We have no forward line, if West Coast aren't generous - we mightn't score at all.

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
KingDingAling replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
We were competitive last week, if we can do the same this week - happy days. All we can ask is that the boys have a dip. As we all know, it is no fun going into games expecting a hiding. If the lads keep having a crack, then at least it gives us supporters some interest in the MFC. Last week, Nathan Jones was inspirational, let's hope he can lift others to play with such passion for the jumper. -
Clark played with Nathan Jones like passion. It is rare to see in the red and blue. If Clark doesn't get back, we'll all be disappointed, but as it stands he is a MFC player - so let's get behind him. If he does return and can play injury free, he will reward us ten fold. I don't know why people go on about money, we've had highly paid squibs on our list for a decade now, at least Clark plays with passion and courage.

Scully lacks composure. He is always too rushed and robotic.
-
Assuming he'll make it to next year.

It is a shame, guys with so much talent like Garlett and Jurah, they get people in their ear telling them how good they are. They get to the big time and think that talent will get them through. Talent only gets you in the door, hard work starts then. But these guys get in the door, get lauded with even more praise and it goes to their head. They should've played held onto Garlett, played him on Ollie Wines, just to show him how far off he is in an AFL environment. Garlett was more impressive than even Wines in under 18's, yet the difference between then in the AFL would be massive. These immensely talented kids beat themselves.

They tried that last time, we were stuck with McKenzie.

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014

Sadly it's going to take another few years to get some of these highly paid grand stand sitters off our list. We need to start drafting well and developing our own. We were on the right track doing this, we just didn't draft right, then we went away from the idea of developing our own superstars. Draft go-getters with mature bodies and aggressive attitudes. (ie, Ollie Wines, Jesse Hogan, Matt Crouch type players). Do not draft project players. For every Jackson McCrae - there is 10 Jordan Gysberts. -
Plus 1.
-
Yeah, we made a mess of it. We should've kept one of our second rounders this year as well.
-
Moloney is the only bloke to prosper at another club, that is because he should never of been let go in the first place. Blokes like Martin, Buckley, Morton, Gysberts, if they were going to be any good, we'd of seen it at MFC. No signs of those blokes even been good at VFL level.

Watts will end up a better player than Riewoldt - but not have as good a career. I don't know why Watts is compared to Nic Nat. Jack isn't a ruckman. Watts moves like a young David Schwartz.
-
Pretty hard for the kid. Comes from a long way back, biggest junior talent I've seen in the past decade.
-
If that is true, that would explain everything. If this is the reason, hopefully Mitch comes out, he'll have a lot of support. Women and kids are no joke, one only has to look at the Male suicide statistics the government cover up.
-
We played with more intent, was good to see. The game plan was good, but we simply have no forwards. Could get messy this week. A full strength West Coast are a 15 goal better side than a depleted Saints outfit.
-
Women and kid, that'll do it to ya. Poor bloke.
-
He was electric. Certainly found his niche. In a side of turnover merchants, M.Jones stands out as a good user of the football - as does Watts.
-
Sounds good in theory, but Jamar is scared of kicking. Never have I seen a player scared to kick a football - enter Mark Jamar.
-
I won't start worrying until they throw him on the '2-4'
-
Good piece there Arrow

I agree, if indeed we even have a strength and conditioning coach, then it's time he earned his pay. Toumpas is going to be very good - but not until he has a strong core and a better tank.

Out: Pederson, Brynes. In: Rick Nixon.

Work/life balance.. People went up in arms about Demetriou taking leave when the AFL was a shambles, about Roos taking a holiday when taking the Dees job - a shambles. It is no surprise people complain about Clark posting pics on twitter - when his side currently lacks a forward line and is a shambles. Clark is a well paid bloke - employed to kick goals - taking pics on twitter at a time when his side has no forward line, I understand why people are frustrated, But, at the same time.. Some people simply cannot play football when they have issues going on. Most can, but some can't. The club backed itself to handle Mitch, now it's time to step up, I am glad the club has give him leave - but I do understand supporter frustration. Frustration that is compounded by not having Dawes out there - who was also paid a stack to help our forward structure - and also having Jesse Hogan injured.
-
No doubt Clarks leave will give him time to get over his injuries anyway. Can't help to take some weight off his foot for a while - might do him some good. Hogan and Dawes out there would all but ease the pain many are feeling about the Clark loss.
-
I agree.. If things are pear shaped personally - then it can make other areas of life very difficult. If our club can't provide Clark with support, then we'd be in strike. Thankfully the club are behind Clark. We did draft Clark when we knew he had problems, we backed ourselves as a club to provide for Mitch - I am glad we are fulfilling our end of the deal.
