Can I Just say a few words about what some see as negative comments. We at the Melbourne Football Club have suffered much defeat on and off the field for nearly Five decades , Despite near extinction of this proud club ,the oldest football club on the planet ,we have managed to survive this long period of failure and have seen off setbacks ,disappointments and traitors who call themselves professionals .Somehow we're still here . Maybe there is a little bit of the amateur spirit in our club -the belief that the jumper should mean something despite the modern world affixing a dollar value to everything and everyone .Maybe we are naive and old-fashioned in our belief that loyalty still has a part to play in human endeavour .Maybe we are just plain stupid-stuck in a time warp where men were men and a mans' word was his bond and his honour. The world has moved on since 1964 .Ronald Dale Barrassi and Norm Smith are no longer powerful men in this competition .They were betrayed by men who never knew the importance of loyalty forged through battle ,men who believed that real power comes from clever administration and astute ,passionless decision-making .In turn these men were forced to leave not just a football club ,but their home . When I remember the tears streaming down faces in 1987 after we lost a game on a technicality from an error made by an Irishman .When I remember that same club stomping on our hopeful dreams by a record margin .I have nothing but hatred and loathing for the Hawthorn football club .I think hatred still has a part to play in the human heart because it is a human emotion that we feel when we have been wronged. Hatred lies in the hearts of men to this day because we are human .I have no problem with rage and hatred and passion because they mean we are still alive and we still feel like a wrong must be righted . Don't tell me that the world is a different place now and that football is just a business .When I take my son to watch us win a Grand Final in the next few years he wont understand what the business side means .He will watch the tears stream down my face and see that his old man is alive and well ,and has passion for this life .Until then , I refuse to forgive my enemies .I refuse to accept the "realities" of the modern world and the almighty dollar .I refuse to forgive those who have betrayed this great club .I stand side by side with those who maintain their hatred of those that have wronged us ,who have robbed us ,and betrayed us . I may forgive one day but I will not forget .4 points

People will find any excuse to whinge instead of rejoicing that finally our boys are running out to play. They would have liked 34 but ended up only taking 29 because they are obviously managing loads and niggles etc. What would you prefer, they take 5 blokes who aren't 100% and break them before the season starts- give me a break (pardon the pun). It is also a mickey mouse round the first week of NAB and very rarely will players play all 3 pre-season games anyway. I would much prefer we have a stronger, better list available for games against real strong opposition in Collingwood and Hawthorn in the weeks to come anyway. Be happy people...2 points

Many moons ago, my father bought our first tv set and I remember the first interview I saw on World of Sport was of a then raw young Demon recruit Hassa Mann. I could barely understand what the kid from Merbein was saying. He spoke in a real country drawl that would make Chip sound positively articulate. Within a few years, he grew and developed and he was soon a leader at the club and working as an executive in business. Have fun at Frawley for not having a great deal of polish in an interview but I reckon he's a bloke who lets his football do his talking for him. He will develop in how he presents publicly over time.2 points

Beg your pardon. We still have the compo picks to use. How is Viney going to be able to scour the country for the best talent? We already have one of the small recruiting teams of the Mel based clubs and having the role split only demeans it further. I would be further worried that he is gifted the job for loyalty. Be nicer if we appointed the right person for the role on credentials. And the jury is indeed still out if we have outdone the other AFL recruiters at all. False sense of achievement. We have question marks over Morton, Strauss, Blease. We have 2 compo picks for Scully. And its early days on Watts, Trengove and others although their futures are good. Nothing to sit and party our laurels on at all. Quite the opposite. Much hard work still to be done.1 point

I'm with you man, more I see this guy, more he gets on my nerves with his little hop every time he talks and that nervous bloody voice. I want someone yelling at me with veins coming out of their neck bigger than my head. HEY! THIS IS DEE TV. HEY, HEYYYYYYY DEE TV! WHERE AM I?! I MUST LIFT THIS FRIDGE! Matt Burgan. His write-ups are decent though, points there son.1 point

I wouldn't say that Neeld has had Military Training but IMO he has certain similar characteristics that he uses that gets the same TEAM point across. Having served in the Army in the late 60's. If you were late for a meeting / parade or any other team event. Not only did you get punished but your whole team / unit got punished. They had a way of increasing your self discipline for the sake of the TEAM. AFL footy is all about doing things for the TEAM. Individuals / cowboys don't get rewarded ( except if you are $T $S) Mind you in my time since I have never been late for an appointment. Also most of my old Army mates will always turn up for an event at least 15min. early. A very good habit to have.1 point

I just can't believe that someone, knowingly, wrote nonsense on Twitter. It has to be true.1 point

Roost It your opion is 12 months old. Robinson was very good last season. He is a dirty player who I have no respect for, butthe fact is he would walk into the Melbourne side, and provide the hardness we lack. Back on topic - Watts will be a gun.1 point

Have a watch and get back to me. If you still think he's a dud and is a contributing factor to why 'Carlton won't win a flag' then we can end this debate. It will confirm that you know have a shallow understanding of the game AFL. Oh, and please stop using those corny comebacks. Time to reload cowboy? Seriously?1 point

Bobby, Bobby ... I'm both surprised and disappointed that someone who has as their forum name that of a player from the era of the great Norm Smith, could take that sort of an attitude. If there is one thing that Melbourne has lacked in the makeup of its coaches since Norm left was the ability to instil and exert proper discipline in the team (Northey was the only one who came close IMO). The excuse was always that times have changed and you can't treat young people the way they used to ... The truth is that strong teams have always been built on tight discipline and if Mark Neeld is going to succeed as a coach, the team must have discipline. All power to him. The result of the decisions to discipline Colin Sylvia and now Sam Blease will be felt in the future and that the players will develop great respect for what the coaches are seeking to achieve at the club which is to be successful. That's what this is about1 point

We at Demonland have thought long and hard about when is the appropriate time to put an end to the Voldemort threads and have come up with June 24, 2012 to enable us to come to closure with this person and his family. Anything to do with him will be finished, kaput, over after we give GWS a flogging in Round 13 including the thread dedicated to anything but the little creep him. That still leaves us with 122 days to bag the living suitcases out of the Little Lord and co. PS: if I forget, could someone please remind me of the date?1 point

I doubt very much that if circumstances were beyond his control that they would have sanctioned him. No problems whatsoever with a minor slap on the wrist (lets be honest, nobody is going to play every round of the NAB Cup anyway). It sends a strong message. I'd get a slap on the wrist/warning if I was late for a meeting, especially if I didn't notify anybody, which is what we can assume happened. Neeld is an [censored]. I love it!1 point

I thought we were all still angry about 186? I want full committment from these 'never-do-wells' and I don't care who you are. I want improvement from every one and higher standards for all. Until I see some actual Demons running around and playing with heart it's schadenfreude for me everytime a MFC player is punished or whipped on the track.1 point

Yes, it let every other player get there on time but stopped Sam at every intersection. I like it.1 point

Matt Burgan Is possibly the worst interviewer I've ever seen, its embarrasing they let him do it. Having a rambling vague interviewer who needs 30 words to say what can be said 4 doesnt help an interviewee either. Bit like the standard of play being dragged down when you play a poor standard footy team1 point
