Simon Goodwin Coaching Record
I love people saying, oh but he has the best list. How can anyone actually quantify the 'best list'. I guess you could take the player ratings and then work out the average across each list, but that is skewed because some players haven't played as many games in the most recent history which is what that is calculated by. It's a complete furphy we have the best list. We have a great backline and midfield, but our forwardline would be nowhere near the best on raw talent.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
It's a hard one for Brown. He's probably our smartest forward with his leading patterns, other than maybe Fritsch. But watching him you can just tell he is really struggling with movement. Is it better to play Petty forward, who doesn't have as good craft but is more mobile and better when the ball hits the deck.

If we do have the option to trade for Gold Coasts first pick, I think I would rather take pick 4/5 and pick 6/7 to the draft and get two top 10 picks. Could give us the chance to draft a Durrsma/Watson combo or something like that. You would have to assume that the fact Duursma is playing games at Casey we must have some interest.

Wildcard Round
If they want to have a wildcard weekend I don't really care either way, no one from 7-10 is winning a flag let's be honest. If it creates more money and interest in the AFL then I guess it's good overall for the game. In regards to the 17-6 fixture, I would hate if they play 17 games and then break into teams of 6 and only play off against those sides for spots. That is just a stupid idea and would disadvantage teams who maybe started slowly and are firing late, as say you are 7th by % then that is a huge price to pay with 6 games left. What I would like to see is the first 17 games every team plays and then there is a bye week as the AFL works out the fixture for the remaining 6 games. Teams can then be given a weighted draw based on difficulty to ensure each team has a relatively similar draw. This bye weekend would also then coincide with the opening round of the AFLW fixture, so that there is still football on and then the women's competition will run from there and continue after the men's finals are finished.

Contracted Tomlinson Looks to Move On?
The upside to this is Tommo will be playing for his career in a way, given the way he performs this week may go a long way to another side offering a trade

The team on top literally play 2 rucks....

AFL CEOs Discuss Fixture Revamps & More
Or the alternative is every side plays two of the top 6, middle 6 and bottom 6. Keeps the fixture as even as possible.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Good stuff from Goody calling out the media. One thing we have to remember is that McInerney has had to carry a huge load this year and Maxy has had to do a lot less than previous seasons. This would have to be a factor in how he performed on the weekend and this is only going to be a larger factor into finals. Both Gawn and Grundy will be as fresh as they probably ever have for a finals series.

AFL CEOs Discuss Fixture Revamps & More
I floated the idea of a 17-6 fixture on here a few months ago..... the CEOs are on Dland.

Farewell James Jordon
We can easily look at other FAs to cover him if he leaves, Matt Crouch and Paddy Dow come to mind as similar players. Let's not forget we will be bringing in at a minimum a top 10 pick this year, potentially 2 if we trade with GC.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I'd like to see the club come out and say 'Grundy is in our plans both this season and into the future and we will not be entertaining any trades' just to get the media to stfu. I genuienly despise the AFL media these days, it has become an absolute cesspool.

Wildcard Round
How about we just have an 18 team finals and hand out participation awards. Seriously there is no reason to do this other than to have more games for the sake of it. Maybe the AFL should focus on a fairer fixture rather than spending time talking about wildcard rounds. Absolute peanuts.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Whether it works or not is yet to be seen, but the media are acting like we think Grundy will suddenly become Tom Hawkins and win a coleman. The club obviously just want him to slightly improve his forward craft, so he can do an adequate job down there and then take relief ruck for the remainder of the season. There is absolutely no reason he can't learn the basic running patterns etc. and then create a contest, which is essentially what JVR is doing right now as a forward in his infancy. Grundy is an intelligent person, so one would think he can pick up the basic requirements pretty easily.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
I was actually impressed by his kicking inside 50. Laced out three passes, two resulting with shots on goal and the other Caddy dropped an absolute sitter with no pressure and literally hit him on the chest. He will take a couple of seasons to get an AFL body, but can see him replacing Hunter quite easily in a wing role.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
Tbf to the Pies they lost by 6 points to the premier and 1 point in the prelim, so we can't question their ability to perform on the biggest stage. Sometimes results don't go your way, which was interesting because they won every close game in the regular season from memory. I just think they showed they can continue to perform into the finals, though past history isn't a guarantee of future performance as all investment ads tell us.... Port on the other hand have a history of choking in finals, the best example being one of the most insipid performances in recent memory against the Dogs in 2021. But again, thinking history will just repeat is too simplistic a view.

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Brisbane
It's going to be very interesting to see how this season plays out. Can Collingwood and Port continue their form throughout the end of the season and finals? I think Collingwood definitely can given last year, but I've got a feeling Port will crash and burn, which would be nice if it happens to see Kane Cornes have a whinge. Will Brisbane be able to go one better than the last few years, or will it be same old for them? I think the jury is still out and without a home final it could be curtains. Will our intense training bloke throughout the byes pay dividends? Who knows how big a difference this will make come the finals, but there is something liberating about being the underdogs and just going out there and playing footy.

We should definitely see if any of the Suns players want to come home as a result of everything going on up there.
