Yes however don't ignore what's happening before our very eyes. We perceive Jesse and his value to the team in pretty much only one way. We want a lead up forward who will take a big grab, kick a heap of goals bust open packs and cause havoc amongst opposition defences. That's a one dimensional appoach. Jesse has plenty of strings to his bow. The club understands what he can do if he is released up the ground........... and we've seen him do it. Dont knock this guy if he doesn't snag 5 goals. Look at how he is impacting the game in other ways. What we've got is a unique footballer. He is going to be huge for us and my feeling is he wants to be amongst it. Dont expect him to stick around the forward 50 an entire game if another approach is required.

Okay I have just cancelled a game of golf at a very good golf club because of this development. There is no way I will miss this debut. He'll will freeze over before I miss the debut of the Trac.

One of the best games I can remember. Schwarz tucked it under the huge paw at the end of the right arm, raised it high,strolled into the goal square and banged it through. The Carlton fans were ropable. And it was Schwarz who laid the shepherd in the forward pocket at the end of that game to allow a skinny Cameron Bruce to waltz in and kick the sealer. Hunt should stay for all those reasons and more. On Sunday he was the third demon into the melee and he disappeared in a sea of bodies. No hesitation, no regard for self presevation...... just flying the flags for his mates. The players milling around on the fringes of the melee was instructive (Pederson excused because he was ushering Hogan away) That's the type of player I want in a Melbourne jumper. More Hunt, thats what we need, not less.

I paid a bit of attention to this conversation between Riewoldt and the umpire on the replay. I thought Riewoldt said " watch Pederson " I went back to the replay of Riewoldt's goal and Pederson wasn't anywhere near him. I may be wrong, but that's what I reckon I heard.

Wagner and Hunt are new to it but neither one looks like he will be a passenger. I felt much better when Dunn went back into the side because he is a much more reliable conveyance than Garland. I get the feeling that Garland's era is coming to a close because of the qualities the new defenders are bringing to the table.
