  1. I actually think it's more to do with the team defence the the individual defenders themselves. If our forwards and midfield make it hard for the other side to progress the ball down field, or at least slow it down, then it makes it hard for the tall forwards. The reason those guys have scored so much is that we often leak easy goals due to the press. This is more an issue with learning and implementing the game plan than personal. That said, if we can lure a Lever or May we should definitely do so as quality talls don't grow on trees!
  2. I've seen Jetta spoil the big forwards by using a well timed leap. I agree that height can be misleading. Scarlett was one of the best full backs I've ever seen and only stood 192cm tall.
  3. The 18th is a Sunday and it is at 3:20pm
  4. Saw this today: Average attendance of every side’s home and away matches in 2017 Team Games Average attendance Essendon 10 53991 Richmond 10 50621 Collingwood 10 49923 Carlton 10 44006 Melbourne 10 39510 Hawthorn 10 37709 Western Bulldogs 10 37692 Geelong 10 36399 West Coast 10 36089 Adelaide 10 36051 Fremantle 10 34120 Sydney 10 33005 St Kilda 10 30684 Port Adelaide 9 29391 North Melbourne 10 25091 Brisbane 10 20741 GWS 10 19908 Gold Coast 9 13041 Source: AFL tables Great result if correct.
  5. 7 of those 11 games are against sides who are outside the 8 so I would argue it isn't and there are no excuses should we miss finals. The only relatively easy team to play against this year is Brisbane.
  6. They are trying to help us score and we can't even do it! Jayden Hunt skills are really lacking atm.
  7. What is wrong with our side at the moment? Just look so dumb and lazy.
  8. I'm not sure. I worked there and we were never told how they are remunerated by the insurance providers. They should really have to disclose how much they get per policy, like we do as financial advisors with life insurance.
  9. Of course they do. How would they make money otherwise?
  10. I agree with this. If the players gain more control over where they go as free agents, then the clubs should get more control when they are contracted. This is what happens in American sports and it allows for free movement between clubs.
  11. I had Brad Sewell speak at my company and he mentioned that a portion of all AFL players match payments are donated to charity..... I now know where that goes.
  12. At the time of the incident I wondered if I had missed an elbow to the head or something like that. Re-watching that confirms that it was one of the worst decisions of the day, and at such a crucial time and part of the ground. Salem has eyes for the ball and the player just takes him out of the contest completely. I really hope the club request a please explain from the AFL and wouldn't be against them coming out in the media to have a go at them. Take a stand against this crap!
  13. I really hope we come out and belt the Roos later in the season. It seems similar to the Hawks last year. We got close in the first game of the season but couldn't quite do it. Fast forward to the next game and we out-played them. This is probably the last of our really bad hoodoo's we have to break. Winning in WA of course is another but there are a number of teams with that issue.
  14. Essendon were deplorable against us and also got beaten by Carlton..... I'm not trying to make excuses but people on here really have short memories. A couple of wins and suddenly Essendon 'expect to win'? Give me a break.
  15. With free agency & the ease with which out of contract players get to their preferred destination I'm not too worried about this. Unless we have a top 5 pick, which is unlikely, I would be more than happy to trade this for the right price. We've got talented youth all over the ground, we need more ready to go guns to elevate us into the finals. Once we are there we can look to top up certain areas through free agency and trading, building the team around our already strong core of Hogan, Hunt, Oliver, Viney, Tyson, Petracca, Brayshaw, the McDonalds, Frost, Salem, Weideman. That is such a strong bunch of young players that we need the experienced bodies around them now. I'd also like to see us go after a quick, goal kicker to help Garlett (Kent is not doing it for me atm).
  16. Next time we play North I'd love us to bring in a player we don't care if they get rubbed out. Then just get that player to knock Cunnington's head off and Higgins as well.
  17. The umpires lost control of the game it seemed, which shows it was a poor performance on their behalf. How in a fiercely contested contest you can pay 22 free kicks to 10, or whatever it was, is ridiculous. They missed some very clear ones, none more so than Higgins holding the ball in front of North's goal. Didn't get his foot anywhere near it and the umpire was right there.
  18. Still think we will beat them Friday night at the G. Hopefully Hogan and Gawn back.
  19. I hate this idea for one reason. It does not improve the game at all. The AFL really need to think before making changes, 'does this improve the sport'? If not, then leave it alone.
  20. He's the one I want. Is exactly what we lack, a big, strong full back. Lever is no doubt a good player, but he is more suited to the 2nd or 3rd tall, which we already have 3 in Frost, Omac & Tmac. I would love either of them, but my preference would be May due to his age and size.
  21. If he does Viney, Jones & Tyson will run riot in the middle with Salem, Lewis & Vince to support. It's great to have a multi-dimensional midfield. It will be interesting to see how Oliver goes with a tag though. I think he has unique abilities and would just get the ball so it wouldn't matter,
  22. If Hunt is good to go then I'd only like to see one change, Wagner out and Stretch in. I just feel we are a little top heavy in the back line and that extra runner will help on the large MCG wings. I also feel Wagner is still a little off his game at the moment and could use a week or two at Casey. B: Jetta OMac Hibberd HB: Hunt Frost Lewis C: Vince Jones Tyson HF: Petracca Watts Kent F: Garlett Wedieman Hannan R: Pederson Oliver Viney Int: Bugg Salem TMac Stretch
