as more significant , and therefore I classified Tyson's game accordingly!
-
I noted 12 clangers by Tyson whilst watching the replay, directly related to his unwillingness to take the first option.. I stand by my claims and am not swayed by possession numbers, unlike some others here
