  1. Melksham has been selected on merit, and isn't getting gifted a chance to play his 200th. The last 2 games he's played against WC rd 22 last year and the Hawks this year, he's played well. And he replaces a half forward in Harmes. Bedford was only selected for our starting 22 when Kossie was out. Those arguing that Bedford should be selected because he's younger are barking up the wrong tree. It's like those who continue to argue that we should be resting players against weaker opposition. Goody once again stated in his presser that we are still trying to perfect our synergies. When Viney was out, Dunstan came in. Selection has always been like for like, especially when we've had a ready made replacement in form.
  2. Interstater?
  3. Agree. Players that are in the 15-23 bracket who are out of contract, may be happy with the security of signing for additional years but less money in order to keep the list together.
  4. TBC is the new 4-6.
  5. Not the entire media, just Kelli Underwood. Didn't you know that JVR's VFL game against North was an audition for the WCE.
  6. Jeez I hope Jack doesn't finish the year like Chris Paul, who was garbage in the last 5 games of the Dallas series.
  7. Yze mentioned in a pre-season podcast that Jack is an elite kick, but due to all his foot problems in the past, had never been able to practice his kicking. This was the first full pre-season that Jack has completed. Many on here had accused Jack of being someone who butchers the ball. This year both his decision making and execution have been elite. This was demonstrated with his pass to Fritsch in the last qtr against the Eagles. Pavlich mentioned how smart it was that Jack took a bounce because there were no clear options upfield. He then drilled a perfect kick to Fritsch. Jack is having a great season, and goes under the radar. I'm glad that Jordan Lewis gave him BOG, because I thought that his disposal and tackling was superior to that of Clarry and Trac. He deserves the recognition.
  8. When you tackle a player from behind, you have 2 options. First option is to go to your knees so the tackled player is held upright with his armed pinned. Second option is to turn the player in the tackle without letting go, so it's not deemed a sling. Unfortunately for Chandler, he chose neither, so his actions were reckless/dangerous. He'll cop a week with an early plea.
  9. Agree. I thought Petracca and Oliver were going at 50% and were poor defensively. 6. Viney 5. Jordon 4. Brayshaw 3. Kossie 2. McDonald 1. Rivers
  10. I don't know about others, but when I'm watching Casey games, I'm looking at how a players' performance translates at AFL level. All the observations about Weid were fair. He's still not strong at the contest. His second efforts are poor. Why do you think that Tmac has been preferred? Anyone who watched the game would have come away thinking that JVR is more worthy of promotion than Weid.
  11. The commentator made a really good observation of JVR. He engages in the contest early and has the strength to hold his ground. He's also capable at ground level. He's going to be a star, and IMO he'd have a greater impact at AFL level this year than Weid. Should BBB get injured, or Tmac loses form, JVR should be next in line.
  12. Only 5 North listed players playing compared to 13 Dees listed. Casey should romp it in. Some observations based on how their game translates to AFL level: Dunstan - A class above. JVR - Super impressive in the air. Always in the right position when flying for marks. Set up 2 goals at ground level also. Was beaten twice by Marty Hore at ground level in a one-on-one contest. Daw - If Max gets injured, Majak is ready to to go. He's getting around the ground fine. Weid - Is playing well, but has been out-positioned in marking contests on occasions. He doesn't have the presence of T Mac, or JVR for that matter. Bedford - Nice to see him starting in the midfield. Getting excellent service from Daw and Bell. Has been good, but not a standout. Tomlinson - Of the senior players, he's been the most disappointing. Playing loose man in the backline, he's racking up huge possessions, but defensively he's been poor. I've seen him caught out of position 4 times, two of which resulted in North goals. Then got caught holding the ball resulting in another goal. Baker - VFL level only. Of the kids, Turner has impressed. Woey and McVee look ok. Laurie, Rosman and Smith have been quiet. Shoutout to the commentators. Best VFL callers this year.
  13. Jake Bell would be a perfect player to have on our list as a developing ruckman. His skills are really good.
  14. Tomlinson, lol
  15. Majak Daw dominating the ruck against Monkhurst.
  16. Correct. Every week we see numerous examples of players questioning a decision, and the umpire seems fine with explaining it. Just goes to prove what a nob Brad Scott is for bringing in the strict interpretation of dissent, and how idiotic he came across when he tried to justify it.
  17. Their spine of Barrass, McGovern, Kelly, Darling, Kennedy is impressive on paper. They're not missing many from their best 22. NicNat, Yeo, Shuey, Rioli, Allen and Cripps are the only ones that come to mind. As Goody says, you need to respect the opposition. It wasn't long ago that opposition supporters would have been mocking our line-up.
  18. Viney, and it's not close.
  19. Maybe it's more than a coincidence that the compensation pick that we got for Frawley was used to acquire Brayshaw. Spooky hey? BTW, I totally disagree with your logic. We're in premiership mode, not list rebuilding mode, as we were when Frawley departed.
  20. There is a mid-season bye for players to have a rest. The club isn't about managing players. They are either fit to play or not.
  21. I just had a look at Time On Ground percentages of our small/medium sized defenders, and Rivers is significantly the lowest: Hunt 86% Bowey 78% Rivers 72%
  22. I have seen Daw. Have you seen the West Coast ruckmen? I'd back Daw in this week.
  23. That's not true. It was May who said that they should ice the rest of the qtr. It came out in the recent docos.
  24. I have a historical hatred of Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton and Richmond, but I currently hate the Bulldogs and Cats the most for the reasons above. I can't condone Oliver's blatant flop, and he deserves to be called out for it. It's a blight on the game, and sports like basketball and soccer penalise the floppers with either tech fouls or yellow cards.
  25. Based on form, Gus remains down back and Salem replaces Rivers. Hunt has done some great jobs on small forwards, and deserves to retain his spot. JJ has also been excellent on the wing.
