  1. Hawthorn with Mitchell. Geelong with Dangerfield. At least Collingwood didn't have to give up a decent player. Picks are all speculative. I'm backing our recruiters in to make the right calls though. They've had a great track record the last 2-3 years.
  2. I don't see why sides like Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn can just trade picks for gun players but then we have to give up a lot more? F' em. We offer a first and 2nd round pick and that's it.
  3. We really need this guy to have a full season without injury. If that happens next year we will be pushing top 4 easily.
  4. The only reason we will part with Watts or Salem will be to get another player like Gaff. We have the picks to satisfy Adelaide on the Lever trade and as history shows, a player gets to their club of choice more often than not. I am not adverse to trading Watts or Salem if it is part of a larger deal but not just for Lever. For what it's worth I'd prefer to trade Watts than Salem due to their respective ages and the need for a large number of quality mids to be successful.
  5. I'll be pretty disappointed if we trade him. He only just turned 22 and has dealt with a lot of injuries and illnesses early in his career. Before getting injured he played some great games.
  6. Think he has one more good year in him and it will be played 85% across half back. We have enough young midfielders that he shouldn't be needed in there for long periods. Could still get a fifth flag if everything comes together!
  7. What they want and what they'll get is two different stories. Lever is out of contract which means their leverage is already diminished. I think Pick 10 & Pick 27 will get it done.
  8. Agree with this. There were a few times where he did this, burst through and slotted goals from 55 out. On other occasions he seemed to hesitate and would try a chip kick which wouldn't come off. He's the kind of player that just always has to back himself as he will kick the goal 9 times out of 10.
  9. GWS seem to be obsessed with high picks......
  10. I don't really understand how people with absolutely no information about an injury, can then say might be time to give it away?
  11. I highly doubt we will be trading Tyson.
  12. They are losing a lot of experience in Mitchell & Priddis out of their midfield & Drew Petrie (not as big a loss). Plus Kennedy & Le Cras turn 31 & 32 next season. They are due for a dip down one would think.
  13. This is it. Of course he's not going to have the highest contested ball numbers, it's not his job. His job is to run hard to create free options along the wins and push hard back to provide an option coming out of attack. It's like people expect every player to be a hard ball king as well as quick on the outside and a marathon runner. It doesn't work like that.
  14. Probably because the Eagles inside mids have struggled. We shouldn't have this problem over the next 5 years with Oliver, Viney, Petracca & Tyson.
  15. I don't always agree with you STMJ but I 100% agree with this comment. Adding Gaff & Lever would propel us into top 4 calculations for next season without a doubt. He would be very valuable on a wing at the G.
  16. I'd happily give up a first round pick for Gaff. We need a hard running outside mid to compliment our inside ball winners.
  17. Standard of play has definitely improved from last season. Really good ball movement by the Vics.
  18. 100% agree with this. I think a couple of things contributed to our poor finish. 1) The 3 x 6 day breaks in row resulted in a number of injuries to key players as well as young players tiring. 2) The players coming back from injury struggled to get back to their best: Watts, Gawn, Salem, Jones, Viney & even Tyson to a lesser extent. I still think a hard running outside midfielder is the key to our success moving forward though. Gaff and Whitfield are the two that come to mind. Pick up one of those two along with Lever and we will 100% play finals in 2018.
  19. I rate him as a second ruck/tall forward. He's a good mark ad a good set shot. We lack serious height i the forward line with most of our players about the 195cm mark.
  20. He's seemed to have struggled with injuries the last two years. 2016 I think he played a large portion of the season under an injury cloud from my understanding and in 2017 he had an interrupted pre-season and an injury mid-season. I hope we back him in as I think he is talented enough and has shown that at his best he is very good. And I'm not just saying that because he is my username and avatar. Also, he is still only 24 so still has a couple more years before he reaches his peak, think 27-30 yo.
  21. It will be interesting to see how they get that done? They've got no picks to play with. Would have to trade established players. I would hope we are staying in the frame for Whitfield if he wants a trade back to Vic.
  22. I understand what you're saying, but we also have no real understanding of the salary cap issues so who's to say we don't have the ability to do this?
