  1. Daisy is the captain of the MFC. Can't get much more MFC than that...
  2. Agreed. B&F gives you an insight into the role that a player is asked to take on each week. In this case, it would seem that the coaching staff believe that Col is fulfilling this role. The better part of his game is his versatility and, in particular, his ability to stand a resting midfielder when they rotate forward. He's been through a lot with the club and if he wants to stay on through another rebuild, we should definitely keep him. If he wants to explore other options, of which there would be plenty, i don't begrudge him that.
  3. If this was Nathan Jones playing a seaon injured, he could explode next year. There was talk earlier in the year that he might have been carrying a shoulder/neck injury. I think against the Tigers on ANZAC eve he copped a hard knock at the bottom of a pack that floored him - looked very uncomfortable afterwards. Captain, leader, gun.
  4. Butcher would be dirt cheap, if not free. Big bodied, key position forward who regularly takes contested mark and is good in the lead. Yes, he kicks like a mule- but with all those other attributes, I think the kicking can be worked on; never to be perfected, but perhaps improved. IMHO.
  5. Thanks for posting the 360 interview. He speaks well and has a great attitude to his football. I particularly liked when he said he didn't buy in to comparisons to other greats of the game; that he wanted to build his own brand as a player. Love it! As an aside, I am amazed at how thoroughly boozed Robbo was. He has the close-talking-embarrassing-drunk-uncle shtick down.
  6. The arrogant way he struts around the football field is a sight to behold! He knows he can't be beaten if he's given an even run at it. Has the same aura as Carey, Brown and Brereton. Like a roided-up peacock.
  7. When he's got the ball in his hands and his face scrunched up... he looks exactly like his old man. Wish him all the best and, if he's rookied, it'd be a great effort! Hopefully a late bloomer.
  8. I'm not sold on him as I think he'd need to play the Forward/Ruck role as Gawn (the league's rucking up-and-comer) can't play forward IMHO. One indirect benefit of having Kreuzer however is that, though his price may give Carlton the number two pick, it'll soften the blow of us having to slide down the draft order one place. Those saying it'd cost us nothing in picks are wrong as it'd essentially be: Kreuzer for a one pick downgrade.
  9. Was definitely injured. Many, many times he'd pull up from a mark, tackle or turn grimacing in pain. Played through for the most part, but was clearly hampered.
  10. I think they're assembling a very even list across the field and their fans have every right to be excited. However, we will not know how good they really are until Riewoldt retires. That man is a freak to still be playing the way he is after all these years, in the most difficult and physically demanding position on the ground. If he was at the MFC we'd have won five more games this year.
  11. I rate Howe as a player and I certainly hope that opposition teams rate him highly when entering into a trade negotiation. GWS and Gold Coast need someone like Howe. He'd be starting 18 for both of them and exemplifies the most marketable element of our game: the speccy. I'd expect to see him on posters, calendars, t-shirts and billboards all over the northern towns.
  12. I think Cripps will win it unfortunately. He has been fantastic this year and the games and numbers that he's producing are huge. With that said, I think Hogan is and will continue to be the better of the two into the future and, if I was starting a team tomorrow, Hogan would be first picked.
  13. Was very angry when we traded Stef, was always a big fan and thought it would come back to bite us... With that said, i was probably angrier that we traded Gysberts... we cleared out a lot of players that post season, one was guaranteed to come good somewhere else.
  14. Great photos! Petracca is indeed a beast! I'd say his skin-folds may be a fair bit lower now than they were at the start of the year. One blessing that could perhaps come out of his injury could be greater diligence in his training and preparation. Very pumped for Frost, Petracca and Trengove; round one 2016.
  15. IIRC Round 1 1994 v Geelong he kicked 8.8 with at least one out of bounds on the full. Followed it up in Round 2 with 4.10 against Hawthorn at Waverley. Was a sensational player when 'on'.
  16. That was a terrible match from Melbourne and I remember walking away with big doubts about the Bailey team. We were a monty to make the finals that year according to the pundits, but there were big cracks even in the games we won. What that match did show was that we HAD a genuine match winner in Jurrah. He was the difference that day- have had anyone like him since... hopefully that void will be filled by the Hulk. The 2010 and 2008 wins against Brisbane were magic!
  17. They have been through such a terrible time and could not have been prepared to play that match. They looked exhausted both physically and emotionally and the emotion was raw and heart wrenching. You can forget sometimes that many of them are basically kids and they've suffered a huge loss. It was very difficult to see them out there at the end of the match, seemingly alone. When they were walking off the ground Camporeale was trying to get around to them to offer a word, but they are a devastated group of young men. Hopefully tonight, as difficult as it was, was a healing moment in their grief. They have a long way to go.
  18. Whatever the offer is, add %10. Needs to be too good to refuse. Our first pick and Howe... And fingers crossed.
  19. If only we'd taken Brad Johnson instead of Trent Ormond Allen!
  20. He is beast! Needs to work on his disposal but with another AFL preseason under his belt, he could explode next year. Would love to see him lining up in the centre square. Great pick-up and re-signing.
  21. Thanks for the reports. Any sign of Salem out there? Is he back running? Have been re-watching a few of the games from the first third of the season. Salem was pivotal; need him back soon.
  22. If we can win 8 games this year then we would have had 2, 4, and 8 wins over three years. It is logical to conclude that we will be sure to win 16 games in 2016!
  23. Agreed! Was such an exciting prospect in his first two years. Jack, Petracca and the fella in charge of their rehab fitness program, post updates on Instagram quite regularly. They're both looking fit and strong; so fingers and toes crossed...
  24. Impossible to predict with any confidence and a lot will be determined by the players we get back from injury and how our young players cope in the later rounds of a long and brutal season. Getting Salem, vandenBerg and Garland back is important if we're to win the so-called 'winable' matches in the run home. Eagles @ TIO Stadium: Eagles are no where near as good as the media claims them to be; but are far better than opposition supporters give them credit for. (probable loss) Bombers @ MCG: Desperately out of form and shot for confidence; if we play with intensity and physicality we should win. (probable win) Lions @ MCG: They knocked us off last year and will be confident to do it again. If we come to play and are physical and ruthless, we should win. (probable win) Saints @ MCG: At home and with a few players back, we should win and win well. If the Geelong match was spurned on by the loss the previous week, we will hopefully be breathing fire against the Saints. (probable win) Magpies @ MCG: I really rate their up and coming list, however it is a very young one. Our only chance is if they start to tire after a very strong first half of the year. (probable loss) Kangaroos MCG: I don't think they have the personal or the game plan to win finals. They do however have the personal and gameplan to beat up on younger, weaker teams. (probable loss) Bulldogs @ Etihad Stadium: Tough ask at Etihad where they play very well. They will be out to get us from the first bounce. We're every chance if we can pressure them as we did four weeks ago... but I really rate the Bulldogs. (probable loss) Blues @ MCG: They'll think they're a chance here and will be preparing for a red hot go at us. If we can get on top early we should account for them. Can't let a team like this get any early confidence. (probable win) Dockers @ Domain Stadium: Oh dear... (probable loss) Giants @ Etihad Stadium: They've never feared us, even in their early days. A lot will depend on whether they're still a shot for the finals by then. They were very average on the weekend but are overflowing with fast and efficient ball carriers. Not liking this at Etihad either. (probable loss) By my count that's 4 more wins and 6 more losses but, as I said, it's way too early to predict anything. I can pretty much guarantee we'll lose one we're expected to win and win one we're expected to lose... otherwise we'd all be much more successful gamblers!
