Simple solution - one pick for multiple picks. Good heavens, I hope we don't resort to the VFL. We currently have three picks which we may be able to trade for, say, a total of nine picks. Kahlani may cost us three of those. I'd have no problem trading McVee, Spargo. May, Lever or Petty. We were awful last year, and had four fewer wins this year. We're rubbish. The only team above us that, IMO, we can get above next year is the Blues. Who on our list is going to make us better next year? About three will be better than this year. That's not going to make a difference to our ladder position.

Not sure what you mean. Foolish was recruiting Billings, Campbell, Fullerton, Henderson, Sharp, and Hore. I'm not sure that Woewodin and Brown would have been picked up had they not been F-S selections. Neither have a 'point of difference' (not fast, not tall, not overly skilful, not goal kickers). Sestan and Verrall have had two seasons at Casey and are, from the reports I read, 'just going'. There's at least four contracted for next year highly unlikely to get a game on a regular basis.

Eleven out of contract. I'd be saying farewell to all. Of those eleven plus McAdam, Laurie, AJ and MJ, only McVee is a certain starter. I know it won't pan out that way but it's time to be brutal.

Turner early in the season but tapered off imo. Langford not on our list last year.

I agree with Joeboy's assessment, specifically that Bowey was the only player on our list last year who progressed. That's a sad indictment of our coaching staff.

TMac won't be dropped. Petty won't play back - he hasn't for the past 2 years and was one of our best last week - playing forward. Neither Adams or Kentfield would make a suitable sub - neither are versatile enough. Billings is out the door at season's end. Why play him?

I have. He was guest speaker at my local club's 'Before the Game' show a few years ago. He still has a soft spot for the Dees. I don't think you can lose your love for the team you grew up supporting.

No. Casey serves purely as the 'feeder' team for our AFL club. It's simply a matter of what's best for the MFC. What's best for Casey runs a distant second.

I reckon there'd be more chance of both Trac and Clarry getting back to their best, or near best, under Bucks than under an untried senior coach like Enright or King.

I agree we needed an experienced ruckman. But surely there was a state league player 6-8 years younger. TC is an average VFL ruckman. He could only cover for Max for one or two games.

For the life of me I've NFI why Campbell is on our list. He's older than Max, played 58 games at 4 clubs over 12 seasons, and has zero chance in being part of our next flag. AJ before TC every day.

I guess it's been mentioned, but geez I'd love to see him at the Bluey. I've no doubt Simon would receive a standing ovation.

@layzie said it's like no other coach sacking. I disagree. As a 13 year old I'd seen us raise the cup in 1964. After 12 rounds in 1965 we were 9-3. We sacked Norm Smith. It took us 57 years to win another flag. Perish the thought we'll have a repeat of 'The curse of Norm Smith'. Having said all that, another flag would never have come with Simon at the helm. Last point, I'll love Simon and my Dees until I die for bringing me such joy that September night.

The problem is that we need a complete clean out of the coaches. The current group have failed at developing our players, save for about three. Sacking Goodwin whilst keeping those under him, will achieve nothing IMO.

He may even have a ghostwriter.

As I mentioned in another post, I'm at Pesaro on the Adriatic coast of Italy, and I'll be tuned into the game whilst on my way to Venice. I've got nothing to contribute to this thread . I just wanted to brag 😄🇮🇪

Well, I don't know how many Dees are up the snow but I'm at Pesaro on the east coast of Italy (temp about 35 today) and there's not a Carlton jumper to be seen anywhere. I'm off to Venice today. May see one there. I doubt it
