Certainly not overawed. Exciting athleticism. A beautiful kick for goal or on the pass.

If he maintains those skills plus gains a greater awareness of where to run and how to operate at this level then we will have a player who is special.

He single-handedly made the trainwreck that was last night's game watchable for me. Fantastic debut and, as H said, was robbed of a goal from a piss-poor effort from his teammates.

Fantastic debut. Exceed all my expectations, showed glimpses of brilliance, and brings excitement to a team that otherwise is devoid of it.

That was pathetic from us. But it's not the first time it's happened. I've seen that occur plenty of times, this was the first time it cost us though.

I was bloody furious that shot wasn't shepherded through.

However, on reflection I was just so happy with how Jurrah went back and took the shot. First game, marks on 50, happy to have a shot from 52-53 and didn't even seem like he got all of it.

Don't think I've been this excited after a debut since Davey burst onto the scene.

My best mate who is a mad swans supporter asked me 'why cant the swans find a player like Jurrah.' I told where he had come from and how raw he is and he was even more impressed.

Early days yet but it has been far too long since a player for Melbourne has made others sit up and take notice likr that.

Only 4? Seriously, I was so proud of him last night. Regardless of how good his game was, just to be out there was a monumental achievement. It's interesting that a comparison with Goodes was made, as I believe that once Liam's fitness improves - after he has completed a couple of pre-seasons - he could end up as a ruckrover/midfielder. Back in Yuendumu he often played spells in the ruck due to his terrific leap. Early days yet, and like Watts, he'll have ups and downs along the way, but his potential is phenomenal. The one great asset he's got is also his inner strength and self belief. He might appear shy off the field, but when he's on the ground he's like the king of the jungle - the ground is his domain and he won't be intimidated by anyone.

I seriously love this guy when goes near the footy, hes the kind of player that could draw crowed to watch the freakish things he can do (no pressure mate). Being at the game i also saw Aussie outside the stadium boy he looked really stockish bloody tank, must be really hitting the weights but he always was pretty big. Also with Watts i recon he had more of an impact this week he should just focus on winning the ball and not doing anything special seeing as that what everyone expects. I didnt expect to win lats night but did get very vocal those bloody umpires!

As someone said the excitment is building and i cant wait to see weer the like watts jurrah wona blease etc are in the side say 1 year down the track.

I agree. I thought he needed to work on his pace, and apparently he'd done that pre-season and was set for a big year.

It's really disappointing that he's been so injury-plagued so far this year.

Wonna doesn't have great strait line speed, but is quick to react & to evade, so to mine extra strength to break tackles & to tackle should be a bonus.

The thing that really excited me about that passage was that having actually NOT marked it his brain was already searching for what to do and he was acting/reacting in one continuous motion.. Qquite brilliant really... In a sense a lot of players can take speckies ( or miss them ..cough..Robbo..cough ) ut still making a silk purse out of a sours ears is a real art..and rare !!

Yep, he seemed quite at home out there. Once he got his bearings and got up to speed he was all over the place. As an indication of things to come...just drool material isnt it. We seldom have had that at Deeland !!

Glad to see you enjoyed yourself Rudeboy. Despite the result, it was a significant night for the club and a special night for yourself. LJ's goal was one of few highlights for the club this season. Loved it.

That was what was so impressive to me, Liam just didn't look daunted at all. He looked as relaxed as he might have been playing in barefeet in the middle of nowhere as he did playing his first AFL game in front of 46,000. Reads the play well, looks to make good decisions with the ball and is clean by hand and foot.

I was impressed with what I saw of him playing for Casey at Princes Park last week. I was ten times more impressed with what I saw of him at Docklands last night.

I think we've got something pretty special here. Can't wait to see where this goes.
