  1. If GWS get another goal, will make it pretty hard for us to come back.
  2. I agree with this 100% I am the same, for the first time in 30 years of supporting MFC, I will no longer schedule life around watching MFC games.
  3. Jones can name his price. If he wants 2 mil a year, cut half the side.
  4. Saints are killing the Eagles, embarrassing them. If this wasn't at PS, it would be no where near competitive.
  5. That is an interesting take on things. Probably one of the better posts I've read in this thread.
  6. Picket, you probably went against the grain bud. Just brush it off mate.
  7. I like players with passion. We are improving, but MFC has to earn my families membership. There is a precedent that has been set by James Frawley and I support that. After 7 years of mediocrity, the club now has to earn members - which is fair enough. Mitch Clark gets back out there, that will be put to bed, Clark plays with passion - Nathan Jones like passion. I support Mitch Clark and I hope he does not read this thread.
  8. Mainstream is Scully and Toumpas. I don't care what Emma disagrees with, she is only relevant to getting the draft order right - the night before the draft, that just takes close contracts. What I am interested in are people who can identify talent, go out on a limb and assess that talent - how they see it. They don't care how others see it. Fremantle of recent times are a good example, Hill, Fyfe, Ballantyne, Barlow.. All outfield picks, Hill wasn't expected to go at 3, Barlow was completely overlooked. I had Martin and WInes coming to MFC, so I don't really care what Emma Quayle thinks the night before the draft.
  9. I can only judge from what I've read. It might be best for Mitch Clark to get out of the footy field. From everything I've read, this might just be a case of - let's play some footy mate. True dinkin Aussie spirit, let's go Mitchy boy. Get around him.
  10. Clark is an on field leader, this guy is tough as nails and plays with passion. It will be a sad day if he leaves, he buys and sells Frawley. So let's not make this a chip thread. Clark would be perfect for Hogan, Clark pays his way if we can get him out there. I still believe in Mitch Clark, I don't care if anyone else does, but Clark is a star. Come back Mitch, you have some loyal supporters who have your back mate. I won't be renewing my membership until you return.
  11. If Clark needs to go home, then I wish him well.. Otherwise, I hope he digs deep and can play by years end. Clark makes a big difference on a football field. Clark is tough, strong, dominant and plays with passion, I wish him well.
  12. Having Crossy out there is like having a playing coach. He'd be drilling into the players everything Roos says. If Roos from the sidelines, Cross on the ground and Jones through his actions - cannot get this point across, then no one can. It is the perfect learning blend, Roos message should always resonate, during the week - and out on the ground. These players no longer have an excuse.
  13. The lads are doing well - given the talent that is out there. It isn't in their head, we just haven't go the cattle. Matty Jones was only a solid VFL player when he came in. His skills last year looked better than 70% of our list - it has nothing to do with mind set. Thank god for Paul Roos, because getting players like Vince and Tyson in - has boasted our talent by 50%. Most of our players aren't mentally stifled, they are just not that talented - and not that aggressive. Jones will lead the way, Viney, Tyson and Hogan all have big future, that will improve the side, let the media preach that Roos improved our mindset. Roos would know better.
  14. Emma is reactive, she cares only about her reputation. It is unfortunate, because back in the day I rated Emma right up there. By going mainstream, Emma now cares more about getting the order right come draft day - than about evaluating with a focus on the long term. Anyone can get the order right at night out, but not anyone can go out on a limb and declare Wines of the best few in the draft - knowing Port will take him at 7. As much as Big Footy has gone down on the drain of recent, it is still the bench mark for drafting - outside of the AFL scouts, who have more time to put into scouting.
  15. So long as their intentions are pure and they aren't rattling the boat, then good on them.
  16. Wouldn't hurt Mick, wouldn't happen, but Roos is a LONG way ahead of Malthouse. I don't rate Malthouse as a coach.
  17. Also fits the bill. Either way, we can drive up the price of O'Rourke/Plowman and then target Boyd/Patton, or vice versa. GWS are going to be under pressure to balance their cap in the next few years - they'll be trying to pay as little to mid tier players as they can. I think O'Rourke and Plowman are players that could come to us relatively easily. Do we need KP's more than mids? If we can tie up Hogan, then a Hogan/Boyd combo would go along way to getting MFC back on track.
  18. I think the tide will turn in 2016. Roos will get away from moneyball/stop gap and the focus will be on youth and development. So far Roos has found the right balance, adding Cross, Vince - whilst also maximising pick 2 to get in Salem and Tyson. GWS might buy into a Boyd or Patton trade - given how strong the KP's are this year. It fits in with the trend of GWS buying themselves time until their side is settled. GWS are managing their list well, it makes no sense to have 3 potential superstar KP's in at the one time, while other sides push their price up. They should trade Boyd or Patton for a younger KP, that way they can manage their list/cap better and give themselves a better chances of retain their players in the long term. Also, front loading contracts like GWS do, makes more sense to front load 2 - then another one 2 years later, instead of 3 at once and pay overs.
  19. I think the AFL is desperate for us to remain in the competition. It was clear the AFL had no confidence in our previous board or coach. The AFL held back allocating us a priority pick, but I believe they will at the end of the year - they have faith in Roos and know he'll spend this pick wisely. In the past, we've thrown away quality picks, so I am not surprised the AFL chose to wait - hoping we'd make rapid improvement. I agree with you that Bomber and Roos would be a great combo, but financially it seems beyond us. The AFL can't be seen as favoring the MFC. But I think the next CEO will do more for us than the current CEO.
  20. It might be a bit early to call on MacRae, he looks good - but I will reserve judgement to the end of the year. Stringer looks good as well, I don't think we'll be taking any players off the bullies, they should have freed up space in their cap. I agree with you on Jack Steven, that would be one of our better results - the kid is already elite, he is very good, underrated atm. St Kilda should also have freed up cap space and if Stevens left, it wouldn't be to our club. Sidebottom would be perfect, dual sided, inside - outside - midfielder who can play forward or back.. Loves a goal and clean by foot. I think Sidebottom is the one we should go hard at. He'll have a good year this year, and he'll also probably get limited time in the midfield - given their luxury of superstar mids. Collingwood have Beams back, Pendles runs through there, Swan, now Adams - with up and comers like Kennedy, Elliot and also Harry O and McCaffer spending time in the middle. I think Shiel will go to Richmond, he dates Williams daughter, but he'd be a good target for us - as would O'Rourke, who fits the Tyson mould of having a lot of talent, yet for reasons outside of his control, he hasn't been able to play to his potential, I think we could package a deal that could see us snare this kid as steak knives. GWS are smart to trade for picks, at least until they know the foundation of who wants to stay/go - and the structure of their side going forward, picks buy them time.. I think we should continue to deal with GWS, it is a unique situation where both sides can win out of the right deal.
  21. The picket fence speaks a lot of sense.
  22. Bomber Thompson is Essendon. Also, Thompson knows how long it takes to build a list. MFC is only in it's early stages, Thompson wouldn't be looking to go the hard yards. Why risk his legacy? We need Roos to sign on, he is the bloke to get us out of this shambles.
  23. We need to get players on the park, there will come a time where certain players will either have to get out on the park - or get off our list. The reality of it is - from my perspective - the MFC is in VERY dire shape atm, I don't think Roos anticipated this, but he is absolutely the man for the job. If MFC continue to lose games, not only will your instant noodles fans not jump on - but your current members will start to jump off. MFC have been woeful for over 6 years, PJ is now starting to realize that he can't bank on members resigning anymore - they are jumping off. The club owes the members and at present the club is not winning, the list is in bad shape and our big name players - they have no passion to play for MFC. I do believe the job is tough, because Roos needs to find the balance of improving the list - all with an emphasis of youth. Neeld's money ball strategy was a short cut. He was in a hurry to draft forwards and it is little surprise Dawes and Clark can't perform, the club didn't do it's homework, Dawes was done and Clark wanted to go home. Now we can't get them on the park because Dawes is done and Clark wants to go home. Surprise surprise.
