McAdam will get a chance to redeem himself next season, but may face new competition for the role in the best 22. What will be interesting is what we do during the national draft. If we add a highly touted draftee who can play that forward role, it will add to the competition for spots in the senior side. Look at what Windsor did to Billings and Hunters opportunities on the wing. He leapfrogged both of them for the spot in the 22 and would have held it all season to ad he not been injured.

I cannot believe the negativity sprouted by opposition supporters surrounding his selection. Have they been watching gawn? He has been the standard for the past decade, and keeps finding ways to influence the game. There is no comparison in the modern era. He stands above all as the greatest modern day Ruckman to play the game. Sadly some opposition supporters won't recognize his greatness until he's long retired. Enjoy big Max while you can, as I'm sure he'll hang them up at the conclusion of his recent contract extension.

If we'd just rolled off a flag and were looking at some depth insurance i'd be interested. Reality is we need a mini rebuild and lists spots for draftees is the direction we need to take.

Can only wish this guy well. He was always on a short leash with the FD and was surprisingly dropped a few times after solid games. Probably deserved more from us than he got. Good luck to him, I hope he finds a situation that works for him.

Lynch was a hell of a player. WAS a hell of a player. I watched what injuries and father time did to our Benny Brown, and know that sometimes there is no turning back the clock.

Can we use Maynard's lawyer to challenge if he gets rubbed out?

I hope this kid isn't the new whipping boy. He wasn't as awful as everyone seems to think. He hardly played and has a crack. He didn't set the world in fire but not many of our players did. I'm not giving up hope, let's get around the kid and see what he can do next season.

I'll be there as usual sitting in the members wing. Carn the f'n dees!

I hope this kid has a large wardrobe, because I see an AA jacket or two in his future. Really love watching him develop.

Well deserved extension. Probably wins the bluey this year.

Part 9: Jason Taylor - Visionary or Over-rated - 2021

This draft was 10/10. All players we drafted will go on to have AFL careers, and we drafted at the back end of the early rounds. To find McVee in the rookie draft also is outstanding. Can't fault this draft given where our picks were and what we got. -
First game I've missed all season due to a close mates 40th. I'll always support the dees through thick and thin, but there's more to life than footy.

This is a gettable game. I'm optimistic we will show up and pinch this one.

I think we are actually getting quicker by design. Jordan and Harmes were both good endurance 2 way runners but were not quick. Rivers has really quickened our midfield mix, and Koz does the same when he's in the middle. Woey is also no slouch, and Nibbler shows bursts of speed. Windsor and AMW are jets, and could be real weapons as they mature. I think the original post focuses too much on quick players, rather than quick players who are quality players.

Brilliant news! I think he moves to the backline next season in preparation for May handing over the baton. Hopefully Tmac stays on, but if Tmac were to retire Petty becomes lock down back round 1. Tomlinson may also look elsewhere which thins our backline stocks. Honestly this softened the loss knowing Harrison is going to be here until the end of 2027.

I was at the game and aside from freezing my nuts off I was pleased with some of the development from our younger players. I won't comment on all players as most completed their roles as required. Laurie has some tricks in his bag and just needs to figure out how to make the jump to AFL. His game was fantastic and he looked dangerous with ball in hand. Sesto is a natural footballer and he has the footy smarts to play AFL football. He looked good out there today and has that frittata 6th sense of knowing where the goals are at all times Pup Brown will push for selection again this year. He is developing nicely. Blake Howes murdered whoever he was playing on. He was reliable and was the best of our back 6. He was terrific. Some of our senior boys didn't have noteworthy performances. Hunter worries me, he looks like he's going through the motions. I'm not sure what's going on with him but he should be smashing vfl football. McAdam struggled with the conditions and couldn't influence the game. I'm not writing him off yet. Fullerton has some good patches, and then some poor patches throughout the game. Billings had a good game and was a key contributor. BBB was solid up forward and contested all day. I can't report much on Noah Yze sorry as I didn't really see much of him.

He didn't look like he didn't belong. Some really nice moments and a few I'm sure he'll learn from. I hope he keeps improving because he is a joy to watch.

Bill has a few tricks in his bag but hasn't put them all on display on the big stage. Confidence is something he needs to build at Casey and then carry into the senior team.

Pound for pound the hardest player in the AFL. His career is now sitting in the club Legend tier. I look forward to telling my grandkids one all about him.

Agreed. Did you hear the line about Kozzie? "He's been good the last 2 weeks after a quiet game against Sydney" He clearly didn't remember Kozzie was suspended for the Sydney clash. The rest of the commentary team fell silent after that line

What’s In a Name? - a Comprehensive List of Player Nicknames
Adzman replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Matthew Jefferson is also nicknamed 'the magician'. Tom Fullarton's nickname at the Lions was 'fullcream' however I have no confirmation that it has carried over to the dees . -
As I sat in the members I reflected on two of the moves made off-season. Harmsey going to the dogs and Jibba joining the dees. The emotion of losing a premiership player was hard to swallow, but the move was right for both parties. Billings was almost written off, and a bit of a risk for the dees. Today's game showed the FD's vision, and if Billings can maintain form and fitness he may be the recruit of the year.

Assuming picks stay as they are, and Curtain fell to us at our first pick, would WC offer a future first round pick for him and would we take it? WC will be bottom 4 next year you would think.
