Embarrassing !!! 1 step forward 2 steps back -
I do not understand how anyone can say that a game played in clear skies, 30 degrees and a 10 knot wind to cool them down is anything but great conditions to play AFL.

TDI , this is when your posts annoy me. This is a perfect opportunity for someone as so learned as yourself to give an opinion on players performance both good and bad. However you nit pick and criticise those who have been proven correct on this occasion that some players(yet again) have fallen short of the required AFL standard - Gawn,Griems & Garland. A tasty steak has both succulent meat and gristle.

Went to the game yesterday and will hold my analysis until I watch the replay on the television. However real question marks on Grimes, Bail and Garland for starting 22?

Why play a bloke forward who was recruited as a defender and done 80% of the pre season as a defender? Hogan, Gawn & Dawes is tall enough thanks -

I agree he was great in the last period against the Bombers but hopeless and embarrassing against the Lions -

TDI, I have said this many times - your training reports are great and I really appreciate all that you do for the Demonlanders. However I stand by my strike rate of identifying sub standard Melbourne footballers , where others are delusional and think that a pre season will change 5 years of mediocrity and skill level. We have a difference of opinion on this player and Im sure we would have argued over players like Tapscott , Gyberts, Fitzy & Morton ( BTW he did a full pre season at WC and look how that ended up) Its one thing to be one eyed & loyal but sometimes the hard light of day is a more realistic option. My opinion is that he is a very limited footballer and I would prefer the club gets 4 - 5 games into one of the younger blokes rather than going down the McKenzie path. Happy to be proven wrong but am confident I wont be -

I love Rileys tackling and attack on the contest but he neither super quick , tall , or penetrating and accurate by foot. That being said I would have him every single week ahead of McKenzie. -

Riley, Terlich and Fitzpatrick are in for long seasons IMO. With Watts , Howe & Vince in the starting 22 they are way down the pecking order it seems. And rightfully so -

Heading to the sail and anchor for a lunch and a couple of cold ones before the game. Not too stressed over the result just keen to see the new recruits in action and the development of the younger brigade. -
Bail will be in the 26 IMO
-
29 in the squad

Crossroads ??? The reports out of WA is that he is going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat merely to be let back to train , never mind find his way into the 22. Delisted by years end with a 1 year payout is my guess.

Spencil & McKenzie are nothing more than below average and substandard AFL players. I rate TDI's loyalty but as far as I'm concerned this will not change in 12 month's no matter how much better our player development is.

Am really interested to know how Vandenberg is travelling TDI. You say he trained with the forwards , how is his marking ability and his kinging skills deep into the forward line. -
I would be adding Max King to the list of blokes who are on notice.
