The New Look MelbourneFC

Just to summerise what has been one of the biggest pre seasons this club has gone through and we are not even half way yet...

it all started early with Neale Daniher stepping down as top dog and soon the word started to spread that this man was in contention for the job

ACTIVITY-339.jpg

soon after this, after two of the favourites for the top job in Bond and Mckenna were given the boot, Dean Bailey was given the job and suddenly "the man who applied for the job through a newspaper article" had everyone wondering what he was like....nathan burke soon raised our exitement with "i wish i was coached by this bloke."

Then out went

along with Peter Curran and Chris Fagan and there were lots of spots to be filled in little time....

we also saw the retirement of three greats in byron, bizzell and snoop doggy dogg

then witnessed the delistings of godfrey, ward, some of our rookies and soon after said goodbye to the Ferg burger

Then along came the Chris Judd saga....Demonland forums hit record highs and suddenly people were betting money on his move to Melbourne and the story was "as big as when Ron Barassi left Melbourne, if not bigger"....it was a sad day for Melbourne faithful as we saw pictures like this

Also, there was an influx of new faces coming into the club soon thereafter..two new assitants, two new developmental coaches, a new football operations manager, who is apparantly "one of our favourite sons" in Chris Conolly...

Then along came trade week and contreversy arised over the Travis Johnstone situation and we were saddened when we saw this

post-1842-1196311322_thumb.jpg

however we then welcomed John Meeson and five new draftees to the club, two of which have grabbed early attention bieng cale morton and addam maric who according to YM "is the next Wiz"

Behind the scenes, the club also announced a new sponsor in reebok and we saw the demise of the demon moniker and welcomed our new logo

post-1842-1196311468_thumb.jpg

and said goodbye to the old alternative strip when this contreversial design came into our lives

post-1842-1196311809_thumb.jpg

Now with many weeks still left until the start of the season, Melbourne faithful are left wondering "can we still secure the services of CAC" and who we will pick up in the rookie draft and PSD, and who will be captain next year...and who will step up...it leaves us thinking that preseasons arent us boring as many of us thought that they were

ive forced myself to like the logo because we will have to get used to it...however the jumpers isnt too good

Good write up Nugget.

I can't wait for the first game and as we all stand to cheer the players as they run out on the ground with the battlecry of -

Go the Red and Blue squares with white writing in them

logo is fine, i have come to like it the more i see it, simple but its us. The alt strip is fine also, we will only see it once every blue moon so its not such a worry!

Everything that has happened since the end of last season i have enjoyed , im excited for our club, our club is entering a new phase but respecting the heritage at the same time. Bailey has not stepped a foot wrong in my books, i know he hasn't coached a game but from what he has had to do i think he speaks very impressively and professional. The draft picks i am very excited about also. In my books Melbourne FC is going places and im excited to go through the journey involved.

what the hell the alt strip is crap, they want to get rid of the demon logo, the new logo after the current new one will be a dragon, the team is going to go yellow it wont work because the Chinese dont really have a sporting culture and will not became members with Melbourne fc, but Melbourne fc, should go into the casino business they love the punt

this dragon crap will not happen, and if it does it will get shot down..dont worry about that...it is huge to say that we are trying to get china into football. and if u asked 99.99% of the people in China what AFL is, they wouldnt know and they also wouldnt know that melbourne just visited the country....but it was a good idea by melbourne because there are a lot of chinese that come here to study and are going to inevitably see football matches...and also, melbourne is making the new logo for many many other reasons than just china, which have all been mentioned in other posts if you bothered to read them...

ie)-more mature look

-more simplistic approach

-more noticable logo (a lot of people already thaught that that was the logo because of the bumber stickers)

-creating ONE image so people know who and what is MELBOURNEfc

etc, etc, etc

my point is that developing the game in parts of china is a bit of an experiment but who knows, we may have discovered a great place for footballers and might have a couple of Jim Stynes equivilants runnning around the park in 10 years (but with different couloured skin and different accents)

dont know what you mean by "going to go yellow," we are just trying to broaden our options and if it helped get 100 more members each year, it has done its job

ya know ya dead right...

wouldnt want any Dragon players now would we >>

no one like

......

might make a fair ruck...lol

A moniker (or "monicker") is a pseudonym, or cognomen, which one gives to oneself. The meaning is distinct from nickname, in that a nickname is generally given to one by another, and not chosen for oneself. from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moniker

we are still the melbourne demons. our mascot is still a demon. our logo now says melbournefc instead of being a picture of a demon.

the demon with the m was a logo not a moniker.

and technically as long as we continue to call us the dees or the demons we still have that as our moniker.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
