Neitz out for 8

applying for long-term injury list

apparently it's been troubling him all through pre-season, but flared up on sunday

hate to say it, but it's probably best for both parties atm

gives valenti a chance, and neitz to come back when his body's right (and yze's retired) for a nice swansong

it sounds like its more of a painful injury, rather than one that could cause harm or long-term damage

he just can't play through the pain that its causing

i've got my fingers crossed for my boy valenti.

agree with Neita having ONE last game in him.

i dont want him to have a last game, he will probably play badly, the players will probably become nietz conciouss...in my opinion, if he leaves now he will still be going out on a high becuase no one will remember the last 5 weeks in the longer scheme of things...we could have a special game for him and have a parade ya di da, with the car etc...

but i dont see a point of a last game, i think he is best to retire now with his head high refresh his body

Coldnt disagree more, Nugget

It cant end this way. It wont.

If anybody deserves a send off game, it is Neita.

I want the chance to go to the MCG to see him play one more time. Knowing it will be his last ever contest with the MFC. it will be sad, but it will be great to see him out there once more, and how amazing it would be if he kicked a bag.

Maybe Round 22?

yeah it would be great YM...i want him to have a proper send off, but if he plays again, im worried that it will be the same as the first 5 rounds this year and the club will go down, neitz might kick 1 and his last game will forever go down as being horrible...i would prefer him to have a big send off with fireworks, a car, the whole lot...

on the other hand, if he came back and played a blinder and we won, i would prefer that, but i just cant see it happening.

Taking pure economics, Having big neita play one last home game should bring in some extra people.

Even if we can't carry him off the ground, i really would like to see him sent off in a guard of honour.

I don't want the last memory of Big Neita's career sitting on the bench and slowly walking off towards the changerooms.

I have to agree to with you.

Neita deserves a send off game, especially since we are not playing for finals here.

F*%^@. Rotten stinking luck  :(

Neita MUST play a send off game!!! To not send him off would just seem wrong considering how muhc he has given the club.

I agree he should be put on the IR list. It gives a chance to an up and comer to step in and show something. Valenti would be head of the rookie class at this point to grab Neitas spot.

I absolutely agree, and what's more, I'll bet that Neita won't allow his career to finish like this. He'll work through his injury, announce his retirement and then beat the hell out of whoever he comes up against in his farewell match. Dunno who we play in the last few rounds (I know Port is one of them), but if we play MCG in round 22, there would be a huge crowd.

I hear that it's been confirmed that Valenti has been promoted? Can anyone confirm this? (lol).

Great news regarding Valenti, terrible luck for Neita...get well big fella, hopefully by the time you get back we might have hit a bit of form and will be able to give you the send off you deserve.

I can't believe the sentimentality bullsh!t that goes on here.

Facts:

1. Neita is playing absolute crap.

2. Neita as captain this year has shown (on-field) zero leadership

3. Neita looks very slow. I reckon Whitnall could outrun him right now.

Allowing players to play a "Farewell Game" because they used to be a star is the sign of a soft & pathetic culture.

Stamp that sh!t out.

Players need to earn EVERY single game they wish to play in the Red and the Blue.

Redandblue you are a flogger. As usual your posts are ill thought and stupid. He is the only person who deserves a farewell match on our list. If you were ever at games you may understand exactly how highly thought of he is, and how much he has done for the club. Soft and pathetic describes you're nether regions.

Yes my nether regions are flaccid at the moment. I find it hard to be aroused by the likewise flaccid performances of the Dees. I have been know to be a flogger but , like the Dee's, I have no hardness.

I guess when we are 0-21 we may as well start up his wheelchair and let him sit in the forward line for a couple of hours. I guess it wouldn't hurt - its not like the ball comes down there with any purpose very often.

Don't get me wrong. Plenty of times in the past Neita has me standing to attention with his orgasm-inspiring performances- but I fear that is where such performances shall remain- in the past.

so you are happy with neitz form so far huh dalrot?

and at least be amusing with insults.

Its not a question of form. Neitz is a club legend.

Games record holder, goals record holder, most games captained, first MFC player to 300 games. Pretty sure the bloke deserves a fitting farewell after he carried the team for years.

Come back when you have followed the club for longer than 5 minutes and maybe you will understand.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
