  1. My thoughts exactly about the Dees. We're up and I want to be a part of it after all the bad times,, but the AFL is fast becoming a joke ....from rule changes and interpretations changing weekly, to the MRP, to biased commentary, fixturing etc. I would be out too if it wasnt for the love of where my club is heading!
  2. No different to a marking contest I would have thought. Jumped with eyes on the ball and just jumped higher than Hurn.
  3. Certainly was. In the midst of it and we were LOUD. And we started singing at the 19 minute mark of the last qtr ?
  4. Certainly was him. We have a lot to thank him for though...his comments in the lead up, his turnovers in the first half, and him being part of the JW theatre chasing him in vain. And then the image of him hunched over on the ground immediately after. What's that about "karma" ??
  5. Loved his game, but I was flabbergasted Watts didnt get a single coaches vote!! I dont give a rats what Buckley thinks but surely Goodwin recognised the impact of Watts?
  6. Haha me too the Watts goal I've now watched a couple of dozen times, and I admit I have always been a fan. Something I noticed in his face after he kicked it was different though. Look closely at his face, it wasnt just boyish joy, it was far bigger and deeper than that...
  7. Wasn't his best, but everyone has an ordinary game. Positive is we won without a massive impact from JL.
  8. Nope. Was at the ground, and just watched the replay. Greenwood holding the ball (2m57 to go) a definite. Maybe Adams in the back late was there. What about the Treloar htb the we didn't get? Or the Howe holding the ball 5.45 to go that we didn't get? Would have been a set shot from 40 out. Lots of ifs and buts but it certainly didn't affect the outcome. Nice though to be on the plus side of the free kick count though for a change.
  9. Wow, you want pressure and ask for Kent? Seriously?
  10. maybe, but a 50/50 record for favourites isnt the norm...there is no doubt MFC underachieve as favourites
  11. Must agree. Finds the ball, is tough as nails, but we need to add to our skills. Dont think he stacks up there.
  12. I disagree somewhat. Whilst we have been savaged by the MRP I have watched this over and over and I cant see the contact to the head. I'm far more annoyed at things like Selwood ducking (he's now the most free kicked player in VFL/AFL history) I know its not MRP related but I think game day decisions affecting the outcome of games are far more relevant
  13. Had us beating Carlton, Fremantle, Richmond, and Essendon, and losing to St Kilda, Geelong, Hawthorn, Adelaide,North and Gold Coast. (We are talking "prior" to the season!) So I would have taken 5/5. BUT the way we have played, the suspensions, the injuries, I am bitterly disappointed we arent 7-3 ! With a little luck we could quite easily be entrenched in the mid-upper part of the 8.
  14. I think we are in agreement But we simply dont have viable specialist ruck options until Max is back and we have to do what we can with what we've got.
  15. Disagree on Goldstein. And I'm not looking and numbers alone, I was there as I always am. And you cant blame our stifled clearances on the midfield setup when you are blaming the forwards?? My point is we dont have other ruck options, we have to address this the best we can and Goodwin and co, along with the midfield, have done well in the circumstances nullifying the influence of opposition ruckmen. Norths own on bigfooty were screaming down Goldstein during the game for not having enough influence. Pederson 18 possesions and 2 goals. Goldstein 17 possessions, no goals, and lots of inconsequential hitouts. At the end of the day we get enough of the ball to win more than we lose, but we dont....
  16. We dont have ruck options when our No 1 and No 2 are out injured, so of course we'll go in with a similar setup, we dont have a choice. We still won the clearances 39-34 and obviously Goodwin has midfield strategies to address our lack of a ruckman.
  17. I love getting up and shouting at opposition players who shirk it, first time I have jumped out of my seat and yelled out at one of ours....it was disgusting
  18. We were in the demon seats next to the MCC and heard the roar when he kicked the ball and obviously expected out on the full. Didnt see it obviously from where we were but the resultant booing was pretty damning that the wrong call had been made. Dont think anyone has mentioned two instances within about 10 seconds of north players being tackled and clearly missing the ball with their disposal by foot, play on both times.....will have to watch the replay to see exactly when it was but it was blatant
  19. You seem to misunderstand excuse v explained reason. Taking out the No 1 ruckman, and a big bodied key forward, and saying these are merely excuses for losing, as opposed to reasons why, is ludicrous. Personnel MATTERS. I do think we could have won yesterday, but there are multiple reasons why we didnt, and missing key players is certainly one of them. The season is very even and on any given day almost any team can beat another, so personnel available is even more relevant.
  20. Agree the numbers say that, but I have been to every minute of every game- It wont placate the masses to say we "could" be 7-0 but we indeed have been in with a winning chance in every game. This is unlike other years. We are a much better side, we just havent got the job done as we could have. I would rather be in every game, and have a solid game plan, than bob up every now and then with a stirring win against the odds. I go to every game now believing we can win, this hasnt happened fora very very long time. I am as frustrated as anyone with 3-4, but there is lots of upside if you get past the disappointment.
