  1. Once Gold Coast select all their academy players, plus Hawks and Dogs take their F/S options pick 42 may come into a pick in the mid 30s. You would think that may interest Geelong if they want to be taking multiple players at the draft. They currently have picks 8, 25, 76, 87 & 94.
  2. Plus if Petty was fit we are probably even younger as TMac is out.
  3. It's funny I hear people mention our players getting on and I think out of the top 4-5 teams this year we had a pretty decent amount under 30. Pies had Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Mitchell, Crisp, Howe, Cox, Hoskin-Elliott & Jamie Elliott all 30+. In our team v Collingwood we had May, Gawn, Tom McDonald & Hibberd.
  4. I am in no way panicking if Petty does want to leave in the future, just giving my opinion based on those interviews. He was obviously asked quite pointed questions and he basically said, Oh yeah I probably want to move back to Adelaide at some point. That does not scream of a man desperate to get home to me. So my point was I don't think he was giving it much thought until Adelaide threw money at him.
  5. Oh right it's Saints... bugger they don't look much chop.
  6. All about money. Doubt he was even considering it until $1m was put in front of him.
  7. JT & Co. won't be picking for any specific need I don't believe, as we don't really have a specific need right at this very moment. They will follow the Keep It Simple Stupid mantra and take best available, based on where they rank players. We also won't be swayed by the 'go home' factor, as we have seen time and time again and rightly so. If you aren't backing in your system and club to hold these players then you may as well just give up now. Not saying all will stay, but if you hold on to the majority then it's still a win.
  8. So if we win this week and Brisbane lose to the Roos is that it all sown up? Or do we also need the Pies to lose?
  9. If we are going for flags I'm rolling the dice.... would rather win a flag and get one less pick personally
  10. Still contracted for 2025 so that is no guarantee
  11. I'm so torn between going all out for Reid, or if Sanders gets through to our first pick and we can get up to take O'Sullivan it could be an even better long term result. Let's not forget, Sanders won the Larke medal and put up incredible stats. He was listed in the best for Allies in every game!
  12. I expect we would be wanting something back, such as the Cats future 2nd
  13. The question I'm wondering is can we pick up a Lycett or Hayes as a rookie delisted FA? That may be a good option as the genuine back up to Gawn. Every club has the same issue though if they lose their number one ruck, as there aren't that many decent ones around.
  14. Jon Ralph saying oh he probably has 12 more months. Well Jon he has a 2 year contract mate so can't see why next year will be any different.... Seriously there are so many gutter journos these days
  15. I think we can delist Kye Turner, move Melksham to the rookie list and have 1 less rookie and 1 extra primary list player next season. We probably can do this financially as you would think the three draftees would be on fairly low salary.
  16. Melbourne supporters - we have too many inside mids who can't kick. Melbourne - trades for quicker outside players with skill. Supporters - we have no midfield depth
  17. It's a SOS special.... how that bloke is still working in AFL recruitment is beyond me. Imagine having 60-70% misses at the Giants and Blues and continually given jobs....
  18. Apparently they will be paying some of his salary and it's likely a late pick or even a swap of picks i.e. we give our future 3rd and they give Billings and a future 4th.
  19. Steven May had not fulfilled his talent.... fast forward and he has two AA jackets with Melbourne. Try again
  20. Seriously... why be a supporter haha
  21. Steven May? Michael Hibberd? Ed Langdon? Jake Lever?
  22. Imagine being an Aussie moving to the NBA or the Premier League in the UK. You would hear of AFL players getting homesick and laugh.
  23. Brayshaw over Woewodin & Sparrow over Chandler for mine. But agree that with McAdam in Petracca should move back to starting mid.
  24. You can do it in the NBA and I wouldn't mind it in AFL with some potential safeguards in place. This would be the perfect example of how it could work, if the trade was agreed prior on the proviso that Curtin got through to pick 6. Reid and Curtin would be aware and it would be completely above board.
