Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
Bang Bang Bang replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like Roos but he has royally [censored] this one up and probably made it worse with his 'clarification'. Very poor idea to pot the fans who have been VERY patient for a VERY long period of time and still have to sit through performances of the past two weeks. I'm sure he wishes he'd never said it now. -
It was Garland. His disposal skills are atrocious at times.
-
TMac has been excellent this year and Jetta has been good but the rest of our defenders need the blowtorch put on them. I don't see other teams giving away such clumsy free kicks, yet Garland and Dunn have made it an artform. Not to mention Jeremy Howe falling over at critical times as well.
-
Should Daniel Cross go around again next year? You can't fault the guys attitude, commitment or his career overall. But he's very slow and can't kick far or accurately. He's one of many I hate seeing getting the ball in space, anywhere on the ground because he can't do much with it. 50/50 for mine.
-
He's a C-grader. There are literally hundreds of them running around in the AFL. Don't care either way.
-
He gave away around 4 goals today from either laziness, stupidity or incompetence. That left foot kick into the corridor in the second quarter was embarrassing. Very reminiscent of Frawley in late 2014. I think he's gone. Maybe I'm thinking irrationally after a poor performance but would we really be that much worse off if Howe and Garland both packed their bags?
-
Jones will probably still be captain for another 4-5 years, after that Jack Viney will be around 25 y/o and cherry ripe to take over.
-
It's very rare that a Demonland poster actually comes through with a scoop, but kurtneverdied was able to do so when McCartney crossed over to Melbourne last year. He posted the news on here several days before the announcement. He's legit. The fact we're chasing Dangerfield means very little though, I'd be staggered if we weren't!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG
Bang Bang Bang replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Matt Jones and Rohan Bail are still getting games for us, evidence that we're a long way off having the depth of the good sides. Therefore, Bugg is certainly worth looking at. Has proven himself to be a servicable AFL player. We're certainly not in a good enough position to be saying "No" to players of his ilk. -
Jared Rivers' career could be over
Bang Bang Bang replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
His best year was his first (2004). Not often do you see that. He had a good career, but didn't get close to the heights expected of him after that mesmerising debut season. I'd put him in a similar category to players like Brad Green and Cameron Bruce (remember 2000?). Green was the best and most loyal of that trio though. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Bang Bang Bang replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kennedy is small, gets pushed off the ball easily and lacks composure the same way Toumpas does at AFL level. No for me, unless he comes dirt cheap. -
James Hird has to now be considered the worst coach in the history of the game, and by a long way. Performance-wise Neeld was worse, but he didn't oversee a peptide program nor did we pay him millions of dollars to drive the club into the ground. Good riddance.

Nothing beats Melbourne winning. But what happened today goes mightily close. Suck [censored] you arrogant flogs.
-
Turns 29 at the end of the season. Where did all those years go?
-
He frustrates the hell out of me with the simple errors he makes, but then I remember we got him for a 5th round pick and he's kicked 33 goals for a side that isn't renowned for kicking many. He hasn't kicked a big bag to skew the stats so he's fairly consistent too. Excellent recruit.
-
Perhaps I should rephrase it then. Someone that can play key forward and back competently, 25 y/o and 100 games experience isn't someone that you should be happy about losing. We'll manage, but I'd rather he stayed.
-
Didn't GWS come to us with the proposal, but there wasn't enough time for us to properly consider it? That was certainly Mahoney's side of the story. I think he's gone too. It's a shame because he's a B-grade utility and they don't grow on trees.
-
Another 7 votes in the AFLCA votes. One coach gave him 4 and the other 3. He's absolutely killing it.
-
Hey! Remember Roos saying we needed an A+ midfielder a few weeks back? Maybe he didn't mean Prestia...
-
He didn't hesitate extending his contract at the back end of last year, and we were playing much worse footy then. Relax. He is already pretty close to elite. There is seriously nothing he can't do. Even his set shot routine has improved and I'd back him to convert most of his chances.
-
Hogan is already close to elite and will be the best player in the competition in a few years.
-
I don't think we can complain too much about the umpiring today. We've had a good run forward of centre. I can't recall any HTB's I wouldn't have paid and they even paid one against Swallow for ducking.
-
I'm a huge Matt Jones critic but have been thoroughly impressed by his run and carry today. Hogan's set shot routine reminds me a bit of Nick Riewoldt of late. A small stutter but gets good momentum into the kick, keeps it low and simple. Paul Roos must have had a few bongs in the morning, that's the only reason I can explain playing Cross on Boomer...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Bang Bang Bang replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I guess the majority of players that have done their ACL in the past have made full recoveries, but there's still a fair chunk of players that have done it again, and again (Menzel, Alex Johnson, Morabito, Patton and Clay Smith are five recent examples). Fingers and toes crossed that Petracca falls into the former category. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 19
Bang Bang Bang replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's amazing that even with a relatively healthy squad to choose from Matt Jones still gets games. 28 y/o, unskilled and clumsy. The coaches must see something the rest of us don't.
