  1. Patrick did not play. The actual championships were a pre-recording from April I believe.
  2. Mid at 11. KPF at 18.
  3. He never said we weren't picking him up but nor did he actually say we were. In fact even alluding that this is what we are doing leads me to question whether we have in fact locked these two in yet. This is a 10 year decision and our head of recruiting has not even watched the kids standout game, against men, under finals pressure. If anything 29 possessions in that game gives you 29 times minimum to check for any potential flaws or affirm your initial thinking. Agreed you dont need to watch a player 20 times but you would think a game like that would be one worth taking the time out for. If BP is intending on taking him I find it unbelievable that you would not confirm your thinking by watching the prelim. If we are not taking him I cant see how we would make that decision without watching that game.
  4. I would find it ludicrous if we are considering picking a player and his standout game we have not bothered watching. Even if it is just dotting the I's and crossing the T's it reaks of arrogance not actually viewing that game. If we dont pick him then it is just shear stupidity not viewing that performance.
  5. Considering that this will be our third choice and that the draft is weakened by the change in age isn't pick 11 really the equivalent of "round 2"? In saying that best available at 11 and needs based at 18 (key position forward) for mine.
  6. Not better, different. Appropriate name by the way.
  7. Thanks WJ. Have just locked it into the iQ.
  8. Cale could become one of the hardest matchups in the AFL if he gets some size about him and retains his current mobility and endurance. Someone have him call Tingay and find out what "vitamins" he took to become big and strong <_< Cale really improved his work in traffic over the second half of the year.
  9. How would you rate Lenny Hayes vs Brendan Goddard?Kirk vs Goodes? I can see Grimes being a star in the Hayes/Bartel/Kirk mould. A pure footballer with no amazing athletic traits who gets the most out of his talents. Nothing wrong with that for mine.
  10. Moloney for mine had the most notable change in his game style this year and should be highly commended for the changes he has made. He moved from a "get ball kick ball" player to really improving his inside game and taking the better option in most cases. Can see him being an important mature body to protect any new mids who debut in 2010.
  11. Not knowing where to put Green is proof of how our young list is improving in talent and structure. Green is a quality footballer and offers flexibility but no real positions screams out as his above others. Can see him used through the wings as a midfield rotation or as a Chris Knights type half forward next year.
  12. Have not put my finger on it exactly but there is something from what I saw of the Tmac at Casey and Melbourne that makes me believe he will be a footballer of high quality. Dont quite know where he fits but there is just something there. Very happy that he has been retained so I can try and work out what it is that I love so much.
  13. If Newton was going to make it at Melbourne he really needed to consolidate a place in the seniors this year before Watts and Martin mature as forwards and prior to the entrance of LJ. He may improve next year but unless injury strikes has missed the boat as far as opportunity. Needs to improve his strength over the summer both physically and mentally.
  14. Except when he is actually playing on someone I think with Matty Bate he would be the most debated player by supporters. I am on the negative in this case though. Excellent footballer but not strong enough for the power forwards, not quick enough for the lead ups and not damaging enough with his skills to play as a rebounder. It says alot about the strength of our key back options that if all were fit I would not have him in my starting 22.
  15. The most underrated player on our list. Had a great year exemplified by our need to move him forward to throw a game and then send him off for early surgery to ensure we did not win another.
  16. 2009 was a great year for Martins football development by being played in so many positions. It is still clear to me that he is a more natural backmen and with this athleticism would like to see him settled back in 2010 which hopefully if injury free releases Garland forward.
  17. 2009 showed me Rohan Bail moves well......The rest is best left unsaid.
  18. Jetta showed some good tricks and aggression for one so young but I have concerns over his ability to play small forward or back due to his lack of pace. Could become a good midfielder if he can build his endurance as he knows how to find it and is clean but otherwise am unsure where he fits in the scheme of things.
  19. How many teams will have their first or second choice ruckman of an age younger than 21? Unless injuries hit I would hope that Spencer is not given much senior game time this year and works on developing his endurance, skills and positioning at Casey. He is very young in ruck years and needs more time at a lower level to learn his craft and grow into his body.
  20. Promising first year (particularly early) but still not quite sure where he fits (you can only have so many rebounding defenders). Injuries permitting you would not expect him to be starting 22 next year. I would hope to see him spend majority of next year at Casey improving his versatility (forward/shutdown/inside mid). I think this will hold him in good stead for the years to come.
  21. Understand the sentiment but for some reason find it deflating and wish he had stuck with the 48.
  22. Everitt is in contract.
  23. Freo and Sydney will not give up first round new talent to take Burgoyne. Therefore unless Port re-draft him at 8 (would not put it past Williams) then he will go to Hawthorn at 9.
  24. All that will happen is Burgoyne will nominate for the National Draft with a price on his head. He will then be taken with Hawthorns pick 9 unless someone else decides to take him earlier and accept his contract terms. I would say that would be highly likely.
