  1. If we did get picks 1,2,3.. We could trade 2 of these picks for Dangerfield, Sidebottom, or something along those lines. That is exactly what it will take to make up competitive. If the AFL continue to be reactive to the protests of opposition clubs, then we will continue to dwindle at the bottom. It is unfortunate, but we simply do not have the talent. We have a competitive core, but beyond that, our depth would struggle in the VFL - actually it does struggle in the VFL.
  2. I want picks, I am not ashamed to say that. Just because they didn't work in the past, that means very little - especially when you take Morton, Gysberts, Toumpas and Cook. Quality picks - used right - will go a LONG way to turning this club around. I subscribe to the 'lack of talent' theory, because I've watched MFC churn out talentless stick figures since 2008. I want picks, I want quality, big bodied, aggressive ball winners - in the Mould of Wines, Selwood, Parker, Sloane, Martin, Prestia. Players we should've targeted in the past - but didn't. That is why we are in this mess, through poor drafting. We practically skipped 4 drafts. Adelaide know the importance of skipping even a single draft, we practically skipped 3-4. We need help, we simply do not have the talent.
  3. No, it doesn't work like that. If Frawley leaves we should get a pick between 2-4, depending where we finish on the ladder. But, that is separate to the AFL allocating us a PP, which should also be between pick 2-4. If Frawley does leave, his absence is worth every bit of a 2-4 pick. We do take Frawley for granted. But, then comes the issue of is Frawley worth 800k, I'd say no.. We could get a younger, better player for that coin.
  4. I think on the open market, anything between 4-10.. But, it comes down to how much Frawley is worth for MFC. Given the situation that we are currently in, Frawley is worth more to us - than open market value. So if Frawley was to leave, then we should get pick 2-3. I would prefer Frawley stay with us, but not for anything more than 550k.
  5. If we use our picks like we should, then it should be our last fix. We now have the right teachers, there are no excuses, but IMO we do need picks.
  6. We should've got a PP last year, we should get one this year. If we don't - then we'll stay near the bottom. The AFL just needs to work out whether MFC spending a decade at the bottom is good for the league. Ideally, we end up with 1,2,3, we really need that as well. Obviously some of that hinges on Frawley.
  7. Some sides could cope and remain competitive, I don't think we'll be remotely competitive against the top sides. The gulf between the best and MFC will be embarrassing for the AFL this year. Having Jamar, Dawes, Hogan and Garland out there would save us from big blow outs. We might be able to pinch a few wins for the year, but that would be optimistic.
  8. Not only did Port draft well the past 5 years, but they've still got good kids coming through. MFC have basically missed 4 drafts due to terrible drafting, some of the more quality picks aren't even at our club anymore. I think we might be in a bit of strife.
  9. With Trengove being demoted to the VFL, Grimes on his way. I thought it would be a good time to bump. Nathan Jones was appointed years too late. Trengove was handed the captaincy without earning it - now Trengove is in the VFL. Jones will eventually lift this side, but he should've been given the captaincy much earlier.
  10. I've probably forgotten more about football - than Mark Neeld knows. Paul Roos has probably forgotten more about football in the past week - than I know. That is the difference between coaches. Our players never respected Neeld, I was told this early on in his tenure - I was disappointed.
  11. If Clark walks away from MFC, it will set us back a long way. Supporters need to forget the coin - put it aside, Clark is well paid, deal with it. But if Clark is to walk away, it will really set this club back. When Clark last played, he was a shining light in an ordinary side.. I think our current side is more advanced - certainly more experienced. If Clark, Dawes and Hogan get on the park, they'll make a massive difference, same goes with Jamar. Mark Jamar is probably our biggest loss atm, if we come up against sides with decent ruckman, we are nearly no chance. Jamar is very important, I am critical of him because he doesn't kick much - but what he does, he wins nearly all taps, he is a brilliant tap ruckman.
  12. The 2 best coaches going around atm. They are just spot on, really know their football.
  13. Just out of curiosity, has Roos said this?
  14. Keep Trengove in the VFL until he shows improvement. Toumpas can stay there, get comfy Jimmy. Grimes and Watts could do with a stint there. If it were up to me, I'd leave all 4 there. At least till they shown some form.
  15. Not at 30. Throw some coin at some quality kids, that way we might actually have a future.
  16. Four drafts collecting stick figures and project players - when we need mature bodies and ball winners. What a farce.
  17. Kelly is going to be a jet - which is expected of pick 2. There will be a lot of fans whinging down the line. But most clubs expect to select jets with pick 2. Tyson alone is worth pick 2, he has been brilliant, exactly what we need. What a great start of the year Tyson has had.
  18. That is because we draft poorly. Go tell Port Adelaide the draft doesn't matter... Wines, Wingard, Hartlett and Boak - A very good core of quality players from quality draft picks. MFC just drafted terribly, Gysberts, Cook, Morton, Toumpas and Strauss were all laughable picks. MFC needed go getters and ball winners, determined players who show absolute resolve - and the best we could come up with is that lot - stick men with no aggression.
  19. Nah, Roos knows what he is doing, it will take time. Roos and PJ really do need to commit, I've never said that before - but these players need stability.
  20. Mumford had 60 hit outs today, that is far too much.. Our side is starting too far behind in the ruck stakes - and practically no forward line. When the ruckman cannot give our mids first use - and our mids don't have any targets to hit up forward - makes life hard. On top of that, we really need clean disposal out of the midfield, to even be a chance to hit a target going forward, Spencer getting smashed makes it impossible.
  21. We are getting smashed in the tackle count. No surprise to see Jones and Viney leading our tackle count.
