In the first 20 minutes of round one, I looked at Watts and thought 'this guy might be an elite distributor of the ball with some real upside'. Tonight he provided nothing of value to the team unless you count guarding space, making half hearted leads or looking for soft possessions valuable. How frustrated must Dawes Viney Cross and Jones be with his lack of fire and agression. Give someone else a game who would kill to get the ball to a team mate. Enough !!!!!!!

I'm no fan of umpires and it's pointless to get too upset about it but Clint and Maldon boy are spot on. The umpires at the G tonight embarrased themselves especially that fool who paid the Melbourne free kick on the wing to compensate for the two idiotic Sydney frees immediately prior, Give me strength !!!!!!!! Umpire the game fairly or get out.!! These people are being paid thousands to do this to the game. Do the job right !

Classic commentary ??? Hands down the best I can recall goes back quite a bit. 4 words only, it must have been a set up yet it descibed the play perfectly. It was a pre season game involving North Melbourne. The game starts, the ball is bounced and the commentator says " Hepburn springs, German shepherds." Laugh??? I almost fell off the couch.

If I had gone to Dan Murphys Friday before last and not the Melbourne Football club Office, I could have bought 4 fine bottles of single malt whisky instead of memberships to the mighty dees. I went tonight. I'll tell you my highlight. Within 1 minute and three seconds of the start, Richmond score a goal. That, in previous years, would have been the start of a flood of goals by the opposition. The fact no such thing happened tonight was enough of a sign of change for me to believe we have a new team to support this year ! Oh happy day !!!!!!! ( and didn't no.24 play well !!! ) ))
