  1. So if we look at the current ladder positions we have picks 8, 15, 26 & 33 as our top 4 picks. Gold Coast currently have pick 7 and need points, points and more points. Picks 15 & 26 are worth 1841 points and pick 7 is worth 1644. Without a doubt we know this and it is highly likely we will have 2 top 10 picks in this draft, assuming Freo and GC both miss the 8. So then the question is who would we likely take at picks 7 and 8.... which will be pushed out by the GC academy guys.
  2. I think Nick Watson is a must get for us. We need to add more class to our forward line. I hope we can get two top 10 picks and go hard at the draft again this year.
  3. The thing that is confusing me is our game style/method in first 6-8 weeks is very different to what we are doing now. We were focusing more on transition from half back, whereas we have lately been focused on a high press and locking it in forward. This then leads to 30 players all running around in our forward 50 and just constant hack kicks. Both Geelong and GWS beat us the exact same way, wait until we tire and then get us on counter attack. Our best ball users are all in the backline, so we have no issue getting it to the halfway point, but that's when things fall apart. Viney, Sparrow, Trac, Langdon and Hunter are all butchers of the pill. It's a simple as that. Until we sacrifice one of these guys with a silkier ball user, who may only get 15-20 touches but his high impact we won't be troubling anyone.
  4. I guess the best way to look at it is goals per i50, which was 6.85% to 15.22%. So I agree with what you're saying and I actually think the issue is more our game style than connection. Too much emphasis on forward half pressure.
  5. 100% agree. Jefferson is nowhere near AFL level yet. Just because he kicked 4 goals in a 96 point win means absolutely nothing. I watched that game and most of those were joe the gooses.
  6. In a positive note I do need to give a shout out to McVee and Bowey. Along with Salem they are the smartest players in our side and the most skilled. We need the ball in these three guys hands as much as possible and potentially need one to play a bit further up the ground to give us some better looks going inside 50.
  7. That was great. Laughed so hard
  8. Having scans today I think so guess we will know soon.
  9. I do have to question the decision making of our overall selection panel when we have a generational key forward and we choose a journeyman over him. I don't want to see JVR out of this side ever again unless he is injured or needs an actual rest, not to go and play in a wet game down at Casey.
  10. Actually that's not enough. Chandler out, AMW in.
  11. If we don't reward good form in the VFL after that performance I am going to be ropeable. Get your head out of your a$$ Goodwin and ensure there are repercussions for poor form. In: Woewodin, Oliver & van Rooyen Out: Harmes, Smith & Fritsch Chandler & ANB lucky because we literally have no other small forward options.
  12. We have now lost 4 games in the wet and one of the issues is we have a lot of below average skilled players and these guys are found out in bad conditions. ANB, Langdon, Hunter, Trac, Viney (loved his game but still terrible skills), Pickett (he is highly skilled but wtf was that). I am so frustrated watching this side, it is just the worst gamestyle to watch.
  13. Realistically, what tall forward options are there available? Himmelberg & Georgiades? Neither are really a big key forward and play more the 2nd or third tall, maybe less so Himmelberg.
  14. I was impressed with him from what I watched of Casey on the weekend. Think he will be a player.
  15. Interesting this has come up after a game in the wet, when I thought they dominated the game v Collingwood and were a key part of the reason we won. Definitely not worried about this, but I do believe Max is a better option both forward and behind the ball rather than in the centre square.
  16. I'm really not sold on him coming into our side, given he is a liability when the ball hits the deck. We always have a 200cm bloke down there already so not sure we need two.
  17. Agree. We played our best late in the first through to 3 quarter time, when it was raining.
  18. If Smith drops off then I'd move Petty forward and play Tommo back. But I like what he brings when the ball hits the deck, so happy to give him another 2 weeks to show this.
  19. In regards to team changes I think we need to look at the following: - Bowey to come back in to improve foot skills out of the backline - Salem & Kozzy to spend a bit more time through the middle to improve our kicking inside forward (why did we stop using Kozzy there?) - Oliver hopefully back and chomping at the bit - Gawn to play 70% forward/back and Grundy to ruck the majority of the game (Gawn is a much better mark around the ground and forward and Grundy is better in centre bounces with his mobility and ground work) - I would say Petty forward and Tommo back but hard to drop Smith after last week.... though not sure why we dropped Tommo either so who f'ing knows B: Bowey May Lever HB: Salem Petty McVee C: Langdon Oliver Hunter HF: ANB van Rooyen Pickett F: Fritsch Gawn Chandler R: Grundy Petracca Viney Int: Rivers Sparrow Smith Brayshaw Sub: Jordon
  20. But how about we play it at the MCG every now and then AFL.... that might be nice
  21. Not really related to the game last night, which I was at btw and was so flat after..... But I'd like to see us get on board with the retro round theme given it's the two oldest clubs and bring out new jumpers for that game.
  22. Apparently we are also training with different dimensions of the field this week as well....
  23. It's unfathomable to me that De Goey got three for a late, high pump that was vicious and Mansell get's the same for a split second decision to brace for contact and protect himself.
  24. The Mansell appeal is going now apparently. I really hope he gets off, there's literally nothing else players can do in this situations other than pulling up and not actually going for the ball.
