He went at pick 12 and even Carlton took him with their third pick of the draft. Players develop beyond expectation, it happens. It wasn't Taylor’s first miss and it won’t be his last.

1) Never want to play against a young team in the early rounds of the season. 2) There will be even less ‘easy’ games to pencil-in this year.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 1
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know there are a couple of stars in the line-up and football is more about system, tactics and gameplans nowadays, but that Geelong team is very, very average on paper without Dangerfield. -

Great news! He's come a long way in a very short amount of time. -
Goodwin says Viney & TMac out for 6-8 Weeks
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Huge outs and very disappointing for sure, but there wouldn’t be many teams in the league who aren’t missing 2 from their best 22 each week... -
Wayne Carey: Dees Not a United Team
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Carey doesn’t go quite as hard as the headline suggests, but there’s some validity in what he says. He’s essentially saying what most of us are saying, and that is until we start winning, people are going to be bring up the camp. -
I’m willing to take Viney’s word for it at this stage. Following his rehab for the stress fracture he’s had some secondary injuries/niggles as a result of his change in running style. I’ll take an ankle injury, followed by a toe injury any day over a stress fracture in the foot.

If theyd already grown through and it was done in the chair, he got of lightly. It’s when they have to dig them out then yank them, with their boot on your throat for leverage, that you’re in for a tough recovery.

He's a bit slow with this news isn't he? Michael Voss anointed us the next AFL Superpower 8 years ago! -
Training Week Commencing 19/3
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yup. Toes can be very tricky to get right and strangely debilitating when injured. Frost and Sandilands have both missed seasons with toe injuries and Bernie last year was a shadow of himself whilst playing with an injured toe. Take the time. Get it right. -

Was thinking the same thing... the only time he seemed to look proppy was in his kicking action. Hopefully's its just that his left foot action isn't as fluid as his preferred. -

Dees Drink Own Bathwater According To Malthouse
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The clubs going to announce their own players are arrogant?? How’s about sledging StKilda last year that we would be playing finals and they wouldn’t be? https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/afl/media-watch-melbournes-finals-sledges-backfire-spectacularly-call-for-collingwood-to-change-captains/news-story/203bb5f7f726faf489e0cce5725b7b4b http://www.sportingnews.com/au/amp/afl/news/melbourne-players-massive-sledge-backfire-against-saints-afl-demons-dees-st-kilda/ubzpeo8duw6o13carbfh3hi3p It’s not the end of the world. They’re extremely competitive players and they have got some strong egos. GWS were the same, even when they were getting flogged ever week. -

It’s been expressed by more people than Mick Malthouse, that my point. Im not saying it’s a ‘fact’, I’m saying it’s a recurring statement. -

VFL Practice Match - Casey Demons v Box Hill Hawks
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the report! The Weideman on the ball is an interesting development. If he can add that to his game it'll be a huge bonus for him getting a crack at the seniors later in the year. -

Looks like we've poured all our social media resources into the Women's match today. It's pretty poor that we couldn't even send the work experience kid down there with his iphone and the twitter password. -
Every theme song will be re-done by AFL

Not as big a change as I feared it may be. The trumpet/bugle is noticeable different. -
Every theme song will be re-done by AFL
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to biggestred's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is absolutely no way this could ever possibly turn out well for the AFL. There is a flat zero chance the fans will listen to a re-recording of their songs and say: 'Sound great... change is good.' The old style of signing is part of the cultural fabric of the game; I dread to think what they may sound like now. -
I suppose it all comes down to how much fitness he lost in his injury/recovery/rehab time. It's possible that he's not even fit enough for a Casey match... I may be naive, but as soon as he joined the main training group, my concerns about his injury dissolved.
-
My understanding is that he is in full training. This suggests that he’s over the injury and building match fitness’s after missing months of training...
-
And I would agree with Melbourne's approach. If they rush Dangerfield back for round one, it shows they have very little confidence in their depth and supporting players. A player of his value needs to play close to every game this year for them to make the finals (he's that good). If he re-injures his hamstring round one, it'll spell disaster for 2018. (With all that said, I don't think he'll play round one - it'd be lunacy)

I think you'll then see players targeting sore players like Nigel Lappin in the '04 Grand Final, when Akker famously broadcast that he was playing with broken ribs. We often refer to it as the opposition 'testing out' a sore shoulder, ribs or hip, etc. Lots of players carry injuries through the season that the opposition are unaware of. Not sure why clubs would want to tell the opposition about weaknesses their players have that can then be exploited. At the end of the day though, it's a players personal medical information we're talking about here. I don't think fans or broadcasters are in any position to demand more information that what the people involved are willing to give.
