  1. That was a horrible quarter of football by both teams. Must be a tricky breeze because there was some howlers. Tomlinson gifted a goal to Box Hill when he missed White with a 25m pass up the middle from a kick out. Went straight to a Hawks player who strolled in to goal. Moniz Wakefield and Laurie the most impressive of the Dees listed players.
  2. On first glance, there appears to be only 2 changes from last week: In: Hibberd, Buntine Out: T Mac, Taj
  3. Just saw some footage of the Captains Run on Instagram. It was fairly brief, but noticed all the big guns were there. Trac, Clarry, Max, Viney, Fritsch, Brown, May, Langdon, Brayshaw. Bedford and Spargo were there. The only player I didn't notice was Lever, but that doesn't mean he was absent.
  4. I'm more concerned as to whether Viney plays. He didn't train yesterday, whereas Lever did. I suppose we'll know more after the Captain's Run.
  5. They were the obvious ones, given Bedford lives with Kozi and Dogga, and Spargo is close mates with that group.
  6. Has he ever played CHF? Even last week he seemed to play close to goals. Max said that Weid has been training for the role of backup ruckman. With Tmac still having another 2 years on his contract, and JVR waiting in the wings, it's every man for himself. By that I mean the inform player will get the gig. Weid will not get preferential treatment.
  7. Junior is well and truly back in the fold. He presented Jordon with his debut jumper, and was a part of the MCG Premiership celebration. As others have said, it was a 2 way street. If his management screwed us over post Brownlow, then the club had to make decisions based on what they thought was his true worth was post the 2002 season. Players like Breen, Bruce and Whelan were coming off rookie contracts and had to be paid. We'd been through salary cap breaches 5 years earlier. Trading Woey didn't destroy the fabric of the club like tapping Junior Mac on the shoulder. We continued to play finals. The fact that Woey continued to attend Pat Players functions meant that he was never totally lost to the club.
  8. After watching the Pies/Bombers game, the one thing the umps in our game got right was the Stand Rule. Soon as a player with the ball moved off their line, it was called play on. The Grundy 50 in the last qtr was a disgrace.
  9. I don't think that Weid cemented his place in the team based on that performance. Yes he kicked 3, but a couple were gifts. At Casey, T Mac played the role that we need. He impacted contests, applied pressure and hit the scoreboard. Weid ticked one box. Weid plays next week, but his position in the team isn't assured.
  10. Excellent summation DeeSpencer. People are overrating the games of Baker and Rosman by looking at their stats. There was plenty of stat padding by these 2 from kick-outs which I found annoying. At AFL level, May roosts it long to contest, yet at times Baker was calling for the short 15m kick to the back pocket. Baker will be a good VFL player, whilst Rosman is still a work in progress. The experienced players impacted the game, whilst the youngsters had their brief moments. I wish it was the other way around. Would love to see Laurie play a consistent 4 quarter game. Shepherd and Steele look very promising.
  11. That's what I've noticed, and isn't the game better for it.
  12. Sorry WERRIDEE, you've now lost your abode and your holiday house. I'll enjoy going down to Sorrento and catching up with Goody and Max down the pub.
  13. The only reason to have Brown, Weid, T Mac is if Gawn or Jackson are doubtful, and Weid plays 2nd ruck. If that's not the case, and all 3 play, we are playing with fire, and I predict a loss.
  14. I'll bet WERRIDEE's house that T Mac doesn't play back or Gus plays inside mid. Smith is an obvious replacement for Lever, and Dunstan/Bedford for Viney. ANB could play more inside minutes, and Bedford could be given a small forward role. I just don't understand why we are playing funny buggers by naming Weid, T Mac and Brown in the starting 18.
  15. Sorry, but there is no logic in giving the inferior player games due to youth when we're in a premiership window. Ben Brown plays, and based on last week, so does T Mac.
  16. I just listened to it, and there was nothing to suggest that there is any lure to return to WA. Gus said that he's getting a kick (playing well), and reading between the lines, I took that to mean that he's entitled to a decent contract. But he said that Dogga will get his, which I took as Jackson's the no.1 priority for the club, and Gus' contract is secondary. Gus then reiterated how much he loved the guys he's playing with. I don't think you can draw any conclusions from the podcast.
  17. I disagree with your take on Bedford and Chandler. At this stage of their career, they should be primary midfielders at Casey. They play well enough to occasionally get amongst the best, but I've yet to see them dominate at VFL level. I don't see either of them as walk up starts in any AFL side. If ANB. Kozzie or Spargo got injured, Jordon or Sparrow would take over the role.
  18. If Trac is out, Jordon becomes part of the midfield rotation, and Brayshaw moves back to the wing. Smith or Petty come in.
  19. Pretty obvious from Goody's presser that Petty is considered best 22. If they want to give Petty another game in the VFL, I doubt that Tomlinson would get dropped for Smith, and then dropping Smith for Petty the following week. Whilst Salem and Hibberd are out, Gus will remain in the backline, which isn't a problem with the way JJ is playing on the wing.
  20. Knightmare's demise from Bigfooty is of his own doing. He was initially warned for posting links to his ESPN Youtube channel, which the Mods eventually let slide. Then he had a link to a crypto investment advice business in his profile signature. That was the final straw for the Mods, and rightly so. They suspended his signature, but not his account. Knightmare cracked the sads, and won't be a major contributor. I thought his draft rankings were a good read, but over the last 2 years he's never seen a live match, and yet is the self proclaimed Draft Expert. I think he drinks his own bathwater.
  21. The stand-in coaches are 3 for 3. All the tactics are worked out during the week, and gone are the days of the hot gospellers who motivated players on gameday.
  22. 100% agree that the incidents were the same, and English should have been suspended. If the AFL is trying to mitigate against players suffering post career head trauma, then as you say, it's nonsense that English gets off because Blakey didn't appear to suffer any immediate effects.
  23. Ryder had the option of smothering the kick. His suspension was the most uncontroversial of the year. If you choose to bump and the opposition player suffers a head knock, you are gone. Everyone knows that.
  24. Rosman's kicking technique is fine, similar to Anthony Ingerson. His biggest problem is his decision making by hand and foot when not under pressure. Has the tools, but needs more time at VFL level.
