  1. In fairness to Jesse Hogan, he hasn't even played a game for the club, so it is bit hard for him. But experienced players like Frawley I'd be expecting more from them at present. Thankfully we'll be well compensated.
  2. New posters need to push through the barriers - the barriers sometimes being a boys club. This site has always been very tolerant in regards to free speech, that is what I've found anyway. So there is no excuse for anyone not to voice their opinion. Posters might hit a lot of resistance, but they need to push through that.
  3. I wasn't overly impressed with Durdin last night. Be interesting to see Goddard, I have not seen him play yet. If a KP doesn't establish himself by the end of the year, IMO we might look to off load the pick.
  4. Vince played most his career at Adelaide. No doubt Vince wanted to stay there, but smart trading by the Crows. If I was a Crows supporter, I'd be happy the club moved on Vince and got a 15 year player in Crouch.
  5. The talk in this draft is Beam at 29, Hanners at 30 and Sloane at 44. Sloane is the one that got away, apparently we'd promised him we'd take him - then picked Bennell. I remember I was at work at the time, my cousin rang me and said you guys taken Bennell - I said, was Sloane gone? He said no, he went to Adel at 44. I hung up on him when he said we also overlooked Shuey. I would've taken Watts at no 1 though. It was Rich Vs Watts for mine, Rich was the safe pick, I was in WA that year, he was killing WAFL. But, I'd of still risked and taken Watts, it was a risk, it hasn't paid off, but I am not mad at the club for that pick. It is the later picks that have killed us, it is overlooking leaders.. Leaders like Shuey, Parker and Sloane, that have killed us. Strauss was an outside bit player when drafted, taken far too early... Blease was a speculative X factor type - taken ahead of a Vic Metro captain in Shuey, even a great ball user then. It is not development that has killed Melbourne, it is the fact we drafted unproven, speculative players. Gysberts, Cook, they weren't proven. They were ordinary picks and we have payed the price. Back on the 2008 draft, I agree NO ONE in the top 10 has really killed it, but that isn't what has killed us either. Watts isn't what has killed us, it overlooking our needs that have killed us. We needed leaders and ball getters - and we taken speculative stick figures.
  6. If Frawley leaves, I'd welcome Shiel with open arms. Last year Shiel looked like a player bordering on elite. He'd be a great pick up, another leftie and a bit of pace. I'd gladly give up our first rounder, I don't think GWS would do it. They are going to need clean ball users to deliver forward, Scully, Ward and Palmer aren't great ball users.
  7. Watts has great football skills. Maybe his game lacks maturity, there are simple things Watts doesn't do. Jack Watts must be wishing he didn't test so well over the 20m during draft camp. When a guy runs the 20m in 2.73 (I think it was), it is a little wonder fans are so frustrated by Watts lack of intensity. Jack Watts needs to find that motivation, what motivates him? What makes him tick? Does he really want to be an AFL footballer? And how bad does he want it? I think these are very simple questions Watts needs to ask himself. While the players all need to buy into Paul Roos, I think Jack Watts actually needs to buy into AFL football. Port Adelaide as a club, they have the 'Mayweather mindset' going, Nath Jones has it and Jack Watts desperately needs it.
  8. He hinted that Watts could be a female, so there isn't much point going too hard - too early - on him. So Roos is going to just nurture him.
  9. Roos would've seen how Watts responded under Craigy and Neeld. The hard line approach shown by Neeld clearly didn't work. Watts played better footy under Neil Craig. Be interesting what he says on 360, he is up next.
  10. All Roos is saying is that he has bigger problems than Jack Watts. I thought that was obvious.
  11. I would rather have Hartlett, he buys and sells that lot. Hamish was my pick in under 18's. I like Rich, but thought Harlett had a more complete and rounded game. Yarran and Ziebell have achieved no more than Watts - not sure I'd take them over Watts even now. I'd take Hurley over Watts, but only on sheer intent, not on performance. Hurley does show clear intent to get the football though, I like that aggression. Hill was a speculative pick by Fremantle, I don't really factor him in as a miss, he was one of my favs - but there were too many variables leading into the draft. Hill went from a 10-15 pick to pick 3, it was a risky pick at a time where MFC couldn't really afford to take a risk.
  12. It is exciting how big Salem looks, considering how small he looked on draft day - standing next to Freeman. So Salem has put on a lot size - in a limited amount of time. It is well noted his health issue that caused him to drop weight. But one would think, Salem would put on more size coming into next season. The consensus on draft day was that Salem would take time. But he'll be ready made to slot in beside Viney next year. He'll be a sizable young lad with a hard edge - and a second to none skill set. We have the makings of a good core group, Viney, Tyson, Salem. Let's hope Toumpas can come good.
  13. Most the time I think the media are a bit hard on Watts. But in this instance I hope they are ruthless. Jack Watts has two options, 1. Play football, 2. Retire. I have no time for Watts, I don't want to see him play for MFC ever again. I wish Roos would just cut him now. But unfortunately he cannot do that, so Jack has a lifeline, for christs sakes use it.
  14. It weeds out the Jetta's of the comp, I don't mind the rule.
  15. For all those who doubted Jones, where are you now?
  16. The crowd cheered when Watts got the ball. I think that sums up Watts. I think the fans have had enough, they've all decided Watts is done. Mentally, it will be hard to come back from, you're own club think you are a joke. Watts has to fight, there is no other way but to grit your teeth and fight. Personally, I see no future for Watts or Trengove, neither have aggression.
  17. I had to look twice when I seen Cross take overhead marks today, I was thinking who is that. Cross is ULTRA impressive. Most important pick up, he is a leader and teacher.
  18. I'd of kept him in the VFL all year. But no sub, if he is in now, play him. He is hard as nails, I just thought Roos would want to sift through a few before hand.
  19. Salem will be better than Kelly. So will Tyson.
  20. Nathan Jones is a legitimate A grader. Salem will do as he pleases, even in AFL. Terlich will strengthen Casey. Tom McDonald is lucky Garland is injured. Viney and Tyson are taking this club forward. Brynes will strengthen the development squad at Casey. Dawes is worth 10 goals, gives us structure. Watts should've stuck to basketball. I love Roos.
  21. The AFL will keep the division. Unfortunately MFC are on the wrong end of it. Luckily we have PJ and luckily Tania Hird retired Vlad.
  22. It peaked in 2009, it has been steady ever since. My highlight was in '09' when West Coast were allowed to throw - instead of handball.
  23. Viney wanted it back. That is why he didnt sheppard. Pedo was too slow.
