  1. Lucky you, I check every few hours. What a pathetic life I lead.

  3. You're [censored] me right? We genuinely have the second best song running round in the AFL - only better one is Richmond.

  4. Happy to trade any of Jones, Moloney, Rivers, Davey, Green, Bate(not for nothing, still have small hopes), Dunn(delist), Warnock(delist), Spencer, Maric(delist), Spencer(delist), Campbell(delist). I'd even consider trading Jamar to land O'Meara. Wonaemirri needs to answer the question before starting next year otherwise delist To those who think we should trade Jurrah. Remember his biggest downfalls are his tank and his hardness. He'll be forced to work on his tank and as a born leader he'll grow into the hardness of AFL. He's a natural at the game and with strong coaching and leadership around him should flourish in this game. Only time will tell but I think trading him would be a massive mistake.

  6. There was another version put on the AFL themes album a few years ago and it was MUCH worse than this. This just seems like a slightly updated version of the old song with a stronger banjo added, don't know why it needs to be changed TBH.

  7. They have to trade the four picks for the 'mini draft' sometime over the next two years, it could be two this year and next or all four this year or all any other combination you could think of. If they don't trade any of them this year they might be able to pick O'Meara up next year in the draft as they'll most likely finish last unless Port get a PP before them. Of course he might not even be the favoured no.1 choice next year, a lot can happen in 12 months. But to clarify they're trading picks not players.

  8. Can't agree at all Lutz. The amount of times I have seen him doing anything to avoid kicking the ball. It's even to the point that the commentators joke about it regularly. I should admit though that I shouldn't comment on the quality of his kicking, as it is something I rarely ever see, but he quite obviously doesn't have confidence in it. I don't understand how you can't see that, but to each their own.

  9. Patrick Dangerfield. At least if we had him we'd have either he or Colin Sylvia play a good game each week. I know you have to give something to get something and that Tapscott's name has just been raised as a hypothetical, but I cannot believe that after watching the finals series, good posters could even suggest that trading one of our few hard-bodied, courageous youngsters with good disposal would be a good idea. I'm not sure what 'limitations' Tapscott has that cannot be worked on under a potentially decent new coach. Particularly if we are giving Morton the benefit of the doubt that he can bulk up, and Strauss the leeway that he might produce something close to what Tapscott has shown, after resuming from lengthy recovery.

  10. It's never a good time for a player to break a bone in his foot but Jack Grimes' injury was the worst piece of bad timing imaginable for the player and the club. It's well documented that we lost a number of players through injury during that weekend and the next (as well as Jack Trengove for three weeks for executing a perfect tackle on Dangerfield who was so badly hurt that he played one of his few decent games for the year and kicked 6 goals just 6 days later) but losing Grimes for the rest of the season was a double disaster. When the club recruited Grimes he was better known as a midfielder who also had some success when going forward. He played a fantastic game for Vic Metro (as skipper of the team) against WA in the 2007 national under 18s. At Melbourne, he had capably filled the role of a defensive flanker but a move into the middle was on the cards. In the week before the Adelaide game when he was injured, Grimes attended a Devil's Advocates function and told a few of us at our table that he had been doing some training with the midfielders and he was pretty hopeful that he would start there against the Crows. That's exactly what happened but history will record that he lasted on the ground for no more than four minutes after getting one of the game's first possessions. Our midfield was crying out for that extra classy player (it still is) but we can only wonder at what might have been but for that unfortunate break. In any event, I hope the new coach recognises his potential to go into the middle, that he gets his chances there and that he remains relatively injury free in the future.

  16. Got a lot of love for Jordie. The grunt in our midfield for sure. My only gripe is terrible kicking and insistence upon doing anything other than kicking. Sometimes when searching for a handball rather than a kick he really ups the pressure on himself. We have got ourselves a star in this kid, and if they can teach him to kick and have confidence in his kicking, we will have a deadset superstar.

  17. Now that I've had time to think this through a bit, I still think they are tied together. The want is useless without the do, and the do doesn't exist without the want. Each of them implies the other, and either of them in isolation have no meaning. This is getting a tad on the abstract side though, really.

  18. It's actually impressive, the way we on Demonland can manage to turn ANY thread in to an opportunity to bag Morton. The guy had a bad year, give him a break FFS.

  19. There is an interesting view from an ex Lions Assistant Coach - they believe Cale is a gun who hasn't been developed properly. He hasn't been played to his strengths and tried to be made to be something he isn't. I think people don't realize the elite endurance Cale has and we know, when he has confidence, he can find the pill. He has more than these two strengths but they are underestimated. Rest assured the new coach will basically start again with Cale - play him to his strengths, give him confidence. I believe it's not too late for him and that with some time he may well flourish.

  20. He's obviously loved by the club, and he's also loved by me. Keep up the good work Jordie - can't think of a player who I'd be more pleased for to see carrying the cup on Grand Final day.

  23. Jamie seems to have most of the attributes to be a very damaging player off HB or wing. His ball handling skills and pace are near the elite level. The problem is that we only see occasional cameos, and he then 'goes missing' for a quarter or more. I have no idea why this has become the norm with Jamie. Is it lack of desire / willingness to impose himself on the game(?), poor endurance (?), lack of confidence (?), the absence of a settled role within the team (?). Who knows? If Mark Neeld and his team can identify and address the problem(s), I think we will have a star on our hands, if they don't, then Jamie is in danger of falling by the wayside. 2012 is a very important year for him. Edit: Spelling

  24. Cook was injured mate, didnt even finish the year with Casey, Fitzpatrick has "upside" i know but is very mobile for his size and is big like 198 no? I think we need another Class Mid more than a developing forward atm
