I cannot bear to KB rattling on for one moment longer. It is especially annoying that he does not understand that Hall received his 25% penalty reduction for his apparent 5-year "clean record" rather than any guilty plea. Most of his callers are similarly moronic. I've got a headache.

Once a case is referred directly to the tribunal, there is no provision for an automatic 25 per cent reduction in the sentence for a "clean record" or guilty plea. It's purely up to the discretion of the tribunal members.

In this case, the tribunal chairman "strongly suggested" that the tribunal members take into account Hall's contrition and his admittance of guilt.

So, in effect, Hall did receive a discount for a guilty plea, but not because it was mandated by tribunal law.

So why not suspend the reduction! ;)

SO, Hall received a 25% cut for pleading guilty and nothing for his apparent clean record (other than financial sanctions). It makes no sense for a player's bad record to be applied by the Tribunal in respect of final penalty (recall Stephen Baker) and a good record (see Hall) to be ignored. Hall surely is qualified to receive the reduction upon those grounds. The reduction in relation to plea is up to the Tribunal's discretion and a double reduction in the circumstances would surely have been seen as excessive, nay, unacceptable.

Your contention is then that Hall's recent record was not taken into account despite an obligation to do so.

Meanwhile, speculation about captain David Neitz announcing his retirement from the game is, according to Aaron Davey, just talk.

“It’s just rumours I guess, and I hope he’s not (retiring),” Davey said.

“Might be hard for me to kick a goal I guess if David Neitz isn’t playing, crumbing the ball off him.

“He’ll be right, he’ll bounce back. Everyone’s just got to wait and I’m sure he’ll turn it on on Sunday”

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
