  1. That is because we draft poorly. Go tell Port Adelaide the draft doesn't matter... Wines, Wingard, Hartlett and Boak - A very good core of quality players from quality draft picks. MFC just drafted terribly, Gysberts, Cook, Morton, Toumpas and Strauss were all laughable picks. MFC needed go getters and ball winners, determined players who show absolute resolve - and the best we could come up with is that lot - stick men with no aggression.
  2. Nah, Roos knows what he is doing, it will take time. Roos and PJ really do need to commit, I've never said that before - but these players need stability.
  3. Mumford had 60 hit outs today, that is far too much.. Our side is starting too far behind in the ruck stakes - and practically no forward line. When the ruckman cannot give our mids first use - and our mids don't have any targets to hit up forward - makes life hard. On top of that, we really need clean disposal out of the midfield, to even be a chance to hit a target going forward, Spencer getting smashed makes it impossible.
  4. I think VFL is their level.
  5. We are getting smashed in the tackle count. No surprise to see Jones and Viney leading our tackle count.
  6. If GWS get another goal, will make it pretty hard for us to come back.
  7. I agree with this 100% I am the same, for the first time in 30 years of supporting MFC, I will no longer schedule life around watching MFC games.
  8. Jones can name his price. If he wants 2 mil a year, cut half the side.
  9. Saints are killing the Eagles, embarrassing them. If this wasn't at PS, it would be no where near competitive.
  10. That is an interesting take on things. Probably one of the better posts I've read in this thread.
  11. Picket, you probably went against the grain bud. Just brush it off mate.
  12. I like players with passion. We are improving, but MFC has to earn my families membership. There is a precedent that has been set by James Frawley and I support that. After 7 years of mediocrity, the club now has to earn members - which is fair enough. Mitch Clark gets back out there, that will be put to bed, Clark plays with passion - Nathan Jones like passion. I support Mitch Clark and I hope he does not read this thread.
  13. Mainstream is Scully and Toumpas. I don't care what Emma disagrees with, she is only relevant to getting the draft order right - the night before the draft, that just takes close contracts. What I am interested in are people who can identify talent, go out on a limb and assess that talent - how they see it. They don't care how others see it. Fremantle of recent times are a good example, Hill, Fyfe, Ballantyne, Barlow.. All outfield picks, Hill wasn't expected to go at 3, Barlow was completely overlooked. I had Martin and WInes coming to MFC, so I don't really care what Emma Quayle thinks the night before the draft.
  14. I can only judge from what I've read. It might be best for Mitch Clark to get out of the footy field. From everything I've read, this might just be a case of - let's play some footy mate. True dinkin Aussie spirit, let's go Mitchy boy. Get around him.
  15. Clark is an on field leader, this guy is tough as nails and plays with passion. It will be a sad day if he leaves, he buys and sells Frawley. So let's not make this a chip thread. Clark would be perfect for Hogan, Clark pays his way if we can get him out there. I still believe in Mitch Clark, I don't care if anyone else does, but Clark is a star. Come back Mitch, you have some loyal supporters who have your back mate. I won't be renewing my membership until you return.
  16. Injury prone/soft.
  17. If Clark needs to go home, then I wish him well.. Otherwise, I hope he digs deep and can play by years end. Clark makes a big difference on a football field. Clark is tough, strong, dominant and plays with passion, I wish him well.
  18. Having Crossy out there is like having a playing coach. He'd be drilling into the players everything Roos says. If Roos from the sidelines, Cross on the ground and Jones through his actions - cannot get this point across, then no one can. It is the perfect learning blend, Roos message should always resonate, during the week - and out on the ground. These players no longer have an excuse.
  19. The lads are doing well - given the talent that is out there. It isn't in their head, we just haven't go the cattle. Matty Jones was only a solid VFL player when he came in. His skills last year looked better than 70% of our list - it has nothing to do with mind set. Thank god for Paul Roos, because getting players like Vince and Tyson in - has boasted our talent by 50%. Most of our players aren't mentally stifled, they are just not that talented - and not that aggressive. Jones will lead the way, Viney, Tyson and Hogan all have big future, that will improve the side, let the media preach that Roos improved our mindset. Roos would know better.
  20. Emma is reactive, she cares only about her reputation. It is unfortunate, because back in the day I rated Emma right up there. By going mainstream, Emma now cares more about getting the order right come draft day - than about evaluating with a focus on the long term. Anyone can get the order right at night out, but not anyone can go out on a limb and declare Wines of the best few in the draft - knowing Port will take him at 7. As much as Big Footy has gone down on the drain of recent, it is still the bench mark for drafting - outside of the AFL scouts, who have more time to put into scouting.
  21. Absolutely spot on. It is the only way.
  22. So long as their intentions are pure and they aren't rattling the boat, then good on them.
  23. Wouldn't hurt Mick, wouldn't happen, but Roos is a LONG way ahead of Malthouse. I don't rate Malthouse as a coach.
  24. Also fits the bill. Either way, we can drive up the price of O'Rourke/Plowman and then target Boyd/Patton, or vice versa. GWS are going to be under pressure to balance their cap in the next few years - they'll be trying to pay as little to mid tier players as they can. I think O'Rourke and Plowman are players that could come to us relatively easily. Do we need KP's more than mids? If we can tie up Hogan, then a Hogan/Boyd combo would go along way to getting MFC back on track.
