  1. Unfortunately a high possession game plan puts a higher focus on skill execution, and we know we are not there yet. Turnovers will continue to haunt us
  2. Very disappointed....But at the start of the season most would have had us at 2-2 considering Saints at Etihad and Geelong.
  3. Ryder 1 week ! Low impact because the crows wouldnt even dog their cross town rivals. Just a little more class than carlscum......
  4. Sounds over simplistic but it had nothing to do with Hogan, Lewis, or even Max going down. It was 100% about the conversion. Game plan and personnel stacked up, when you convert the way we did and they pull them out of their a#se thats what happens. Lots to take from it. I have seen every minute of every game this year from the stands and we will worry, and beat, lots of sides, even with our injuries stacking up. No 4 points, but at the end of the day we were CLEARLY the better side, anyone questioning that either wasnt at the game or is just waiting for a chance to stick the knives in.
  5. Doctor is employed by the Club and loves being a footy doctor.....
  6. To play finals we need to rack up 4 points at a time. I dont condone behind the play sniping, but this wasnt an example of that. Whatever happened, after these incidents we kicked 7 out of nine goals and collected the 4 points. Banked. If we drop one of these 3 games you mention, it wont be because of Jordan Lewis, thats a cop out. But we banked 4 points from the Carlton game after we were in deep trouble.
  7. JW made a good contribution, both pinch hitting in the ruck as we were getting on top, contesting in the forward line, and showing a cool head under pressure several times. He certainly didnt have a poor game. Still our most reliable disposer of the ball and glaringly well above others mentioned in this thread....
  8. Fake tough guy? Its well know Melksham can handle himself. Undefeated (admittedly short) amateur boxing career before footy became number 1.
  9. Agreed. This week though we are not up against a "great" midfield. We should win in the middle and hopefully Max can get up and about and prove something against the Saints. I actually think the key to our defence this week (we no doubt have major issues) is midfield pressure and pressure from the forwards. I remember watching from the stands last year and when the Saints gained possession deep in our forward half you could see this unraveling in front of your eyes, it was hideous. If the same happens again we'll get beaten again. We can win the midfield battle, and if we apply pressure across the mids and forwards (Garlett and Kent must play) then we can nullify their forward entries and cover up some cracks in our defence. I think it will be a similar game to last year, hopefully we have learned from it
  10. Very Hawthorn like.....Lewis influence maybe ??
  11. Agree with most above. When you have an asset like JH it would be negligent not to have regular precautionary scans with his history. I am a believer in "where there's smoke...etc" but I for one would be very pleased if the club kept a close eye on this..
  12. What its all about, not like all the BS on the "other" thread....
  13. Says a lot about the guy.....exactly why he has lasted through the bad days. I wish him all the best
  14. I still thought the media would have some love for hawthorn and the JOM deal. Obviously not and I'm loving it ! A bigfooty hawks supporter posted that the JOM deal is the benchmark for any deal done in ANY trade period !! pfffttt!
  15. I think we showed enough last year to continue to develop the processes and talent put in place. I for one dont care too much about this trade period and I am not jealous of the likes of hawthorn and geelong. For once there is true optimism in where we are heading and I dont think we need to do too much - they on the other hand are trying to extend their "window" We are not yet at the window...the type of players you speak of will want to come to us soon enough
  16. I dont normally subscribe to this theory, but ffs #freekickhawthorn, Its woeful. Anyone see buddy dragged down, the hodge dangerous tackle etc ?
  17. His intercepts are generally because he leaves his man regularly , they are cancelled out by the number of times his man is left running into space behind him. He has admittedly taken some great intercept marks this year and I've been to all Vic games but he is frustrating to watch. Watched it all day at etihad against the saints, we were all howling from the wing as soon as St Kilda gained possession TMac was off his man.. And at the G yesterday he was at it again. No he's not useless, and no we cant drop him, but if he's our key defender moving forward we are in big trouble.
  18. Agree with most BUT "Petracca was over awed " ??? 16 possessions, 5 tackles and a bullet to Jessie with a resulting goal, Ill take that from a debutant any day of the week. Sheeesh...
  19. Agree, two tossers, But I'm loving that they feel the need to talk about this. We, the MCF, are newsworthy for a whole lot of reasons now and people talking about us in any light means they are noticing us. Whatever their agendas, I dont care. We're no longer irrelevant and people are very afraid of what me might become in the next few years. Talk us up, knock us, whatever, because you cant now ignore us......
  20. We are better than them. We're not favourites. Expecting a landmark win but very very nervous.
  21. Typical Dwayne Russell comment on 3AW just now. Thankfully Richo and Gerard put him in his place. I agreed entirely with Richo that JW in a better team would be even better, but I'm just glad we are starting to find form and he is reaping the benefit of time in a particular role. He has always had the ability, and as we get better his impact will be even greater.
