  1. Just complete this sentence: ’We’ll be ok as long as _____________ doesn’t get injured.’
  2. We have lost every match!
  3. People on here will be heckling Oscar while he's making his Brownlow acceptance speech.
  4. With Casey having a bye round one (seems to happen quite a bit to us) does anyone know what the rest of our players did to compensate for this? Was there a hard training session on the weeken not make up for the missed match, or would Tyson, Brayshaw, etc be further behind in their preparation should the be called up...
  5. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that he'd played a huge game to that stage. Hopefully set for a monster year. 9 Coach's vote aint too bad.
  6. I think Lever needs to develop more dimensions to his game. In many ways, it's a credit to him that a team would work so hard to negate his influence at such a young age. I think Oscar is going to develop into a good KPD, but he will never be Daniel Talia, so there's no point waiting for that to happen. However we have enough quality down there for a very good backline with Lever, Hibberd, Jetta, Hunt, etc. Perhaps this means Frost plays? Perhaps Hibberd needs to offer more coverage? Perhaps Lever needs to focus on the fundamental role of a defender and beat his man? He has to learn to adapt to this challenge (with the help of the coaching group of course). One thing that was apparent to me on the weekend was that it was clearly the first time our defensive unit had played together in the heat of an AFL match. They lacked synergy and awareness of each other - that will come, as the quality and talent is definitely there.
  7. Stupid thing to do. Bad free kick, but what’s the best case scenario of yelling and swearing at an umpire?? Was brought in for leadership and a cool head- displayed neither.
  8. I'm feeling confident for this week. In the final wash-up, we were 3 points down against a quality team. If Gawn had of kicked that goal, no one would be writing off the Cats today. I've already stated that I'd like to see Brayshaw and Tyson for Maynard and Wagner.
  9. The passions run hot in here and fair enough. Perspective usually starts setting in from about Tuesday morning.
  10. Brisbane’s only strength is it’s midfield and there are some very good players in there. Strengthen the midfield with Tyson and Brayshaw. I was surprised on Thursday night when the team was announced and I’m still scratching my head. IN: Tyson, Brayshaw OUT: Maynard, Wagner
  11. Has the potential to be a very damaging combination. Hannan is very much an impact player and often is very quiet for patches of games. Fritsch looks likely to have more consistent involvement but is yet to show he can turn a game on its head at this level like Hannan did a few times last year. Give it a few more matches to see how all the smalls and mediums up forward gel together.
  12. Well... at least the cricket’s on.
  13. Love the Gameday thread before the match starts! (I dare not enter after that)
  14. Petracca was the right pick at the time. The Saints drafted for ‘needs’ rather than ability.
  15. Because of a loss in round 2? Nah.
  16. They match up against us well and always step up for our games. Will be tough, especially if their midfield gets their eye in.
  17. Really like the look of the team that Brisbane’s putting together. They’re still a few years off finals, but they have some real quality across the board. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Lions due to a family connection and am glad to see them starting to both retain and attract some talent to the club. Hodge is a fantastic acquisition for them just as Daniel Cross was for us. Despise stkilda.
  18. For the most part I would suggest that it was the summer spent in the rehab group. As he’s never been considered a chance for JLT or round 1, he’s just fallen out of the write-ups. Hopefully when he strings some games together, he’ll set tongues wagging.
  19. Got him with the pick we gave them?? Wait for the thread bemoaning that one!
  20. Having two little kids, I’ve watched Friday night football for the past two years with the sound off... this is just drivel.
  21. It's not Wagner's fitness that worries me...
  22. After a pre-season of obsessing over the round 1 22, there's always a few shocks when the team is finally announced. With that said, I'm sceptical with the Maynard/Tyson and Brayshaw/Wagner decision. Hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't trust Wagner with or around the ball and Maynard is still very, very inexperienced at any level of football.
  23. Carlton also had big doubts about Curnow which is why they took Harry McKay ahead of him. In fact, Curnow was the 6th key position player taken in that draft behind: Weitering Schache Francis Weideman McKay. None of those player have set the world on fire yet. Some will, some won’t. But the fact of the matter is we won’t know for a few more years yet. In addition, it’s probably worth noting who was playing full back last night for Carlton whilst Curnow played full forward. Liam Jones is a KPP who didn’t play a good match until the age of 26. Some guys burst onto the scene... some take time.
  24. Has had significant ankle surgery twice already in his career and spent most of this pre-season in rehab. I wouldn’t be wanting to see him in the seniors for the first half of the year as, I’d rather see him developing and building confidence in the VFL. Pederson is definitely ahead of him in the pecking order at this stage at any rate. Weideman need match fitness and a run of good form. Not concerned... yet.
  25. He’s missed plenty- it’s not a precise science. Salem over Cripps/Crouch JKH over Darcy B-J Brayshaw over Lever Stretch over McGovern
