Oh, Watts needs to improve on the ten good games he played last year?! He needs to improve his physicality?! You get frustrated by the MFC's 'soft' supporters? I get frustrated with those supporters who shift the goalposts for this team and its players. Watts had a good 2011, a number of supporters didn't think it would be as good as it was. But here we are and they can't see the forest for the trees. Why don't we keep the fire on the feet of those who actually didn't live up to expectations last year: Green, Davey, Petterd, the midfield as a whole, Moloney against decent teams, etc. This desire to keep Watts 'dancing' (that is a reference to shooting bullets at his feet) is getting tiresome for all concerned. Let's see how he reacts to the new FD and the preseason and actually wait until April to cast judgement.2 points

Thanks, the MFCs newest member; 'Viney', is doing quite well despite her mum's persistence in calling her by some other name.2 points

How do you know it was a realistic report, you weren't even there.2 points

You exaggerated the extent of the poor kicking and didn't take into account the conditions. In fact you didn't even mention the conditions during your critique. The two kicks out on the full you highlighted were a direct result of the wind. But you're providing a history lesson on shanks. Trengove did a complete shank, Blease missed short targets on his left foot, which he continually does, Gysberts spins it the wrong way, but usually hits his targets, Watts kicked over the head of an opponent when kicking out from the backline, Frawley missed one badly, Moloney got too much elevation a couple of times considering the wind, Joel Mac was errant when going wide, Troy Davis made a couple of errors, etc. But in tricky conditions it wasn't a particularly bad kicking session when compared to more favourable conditions and noticeably the coaching staff weren't perturbed. It's just a pity that most haven't been playing footy for 12 years, unlike your good self.2 points

This is what the dictionary says. Is a pretty fine line though when you start discounting players of Flowers ilk. su·per·star noun 1. a person, as a performer or athlete, who enjoys wide recognition, is esteemed for exceptional talent, and is eagerly sought after for his or her services. 2. any very prominent or successful person or thing e·lite noun 1. the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons. 2. persons of the highest class: Only the elite were there. 3. a group of persons exercising the major share of authority or influence within a larger group1 point

A kind poster has already fed your curiosity. In time you'll come to accept my word as gospel.1 point

Do you guys think there are 20 or so major sponsors out there waiting for the once in a lifetime opportunity to sponsor the Demons? Do you think that sponsors might know if they wait until week 1 they will get a better deal? Do you think the club are sitting in their office waiting fo rthe phone to ring? Sponsorships are very difficult to negotiate and deliver on.1 point

Do you need to do anything special to get the discount price? As it says they are still $25 when I look at all the games. Any help would be greatly appreciated.1 point

The Demon shop has about as much of an idea as you and me. They originally told me before Xmas, then late Jan, then late Feb, now before the start of the season.1 point

Opposition supporters only need look here to see that we are indeed a soft club. Why do the majority continue to accept all this half arsed rubbish? Neeld has given him a kick up the backside after coming from the most professionally run club within the AFL. Why is it that people go up in arms when a poster rightly says that Watts needs to learn how to attack the footy at 100 % intensity? Why do the coaches say it? Why do football media personnel say it? Why? Wake up!1 point

Silly call. I've been playing footy for 12 years now and I'd like to think most posters on here would have enough experience to know the difference between a 'wind affected' kick and a total shank. To help you out, here's some handy tips on how to spot a shank. Ask yourself these simple questions: 1. Is the footy is spinning forwards, not backwards in the air? 2. Does the footy goes at right angles off the boot? 3. Is Cale Morton about to have a shot at an open goal on the run? SHANKS1 point

Watts will grow into becoming an A grade footballer with maturity. Whether he becomes a true elite of the game will be dependant on how much he wants it and his ability to push himself the way the great forwards like Riewoldt and Brown have. To compare the attack of an inside midfielder like Jordie with Watts is apples and oranges. Freak his attack improved last year and was acceptable for a third year floating forward. He has a long way to go to becoming an elite key forward. Thinking this way does not make it an about face.1 point

Rehab Group: Tappy, Jordie, Spencer, Davey, Bartram, Williams, Viney, Evans, Grimes, Strauss. Jurrah and Sylvia did some drills with the main group but did not do the simulated match practice. Standouts: Watts, Howe, Jones, Clark, Gysberts Random Information: The AFL strictly control when clubs can start having Intra club practice matches and that is much of the reason why "situational" drills are played. Training was very much along the lines of previous reports. Warm up, three or four drills, two close in handball/blocking drills, one ball movement around the ground and then some "match simulation" stuff that involved a moderate level of physical contact. Session wasn't overly long, starting shortly after 9.45 and finishing by about 11.30.1 point

There will be a better one in three years time when he is holding up the cup!!!!1 point

I thought in a very poor midfield, Morton was very capable in his first year or two. Aside from the Collingwood debut game, i think the club have been very careful with Watts in their use of him. He was always going to take time. And I dont think he has been incapable but has warmed to the role being expected of him. I think his development is as expected.1 point
