Geez Matty Whelan would have been suspended for 20 weeks for his smother on Nathan Brown these days.
-
Credit goes to Ron the Bear on BigFooty. To summarise: 6 matches without a win against Collingwood. 7 consecutive losses to Geelong and Hawthorn. 9 consecutive losses to North Melbourne. 11 consecutive losses at Etihad. 11 consecutive losses in WA. 15 consecutive losses at AAMI.

He applied great defensive pressure yesterday, particularly in the third quarter. I am not a fan of Bate's at all, but he deserves another week.
-
Dear Tonya Harding, Brent Harvey. Thanks again, Geddy Lee.
-
Having Bate, Dunn, Petterd, Jurrah and Watts in the same side is a huge advantage for us, if they play well it's incredibly potent (or should I say if the midfield plays well). Five mobile 190cm+ guys all capable of kicking bags.

Here some reasons: Round 9 - 12 ST KILDA CARLTON ESSENDON COLLINGWOOD

Well the media sure do! Let's see how we go next week with 1. more experienced players in the side, 2. a functioning forward press and 3. our captain in the midfield. Looking forward to it.

I knew you were going to say this, completely missing the point that Frawley was injured all pre-season, and Sylvia and Moloney have been our best this year. How will Malthouse get Davey and Green to rock up every week?
-
Not exactly like for like. Why should Martin come in? Jamar put in far more draining performances last year and came up fine the next week. Dunn rucked most of the last quarter, and Jamar can handle himself. In: MacDonald Out: Grimes (inj)
-
And how would Malthouse eradicate the inconsistency of the younger MFC players Thomo? Particularly in regards to their application and intensity.
-
I think if anyone is going to be underrepresented it will be Clint Bartram.
-
Strongly agree with forest85 today! Trengove was tremendous, seven tackles and plenty more body work too.
-
We sure did P_Man! We also got exposed twice applying said forward press in the first quarter. Dean then re-adjusted his troops and we were only exposed once more for the rest of the game - and Adelaide failed to kick a goal. Two thumbs up Dean.
-
This opinion is uniquely MFC and we have to stop thinking along these lines. Make him uncomfortable for once, and see how he responds.
-
Davey hasn't been, and is still in. The last 'hard call' we made was dropping Yze (different coach) and even that was at least 12 months late. It's not part of our club sadly.
-
I like how Bruce and Tony Shaw say "Gee" a lot, like they are giving themselves time to think before they interject with some incredibly inane observation. It's just disgraceful commentary, and I still can't fathom why the umpires are mic'd up.
-
They look pink on TV and that's the issue. I don't give a [censored] what they look like in person. We can either get our jumpers done properly, or change the words to our club song to suit our new colours. To borrow a line from Red Dwarf, sometimes the MFC really comes across as a Mickey Mouse organisation.

Very happy with the outs. Would love to see Warnock, Bate and Petterd in too. Toss a coin between Jetta and maric.
-
I value the contributions of Whispering Jack, and would like to see more of Finks, Fan and Pantaloons.

I don't know about referring to Bailey supporters as 'Bailey apologists' just yet. The club has been telling us what to think since he was installed with a clear mission to turn over the list , and recruit and develop a young list that could win a premiership several years down the track. Even Schwab's whiteboard Wednesday presentations recently reiterate this point 100%. Everyone could see the sense in this after the failed 87-94 and 98-06 'tilts' (the former being the bigger missed opportunity than the latter) and the seasoned supporters got behind Bailey with their patience hats firmly on. Within the last two weeks, this mission of Bailey's has gone from extremely well-presented and managed, towards fans and the media (we've copped barely anything compared to what a club like the Kangas or Port would if they had our recent W-L record), to what it is now: cracks appearing all over the place (I won't use a stronger word like disintegrate). It's almost as if Connolly doesn't agree with Bailey's methods anymore and is imploring Stynes and Lyon to re-jig where we are heading in the next 12 months. I don't see our stagnation as disastrous as the knee-jerkers here do but I believe Bailey is on thin ice indeed.

"He's a true utility and he has all the attributes to thrive in today's precise, uncontested game."
-
Let's win a centre clearance and lay a tackle or two. Then we'll worry about how terrible our game plan is.
-
Tapscott and Sylvia. All time: David Neitz and Allen Jakovich. (Best player my grandad has seen in 80 years of supporting the MFC: Hassa Mann).
-
When did anyone suggest that? We're 17th in tackles, so I believe putting our best tackler back into the team will help some. He will make Nathan zero-tackles Jones and his lazy team mates try a bit harder too.
