  1. That's the exact reason I think bottom 4 is a good compromise. If you finish 5th last it is highly unlikely you are involved in any form of tanking, granted the same probably applied to 4th last but you have to draw a line somewhere. Was just giving an opinion on an option as you wouldn't want 9th getting lucky and pulling the number 1 pick.
  2. I'm not opposed to a draft lottery, but I think it should be capped to the very lower end of the ladder, such as the bottom 4.
  3. If Harmes leaving allows us to keep JJ I'm fine with that. Also have to remember we will have some decent players coming in the draft this year and have players like Howes, Woewodin and Laurie developing nicely in the 2s. Have always loved Harmesy, but may be a win-win for both the club and Harmesy.
  4. I think it was after he kicked his first goal. I saw him limping off after kicking it and thought it was a corky or something.
  5. Anyone know how young Kynan went in the academy game on the weekend?
  6. I think it's unlikely we appeal this one. Pretty much no one is getting off these tackle suspensions these days so no point. Give him a freshen up for the following week and bring JJ in.

I'm curious to know why it took 2 hours of deliberation to come to a conclusion that 99% of people took about 2 minutes to get to.

One of the key things that our lawyer the other night didn't mention and should've (what the hell are we paying for), is how can the action be classified as a 'strike'? He either touched the ball or was cms off punching the ball away, so how can it possibly be classified as a strike. At worst it could be classified of careless conduct which would totally change the grading.

The notion that JVR didn't have eyes for the footy is completely false. You are entitled to watch the footy up until a point that you can't, especially when you are running back with the flight of the ball. Unless we get a player with eyes in the back of the head it is almost impossible.

What an absolute little [censored]. How about your mate Chol Will? Looking forward to getting stuck into him next time we play

Good work Goody. Time to stand up to this corrupt organisation.

Jeff Gleeson is a major problem and is ruining the tribunal process. He essentially accepted that what JVR did was not unreasonable and was in the play, but then found some way to make out that he was unreasonable, which is totally contradictoray. He then quite obviously held sway over Johnson and Williams, who let' be honest are just token tribunal members to make it look like it isn't just Gleeson calling the shots.

They are completely different actions so can't be compared. Cripps should never have got off, but it was a loophole the AFL closed with their wording.

Going of the media views on this incident I'd say there is a very high chance he gets off this one. As a poster above mentioned, how do they even come to this determination when Chol's swining arm was much worse and had a high chance of causing an injury. Absolutely no consistency from two incidents in the same match. Christian obviously panicked because a stretcher was called out, but just because that happens doesn't mean the act is worthy of suspension. He has shown over the years he is not competent enough to fill the MRO role, so they should be making changes to this process at the end of 2023 and get something better in place.
  15. How did he go playing a round with Min Woo Lee yesterday and did he take the chocolates?
  16. The problem is the AFL won't want to reduce games because it costs them money with the broadcast deals
  17. This is why it may be better if we use 4-5 picks this year to further bolster our list than go all in on getting the number 1 pick
  18. We've noticed his issues with bending over, so keen to know if he feels his fitness is currently a 'work in progress'. Obviously don't expect him to say specifically, but definitely keen to know if it is something he is working through as the season progresses.
  19. I read that Eddie McGuire was saying he thinks the Giants should play 11 games in Canberra and 11 games in Western Sydney. Wtf has he been smoking?
  20. Having seen how successful Southport have been in the VFL comp I think the AFL missed a trick in leveraging their established setup in Queensland
  21. C'mon guys he's played one game in a 100 point drubbing.... let's see how he goes in a proper match
  22. He kicked 40 goals over two years at 19/20.... that's pretty consistent in my book.
  23. Could you imagine! haha that would be the greatest draft win in history.... would that make Reid the first number one pick to join the premier? 😈
  24. I agree DD, I much prefer Grundy in centre bounces and think we look more dynamic when he is in there. Gawn's biggest strength is his marking, both contested and the ability to out-run his opponent and get uncontested marks as well. I fee like once he comes to terms with this he may actually go to a new level and become the best ruck/forward in the game. If Gawn can get more marks in the 20-30m range he will kick a lot more goals. On Monday night all his shots (other than the goal line one) were taken from about 50 metres and I'd say he's at best a 50/50 chance from there but probably more a 40/60. If he can get more marks at the closer range I can easily see him kicking bags of 3, 4 or even more. The other benefit we have is he can drop behind the ball late in quarters if we want to 'kill' the game and not let a side score in red time. I think by the end of the season the Grundy/Gawn combo will be a well oiled machine and lead us to flag 14.
  25. 100%. That's why it would be great if we can get two early picks this year. One being the Freo pick and the other a potential trade up.
