Whilst I like it in principle I dont think it will pan out that way and would be suprised even if available that we would take both Taylor and Patrick.

Barry Prendergast on 3aw tonight
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was the worst interview I have ever heard. They introduced BP as this being his first draft and then asked him what we are likely to do with picks 11 and 16. They then had a relevant point regarding taking Ball at 11 that they were not intelligent enough to explain clearly ie: if we have 11 or more players that we rate higher than Ball then it would not matter what happened we would not take him as one would have to be available at that pick. -
I seriously doubt Butcher or Talia will be there and Griffiths looks more power forward than Black. If the club seriously want a forward I think we will jump at 11 rather than risk him not being there at 18. I have only seen limited vision and granted have not seen Butcher at his best but if they were all there I would take Talia ahead of Griffiths but not the other two. I think clubs have learnt that injuries (unless debilitating) should only be a minor consideration when drafting a player.

Excellent post FD. I think we will take Griffiths at 11 so you might still get Griffiths and Ball.
-
I think you are correct this article leans me more than ever to thinking we will not take him with 11 or 18.

A 7 part poll which could have been easily been handled as a discussion? People get a bit poll happy on here. For what its worth I think he will play half back in the role previously allocated to either Grimes or Morton as they will push further up the ground. Likely back 6 assuming all are fit:Garland, Warnock, Rivers, Joel McDonald, Frawley and Green. Grimes, Morton, Bennell and Junior to rotate at times and Martin and Strauss likely to get game time their at some stage in the year.

This is the most hilarious poll of all time. :D

The other Liam… a goal kicking ruckman.
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to the fork's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just watched the highlights package on youtube. He is definitely exciting but a very rough diamond and not as clean in skill as our Liam. I would think way too big a punt at 34 but possible at 50 or definitely rookie if there. -
The kid needs to prove himself as an AFL player not be doing one one interviews with Mike or being the focus of our Xmas memembership media campaign. The focus needs to be on him developing as an AFL footballer not on marketing. He will become a better footballer by being able to focus on proving himself on the field rather than all this media hype. NB: He is not a future star any more than anyone else on our list at this point in time.

Our handling of Watts from a media and publicity perspective last year I thinkin hindsight was poor and something that I hoped we would learn from. So just when you would think they would remove the spotlight from him and just let him get stuck into becoming an AFL footballer we allow him to do an interview with Mike Sheehan in tomorrows HUN. Then to top it off the gag worthy Xmas membership ad "Watts under your tree this Christmas". Picture of it is on a Demology thread at the below link. http://demonology.midnight.net.au/ Time for the spotlight to be removed and allow the kid to prove himself as an AFL player.

The Andrew Moore Thread (2009-15)
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Keyser Söze's topic in Melbourne Demons
Talia and Moore are different types of player so I dont understand the comparison. 11's too early 18's likely too late appears a jack of all trades who would not fit any of our actual needs. A pass for mine. -
We need to consider that Hawthorn said he was put up for trade with no takers they then delisted him in contract. I would not be so sure he will go in the ND but you would think we would have a better insight into his frame of mind and his physical health than other clubs so would be well placed to assess whether he is worth the punt at 50 if available..

Tapscott
-
There would be a good chance of him being gone at 18 and if we are that hot on him (and with 2 mids in the bank) may not want to take that risk.
-
This would be relevant if the 3km time trial consisted of running with a ball for 3km whilst being chased by an opponent. If that had been the case he would not have made it passed 3 metres. I hope this is not going to be like TJ watch where there will be posts on his every half decent game for the year. He is gone. We swindled an excellent deal in the circumstances. Move on.

I have watched him play and wonder where his improvement comes from. He has good skills and appears clean but does not appear to have any great athletic traits, is already somewhat mature of body, appears to be a permanent flanker. I just dont see where he will fit in our plans and there is much more I would rather look at with 11. The only reason people state he will snapped up by Port is because is from SA.

Can someone tell me what I am missing with Tapscott. Best kick in the draft allegedly but he looks like this years Rockliff for mine. Why would we take him at 11 instead of a tall or a true mid? Where does he fit as an AFL footballer? I am missing something I think....

Why would Brisbane not be keen? Is it not obvious they are loading up for a flag tilt? Maybe they do not have the cap space but I dont understand why they would not be keen.

Ball Thorp & MacDonald - Could we land all three?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Can someone explain to me why we would want Joel McDonald, whose position in our defence he is taking and also back this up with how many Brisbane games they actually watched last year. -
Malthouse Finally Talks Some Sense !
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to hoopla's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would argue that free agency if introduced in the next 3-7 years that we may benefit. Free agency mainly allows mature players to chase success first and dollars second. You dont see many players (Judd aside) who leave a successful club for money, they leave for the chance of success that may have alluded them. If we are as planned close or mid premiership window when this is introduced then it is more likely that we will be appealing to such players. -
