  1. I reckon these may be the changes assuming Hibbo comes up. Spargo is not quick as other DL'ers have pointed out, nor are his tackles sticking. JKH needs at least one more game.
  2. I agree with the fence. I like Spargo and hope he stays, but he is not quick, and his endurance is 'limited'.
  3. Given Geelong's average differential is less than 16 points, I can't see them winning their last two games by 80 and 110 points respectively, The Cats have won 6 or their 7 matches at K Park by an average .of 30 points.
  4. Sunday 12 August Summary Min 5 Max 14 Possible shower. Possible rainfall: 0 to 1 mm Chance of any rain: 40% Melbourne area Cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. Winds west to northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h.
  5. The Front Bar quite often air clips, unlike TFS, I guess because Ch7 owns them. We may even see the 'scissor kick' (or whatever you choose to call it).
  6. Dawson Simpson the most serious supposedly. Maybe out for season.
  7. I think Hird said that if the Dons make the 8 they'll win the flag. He's merely trying to curry favour with the Dons; dingbats. Essendon need to win all four remaining games given they have a poor percentage. I reckon they'll lose at least two. Hird is on safe ground. He knows his Dons are no chance to play finals.
  8. Agree with all of this. I really think we need to get games into Smith and enable him to build his confidence. He's 5cm taller than Hibberd and has a reasonable leap (unlike Hibbo). If it came to the crunch we may be able to go with Frost, Smith and Hibbo ie drop OMac who struggles when the ball is below his waist.
  9. There's a couple worse than Nibbler.
  10. If you can get past the firewall: https://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/sport/afl/geelong-cats-2018-geelong-to-ask-afl-for-home-game-should-it-earn-the-rights-to-host-a-final/news-story/f57c015d20ddc2c70954deb6f48420ff Great. We could have round 2 of the brawl. "GEELONG will request a home final at GMHBA Stadium should it finish in fifth or sixth position on the ladder at the end of the home-and-away season..... ......And I think we would (against Melbourne or North Melbourne) as well.”
  11. There are thousands of supporters who, like me, prefer to stand. I've been a platinum member for more than 20 years, as have many of my mates. As such we have access to a seat on level one. Every week we stand. At Etihad we stand on the concourse. I can't watch the footy from a seat. When the Cats get the funding they will complete their stadium with a stand where the present GA exists. There will be no general admittance area (with free seat). You will need to pay (in today's money) $60 to watch the footy. It's highly likely that fewer than 2000 tickets will be available to opposition supporters.
  12. My interpretation (and I was in the outer Sat night and I had posted last week such the possibility of violence): 1. it's not the beer sold at the ground that is the problem as it's mid-strength. Very few punters drink the spirits from what I see. You're pushing to get drunk on mid. 2. Sat night games at K park are the problem. The demographic in the GA section is predominantly 20-35 yo males many who have spent the arvo watching their local footy team drinking copious amounts of grog, or have spent many hours at either of the two nearby pubs. 3. Police cost the GFC money. They employ very few. I did not see one cop at the ground. Beer queues are not supervised as they are at the MCG and Etihad. 4. There were no security mingling with the supporters in the GA section as happens at the MCG (Bay 13) or on the concourse (Etihad) 5. Cats supporters see their venue as a fortress. They very rarely see their team lose there. The bulk of the Cats supporters in the GA area only attend K Park games. The prospect of seeing their team lose on Saturday night had many itching for a fight (someone to vent their frustration on). 6. The GA area at K Park is relatively small. All juiced-up predominantly Cats supporters stand together. Strength in numbers. BTW the Geelong FC, if they had their way would scrap the standing room area and replace it with reserved seating. They have a huge waiting list for membership packages that includes a reserved seat,
  13. It's Déjà vu all over again.
  14. As I posted, my mate copped a 'Glasgow kiss' some years ago which plastered his nose all across his face. It was a horrible sight. Ross had said nothing. All he did 'wrong' was wear a MFC scarf. I was treading on eggshells the entire game last night. Cats supporters believe they own the whole ground and can't accept the presence of opposition supporters. I stand in M9 (old Bay 13) every MCG game. It's well patrolled (police walk through our section regularly). The Cats make more than $half a mil. each home game. They spend stuff all on security and employ part timers with no experience.
  15. I ended up going to the game after saying all week I wouldn't be. I was standing in this area but left immediately after Tuohy's kick as I knew there was the potential for something like this to happen. A few DLer's said I was overstating the potential for violence. It is real as there is virtually no security in the standing room area. What little there is (sometimes small females) are casual staff, not the more burley blokes or police that you see at the 'G.
  16. I'm not sure about that. Henderson is playing his first senior game for the year after playing four reasonable games in the VFL. We know that's a huge step up. Jack Henry is showing signs of fatigue. Harry Taylor showing signs of age. There was even debate early in the week of Henry holding his spot. Kolodjashnij .... meh. The blokes I worry most about are Dangermouse, Hawkins, Menzel, and Narkle (3 games). They could easily boot 12 goals between them. We need to win the midfield and cut their supply to these guys in particular. Our defence is our Achilles heel.
  17. I hope this prediction is better than your Casey 'predicted' line ups!
  18. The waves down here on the Surfcoast were pumping on Thursday and yesterday. That's where Dangers would have been.
  19. Show me a Richmond player that isn't. I remember walking away from our round 13 game last year when we beat the reigning premier by nearly 10 goals. Our players were 'manic' in their endeavour. I couldn't comprehend why they weren't able to bring the same desire week in, week out. Dimma has got his team doing just that.
  20. There ya go Rusty, always thinking about yourself.
  21. My mate had his nose broken some years back just for calling out 'Go Dees'. And it wasn't by 'kindly old ducks knitting scarfs'. I have been to games in every state. Cats supporters can't come to terms with other supporters attending the Cattery. There's not an issue if you have a seat as those areas are well supervised (where the knitters sit). You'd be advised to keep your mouth shut standing at the northern end. Dees supporters are outnumbered 50 to one. I have a dozen mates, all Dees members, that live in Torquay. Not one will be attending.
  22. I was there (and stuck fat til the end). I don't like to be reminded of it. Despite my post of a week ago, I am going to venture the 20km up the road, buoyed by our performance of the last two weeks. They really are a feral bunch of supporters, especially coming from 6 hours of drinking in the Barwon Club.
  23. Hanson over Tyson for me. I just think it would be harder for the Cats to find a match.
  24. I just finished a swim trip with Ed Langdon's mum. Ed is contracted until the end of 2019.
