ESSENDON VFL v CASEY SCORPIONS
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
7 minutes in. 2.2 to 0 caseys way. Goals to ANB and Garlo but kicking with the wind. -
He directly had 3 goal assists. Aside from a poor shot at goal and getting caught a couple of times he was fine.
-
After watching that, anyone focussing their attention on the criticism of a 16 possie, 5 tackle, 3 assist debut need their head read. We played too high, they were too quick and spread a lot harder for longer than we did. We didn't stick tackles. We carried 5-7 players and are not good enough to cover that. Not helped by us playing one tall too many forward for Etihad.

No need for wholesale changes after one poor game. Out: Harmes, Hunt In: best performed of Oliver, ANB, Jones, Trengove

If North and Dogs are 2 best teams in it ...
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in Melbourne Demons
Neither side handled the 1 v 2 occasion well. North just had some players who handled it better. In saying that neither are in the best two sides in the comp and moreso when you remind them the grand final is not played in doors. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 6
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would hope he is not impressed as well. Roos mentioned on Roos Views that he needs a good block of games at Casey to gain fitness and form says this is not a one week stint is probably also not helping. -
Demons on track to re-sign Jeff Garlett
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Wilson7's topic in Melbourne Demons
Keep winning games and the cards will fall. -
Off the back of 2 wins and the smell of a possible third and a CP5 debut I reckon if you don't attend Etihad this weekend you never will.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 5
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Too hard at the man. Too hard on the spread. We attacked with vigour from half back and we now have players capable of doing it who will only get better. They came at us multiple times sometimes due to our turnovers but we composed and bounced back each time. Dom Tyson best game in a long time. Kent now starting to show what he can do over a game rather than cameos. The beauty is we won well and controlled the game and have much more improvement that will come with development and confidence even within is year. -

When does Petracca get unleashed?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to The Sailing Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope we smack the Tigers tonight to the point that we have to be unchanged next week. I will get excited about his debut when a spot opens up and his form and fitness warrant and he is named. Then I will go bezerk. Until then unlike any other year I am focussing on the side on the park not those in the wings. -
After watching the replay I actually can't see how we can drop Frost. Assuming M Jones and Harmes are fine I think it needs to be Oliver (who needs a rest) and Gus (who still doesn't look right) for Vince and Jeffy.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 4

6. Watts 5. Viney 4. Gawn 3. Wagner 2. Hogan 1. Tyson -
I was at the Casey game. Petracca was good but djd not demand a game. He also spent all the second half forward. Oliver rested for Vince and Frost (who was actually pretty good) for Garlett.

POST GAME DISCUSSION
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
We hunted in numbers. Were aggressive at the man and with our ball movement. We gave first option. Yes we made mistakes but that's part of playing this style of footy particularly with a young team as we tire late in quarters. Probably the most important thing is that we sensed when momentum was changing and reacted accordingly. Watts was massive and Wagner showed he can seriously play. A game that we can really build our season on.- 425 replies

COLLINGWOOD VFL v CASEY SCORPIONS
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes. I'm here. Trac not as much ball that quarter 5 or so touches great third effort led to a massive tackle. ANB very good that quarter just accumulates and creates play. Weeds not helped by the forward delivery but he seriously attacks the ball in the air. Pies just seem to link better than we do and hit kicks forward of 50. -

4.3 to 3.0 pies way at quarter time. Pies with the breeze, trac has had 13 touches by my count playing through the middle and is a class above. Joel Smith has shown some impressive attributes off half back, -

Scrappy game so far. Trac in the middle and would have had 6-7 touches in the first 10 minutes. Pies kicked the only goal and had most of the play. -
Jack I watched our round 1 win vs the Suns there last year. It was a fun experience. Hope you keep the 100% record in tact.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 3
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn's game was massive but I am surprised how many have given him BOG when his direct opponent kicked 5 (regardless of how they came). Same goes for if Nth supporter gave Goldstein top marks when he was pants'ed in the taps to advantage. Surely your direct opponent (particularly when so obvious as a ruckman) having such great influence cancels out or at least reduces your votes? -
AVB has been seriously disappointing so far this season.

In: Garlett, Brayshaw Out: Vandenberg, Bugg

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 3

Jaded effort at the contest in first was pretty good but we turned it over and they killed us on the outside and were kicking with a big wind. Cant say I was happy at quarter time but the score made it look worse than the application.
