  1. His field kicking can be good sometimes but he struggles massively with the trajectory, and of course accuracy. Also, I get the feeling he thinks he's a better kick than he really is. HIs teammates shouldn't give him the ball unless it's the ONLY option, even then, proceed with caution.
  2. Goodwin has said he should be right for next week. I'm very hopeful he hasn't re-done the ankle he had surgery on late in 2015, because we need him for Round 1!
  3. Biggest positive of this game, Clayton Oliver! I remember seeing Wines on debut against us in 2013 and just thinking "Oh [censored]!" Well I think Oliver has been just as impressive as Wines was. Even that last play of the game, most kids would have been pinged for HTB, Oliver gets a kick away. Bugg was excellent, but unfortunately I remember Kennedy's floaters when he was at Collingwood. Let's hope vandenBerg's injury isn't serious. Given his history and reaction when coming off, I'm nervous.
  4. The injury to vandenBerg is the biggest worry. Didn't he miss 4+ weeks with it last year? McDonald should just aim for the crowd, that's his best chance of hitting a Dees player.
  5. Clayton Oliver looks very good. Will wait and see how he goes in the real stuff but he has the Ollie Wines body and POISE when he gets it. We'll probably never see it again but that Garlett goal was as skilful as you'll ever see!
  6. Is Julian Feller the only trustworthy orthopaedic surgeon in the whole city? That's a worry!
  7. Deliberately provocative thread title. I'm not going to read the rest of your post now!
  8. If it is what Goodwin says it is, I wonder if he'll be picked for Round 1. I know he's a gun but he's still young and coming off no match practice. If someone like Oliver plays a couple more good games then I'd envisage Brayshaw coming back through the VFL.
  9. We deserved to get the rub of the green from the umps after that ridiculous deliberate OOB decision against TMac. Super impressed by Kennedy after half time and I seriously think vandenBerg is one of our best recruits in years. Not getting carried away with a game worth 0 Premiership points but our squad is starting to shape up nicely. Depth has improved to the point where the likes of Terlich and M.Jones (and Bail in previous years) won't be getting regular games. Heck, even Jones was pretty good today!
  10. Putting off talks until the end of the season almost always spells trouble, although luckily this scenario is different to the previous examples of it. Whether it's smart for Jesse or not (and it probably is), this is NOT good news to be reading as a fan on the eve of another season. Let's be honest about that. I think he'll stay, he signed an extension not that long ago, but if his manager trots out the same line and he's unsigned 12 months from now I think we all know what's going to happen.
  11. Monday night is the most important night, and Roosy was terrible. I can't recall one interesting thing he said in two years. Heppell on Thursdays is an absolute disgrace but overall I think they've improved the lineup. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's just something about this show that I love. Looking forward to its return.
  12. Tyson has a nice action and can easily kick it 55+, but missed a lot of targets last year. He seemed a bit lazy with it, hope he can improve it because he'll be an absolute gun if he can. Sounds like Salem has carried on from his late 2015 form. Needs to stay fit because there's nothing he can't do on the field. I wonder how many people in the stands will be saying "McKenzie is looking bigger", "That's better McKenzie!" or "You hack McKenzie!" (after a turnover) if Oliver gets a game in Round 1. Appreciate the reports guys.
  13. When I saw the thread title I panicked, thinking maybe he'd picked up a serious injury today. Mods should change thread title and/or delete because no sane person would choose to believe this drivel.
  14. According to the Herald Sun Howe was playing cricket, dropped a catch, went off favouring his hand, didn't bat (despite playing in the top order in earlier games) and then claims he broke his finger playing frisbee later that day. I know footballers aren't meant to be the sharpest tools in the shed but come on...
  15. The MFC twitter page just uploaded a photo of Brayshaw and Salem in the gym today. If my eyes aren't deceiving me, then Salem looks like he's about to bench 110kg which is pretty strong for a kid his size and age!
  16. Sylvia was a good player in the Bailey era and serviceable, albeit frustrating, under Neeld. I accept that 'Life Membership' for someone like Col seems a bit of a stretch but people have short memories.
  17. I bet there will be a few 'experts' in the crowd who will still be abusing McKenzie next year.
  18. Is that really Petracca? It doesn't look like his face and there's no knee brace. If it is him, he looks way different to this time last year. He could be a bulldozer if footy doesn't work out.
  19. Probably about the 100th young player I've seen compared to Hodge on here in the past decade. He looks decent though, kinda like a poor man's Salem. I'd be surprised if his name doesn't pop up at some stage next year as he's a mature-aged and we don't have a lot of distributors coming out of the backline.
  20. Born in 1997! I've never felt older.
  21. The one - main - thing that separates Hogan and the other good key forwards from Watts is courage in the air. Hogan has it in spades, Watts has none. The fact JT has described Weideman as having 'elite courage in the air' is promising. Let's hope he has better hands than Dawes and kicks straighter than Ben Holland.
  22. Just how fierce will a midfield of Viney, Brayshaw, vandenBerg, N. Jones and now Oliver be for opposition teams? That's not even factoring in Vince who doesn't mind a scrap and the raging bull Petracca who might end up in there. They will dead set crush the likes of Richmond in the wet. It won't necessarily lead to sustained success but at least the bruise-free era is long behind us!
  23. Welcome to the MFC, Clayton Olisik Oliver.
  24. I honestly consider that the worst article ever. Hyperbole. Check Premature. Check Made up quotes. Check It just gets worse and worse with every passing day as both Tyson and (arguably) Salem are both better than Kelly in their own right. Heck, the article even alludes to us picking Hogan ahead of Kelly as if it was some sort of mistake. FMD.
  25. Landsberger is an idiot. He was calling Toumpas the steal of the draft in 2012 then ridiculing the decision to select him in 2014. His opinion holds as much weight as Barrett's. Less, even.
