  1. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Perth people took up the "Adopt The Dees" so they could access GF tickets. I reckon I saw more Dees scarves on GF night than any of our home games this year. It will be interesting to see how many Dees supporters we see at Optus this week. The way the Eagles are going, some may jump ship permanently.
  2. That's why Gus has moved to the backline. His contract renewal has gone up an extra 100k pa. 😁
  3. Daw was brought to the club as insurance if Max went down. From what I've seen, Daw has dominated at Casey, so if fit, deserves his chance. He'd be up against WAFL standard ruckmen, and I believe he'd dominate. Daw could be spend 60% game time as no.1 ruck, and no time resting up forward. Jackson would spend 40% as a ruckman, and 30% time as 2nd ruck/forward. I hate flirting with form, and I don't think that the Brown, T. Mac, Weid forward line works, even with Weid playing backup ruckman.

It makes sense to tag Langdon between the 50m arcs because that's where he's most damaging. But Robbo needs to realise that Oliver and Petracca are generally manned up at stoppages, but their talent is in winning stoppages. Add Viney to the mix as well. If we win the stoppages, we dominate time in our forward 50, and we have time to set up our defensive structures. And we generally win stoppages with fewer numbers around the ball. Back to the drawing board Robbo.
  5. Bucks is the best analyst going round (No offense Daisy).
  6. 100% agree. I think some of sh*tcanning that Neeld gets on here is unwarranted. Grant Thomas reported at the time that Neeld had lost the players before rd 1 of his first year. Most of us thought that Grant Thomas was being a headline seeker. In hindsight, Thomas must have had a source within the playing group. If that was the case, yes Neeld must have had man management issues, but it's also an indictment on the playing group at the time.
  7. I actually think North have got a core of good young talent, and they'll be fine in a couple of years. Thomas, LDU, JHF, Simpkin, Powell, Stephenson, Larkey, Zurhaar, Xerri, Phillips are all under 25. The problem for North is they are rudderless, and that falls on Noble. Obviously they miss their only true on-field leader in Cunnington. But somehow Noble has managed to lose the playing group after promising signs last year. The media will hound Noble, which is what they do to all new coaches who are struggling. Whether Noble can ride out the storm is the question. Personally, I think the club needs to come out in support of him, and stay the course.
  8. I agree, and I'm not questioning his omission. But from his own perspective, I'm sure Dunstan would have loved to play against his old side.
  9. Feel for Dunstan the most. Thought he's been good in both games, and playing against his old side. No surprise that Tmac was preferred to Weid. Despite what some may think, we are not picking the team based on age. Weid isn't getting gifted a game because he's younger than TMac.
  10. Bob Skilton - 88 Games 28 wins 60 losses Winning Percentage 31.82% Best finish 6th in a 12 team comp Paul Roos - 66 Games 21 wins 45 losses Winning Percentage 31.82% Best finish 11th in an 18 team comp One is seen as the messiah by most, the other is seen as a pariah. Paul Roos last 2 games as coach: Loss to a Carlton team that had lost their previous 9 games Loss to Geelong by 111 points. Off field things had turned around under Peter Jackson, buy on field we were still at a tipping point when Roos departed. By 2019 and 2020, we had a coach whose job was on the line. Credit goes to the board and in particular Gary Pert for sticking fat with Goody. But a majority of credit goes to Goody and the coaching dept.
  11. We'll agree to disagree.
  12. Had his best game last week. Doubt he makes the starting 22, but he's been selected ahead of Chandler and Melksham, so the match committee must see something in him.
  13. My thoughts exactly on Roos. Easiest coaching gig in the world is one where you have no onfield expectations, and you have a finite departure date. I judge him by his win/loss record. I have the same order: 1. Swooper Northey 2. Goody 3. Danners 4. Balmey 5. Bobby Skilton. 1976 was as close as we got to playing finals till Swooper took over.
  14. My bad. Just seems like he's been in the system a while.
  15. English is a free agent, so there's no reason why they won't target both he and Jackson. Both can play ruck/forward.
  16. Usually enjoy and mostly agree with your Podcasts, but this was a shocker. It was Finn Maginness who played boundary side of Langdon. Morrison didn't play, and Morrissey retired 30 years ago. Your disrespect of Gunston and Breust was horrible. Both are 4 times premiership players. If you don't respect them, then you don't respect Fritsch, because Gunston in particular is a superior version of Fritsch.
  17. That was a horrible quarter of football by both teams. Must be a tricky breeze because there was some howlers. Tomlinson gifted a goal to Box Hill when he missed White with a 25m pass up the middle from a kick out. Went straight to a Hawks player who strolled in to goal. Moniz Wakefield and Laurie the most impressive of the Dees listed players.
  18. On first glance, there appears to be only 2 changes from last week: In: Hibberd, Buntine Out: T Mac, Taj
  19. Just saw some footage of the Captains Run on Instagram. It was fairly brief, but noticed all the big guns were there. Trac, Clarry, Max, Viney, Fritsch, Brown, May, Langdon, Brayshaw. Bedford and Spargo were there. The only player I didn't notice was Lever, but that doesn't mean he was absent.
  20. I'm more concerned as to whether Viney plays. He didn't train yesterday, whereas Lever did. I suppose we'll know more after the Captain's Run.
  21. They were the obvious ones, given Bedford lives with Kozi and Dogga, and Spargo is close mates with that group.
  22. Has he ever played CHF? Even last week he seemed to play close to goals. Max said that Weid has been training for the role of backup ruckman. With Tmac still having another 2 years on his contract, and JVR waiting in the wings, it's every man for himself. By that I mean the inform player will get the gig. Weid will not get preferential treatment.
  23. Junior is well and truly back in the fold. He presented Jordon with his debut jumper, and was a part of the MCG Premiership celebration. As others have said, it was a 2 way street. If his management screwed us over post Brownlow, then the club had to make decisions based on what they thought was his true worth was post the 2002 season. Players like Breen, Bruce and Whelan were coming off rookie contracts and had to be paid. We'd been through salary cap breaches 5 years earlier. Trading Woey didn't destroy the fabric of the club like tapping Junior Mac on the shoulder. We continued to play finals. The fact that Woey continued to attend Pat Players functions meant that he was never totally lost to the club.
  24. After watching the Pies/Bombers game, the one thing the umps in our game got right was the Stand Rule. Soon as a player with the ball moved off their line, it was called play on. The Grundy 50 in the last qtr was a disgrace.
  25. I don't think that Weid cemented his place in the team based on that performance. Yes he kicked 3, but a couple were gifts. At Casey, T Mac played the role that we need. He impacted contests, applied pressure and hit the scoreboard. Weid ticked one box. Weid plays next week, but his position in the team isn't assured.
