Who's this lady called Dee?
-
Lucky guess hey!!!!!!

That's a ridiculous measurement. There's been plenty of players who have played well in Grand Finals that had average careers. Shane Ellen is the first that comes to mind. And playing well in 1 game doesn't make you a proven anything. We won't be asking for any players, aside from steak knives Meek. As Goodwindees said, we'll get draft picks, and potentially pursue a free agent with our cap space. I'm predicting we get a latter top 10 pick, another 1st rd (this year or next) and steak knives Meek. There may also be shuffling of picks.

I actually think we're a better chance to beat the Dogs at Marvel than at the G. Smaller ground makes it easier to apply forward pressure. If it was at the G and we didn't include another tall forward, I'd back the Dogs. Melksham to tag Bailey Dale.

Taranto wants out because he's not getting midfield time.

Where do you rate Jackson in terms of MVP at Melbourne? If I'm generous, I'd rate him at 10th. He's young and out of contract, so Freo see him as gettable. If the money Freo are offering is true, then Jackson will be the most overpaid player in the AFL next year. In terms of his trade value, I'm drawing a comparison to players like Dangerfield, T.Kelly and Cameron. All of these players were established stars. Amongst the 3 trades, only 1 top 10 pick was received by the club losing the player. On average, 2 1st round picks in the teens plus steak knives was the deal. I'm expecting that for Jackson.

Players would never go out on the field and intentionally not try. But when a coach makes moves throughout a game that looks to the common observer like he's trying to deliberately lose, that's tanking. Teams that are not in finals contention are entitled to experiment with this list, or send players off for surgery prior to season's end. The AFL shouldn't have any issue with that.

And Jessie Hogan was a generational talent. Jackson has potential to reach the levels of Nik Nat. In his 3rd year, he's continued to develop as a ruckman. But as a ruck/forward he's stagnated. I expected him to improve on his marking and goal scoring, but he's averaging the same as last year. If he was a competent forward, we wouldn't be so concerned with the loss of T Mac. I'd call Nick Daicos a generational talent. I'd call Jackson a unique ruckman, who's elite at ground level for his size, but a work in progress in the air. He's still young, so that may improve, but he's not the complete package. This Melbourne team isn't going to drop of the cliff without Jackson.

We've still kept our best players together long term. Richmond constantly lost players through their premiership years. Rance would have been on big coin. Then they lost role players like Ellis, Higgins, Butler and developing players like Chol and CCJ. McKay and Curnow come out of contract next year, so the Blues will be under the pump. How Geelong stays under the cap is a head scratcher.

You need to ask the question to the players manager before you ask Freo. If the player doesn't want to go, and Freo don't want to lose them, end of story.
-
Of course contracted players have been traded in the past. But Collingwood are better off by getting rid of Grundy and his contract. Freo are worse by off loading any of Brayshaw, Serong or Young. That's why your Grundy analogy is irrelevant.
-
Totally different scenario. Grundy's contract is an albatross around the Pies neck, and they have a cheaper almost better version in Darcy Cameron. The Freo boys are playing good footy and not on ridiculous money.

Give us an example where an existing top 5 player at a club was traded to acquire a player from another club? And don't include Josh Kennedy or Crisp, as they hadn't established themselves.
-
I understand how the system works. But for every player that walks away from their club for a big pay cheque, there's hundreds that stay loyal, especially when the club is challenging for a flag. From a playing standpoint, I'd feel more aggrieved if Gus leaves, but at the same time I'd wish him all the best, because of the service he has given us. And I didn't realise that the Crows supporters were wishing Lever all the best when they boo him every game.

JVR is more like Larkey. Zurhaar is more like Fritsch. Last week we had a forward line that consisted of Spargo, ANB, Melksham and Bedford. T Mac was the only forward missing. This year Zurhaar will kick more than those 4 combined. I appreciate the roles that ANB and Spargo play, but you have to weigh it up against scoreboard pressure, which they don't apply. Everyone tags Melksham as a defensive liability, but even he stood up last week. It wouldn't be difficult to get Zurhaar to buy into the importance of defensive effort.

People better get used to the idea that we won't be getting any of the Freo young guns like Brayshaw, Young or Serong. For starters, they have to want to leave. And we won't be asking for 2nd tier players like Acres. As for Jacko the player/person, I don't have any emotional investment in him. I think his deeds to date doesn't match the hype or supposed contract. But where I am disappointed in Jackson is that the club allowed him to do part of his preseason in Perth. Regardless of money, you'd think he'd show some gratitude and repay the club with another 2 years. Money rules I guess.

Getting warmer.😁 But my lips are sealed.

Would Jackson have the aerobic capacity post his recent injury? Blicavs is an aerobic beast. We have to back our mids to beat their mids.
-
Nope. Earlier.
-
Yep, the pic I got from my real estate mate in Perth, which has the buyer as Luke Stephen Jackson, is of a house in Shelley. But the purchase date isn't all that recent. But then again, maybe Hardie got his info from our Whatsapp group. Another mate in the group works for 6PR with Hardie.

Just booked my ticket to see their first gig in 19 years. Can't wait.

Tyson Stengle has been a raging success despite far more serious transgressions. People can change under the right guidance, though I'm not sure that De Goey wants to change.

We have 3 KPFs playing at Casey and Tomlinson hasn't played up forward since arriving at the club. If the coaches had any inkling that Tomlinson could play the T Mac role, surely they'd have tried it at Casey. At least Petty did play that role in 2019. If BBB is doubtful, I've got no idea what we'll do. The obvious move is to play JVR, but I've given up predicting.

The Concussion Crisis in Australian Rules Football
mo64 replied to Mazer Rackham's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watched one of saddest football stories on the recent "On the Couch". Patrick Bines who played as a West Coast rookie in 2019 suffered a neck injury whilst playing for the Eagles. Didn't seem too bad at the time, just like a stiff neck when you sleep badly. Was delisted at years end, but subsequently the pain from the injury became so horrific, and despite trying everything, he resorted to calling a euthanasia clinic. He received no financial assistance from the AFLPA, because unless you are restricted to a wheelchair or had a limb amputated, you weren't covered. His story was covered by Jon Ralph, and an Insurance Claims expert saw the story and was so moved that she assisted him in receiving a payout from the insurer AMP. Peter Jess also assisted him. He still hasn't received any calls from the AFL or AFLPA since Jon Ralph broke the story. -
I didn't get the email, but went into the club's website, and clicked on the New Balance 20% off offer. I just placed an order and the 40% discount included. There were only certain products that had "Melbourne FC 20% off" under the item. When I ordered them, a 40% discount was calculated. I didn't have to include a discount code or membership number.
