"IF" this Tj to WCE rumor were true, why would we be happy when word is that Sydney is offering a higher pick? Pick 11 vs pick 15. It would seem more likely that the swans chase him, as half of their list is now over 50!

I would take pick 15 for trapper. I would love to get pick 15 and Beau Waters for Trapper- but I am dreaming.

The time is now to trade TJ. As started we will build around our 23 and younger players. We have a number of older players. TJ will be 28 next season and have almost zilch trade value by the end of next season. Trade'em while you can still get something half decent so we can build.

The maggs were smart trading Tarrant into last years super draft.

I would even consider Green and Bruce as very tradeable for the right deal.

Don't get rid of talent just to get rid of it.

If we get a very good offer, then let TJ go. Otherwise, try and get some value out of him in his last 3/4 years on the field.

Not everyone has to 23 and under. In fact that would be unworkable with so much youth. You need senior leaders.

If we have any...

Johnathon Hay was swapped for two first round picks and you would swap Travis for one second round pick. Not me.

We won't get 2 first round picks, we'll barely get one the way things are looking.

If Bailey thinks TJ is more harm than good, we'll offload him for a lesser price. It all depends how seriously Bailey is about discarding him.

TRAVIS Johnstone stepped off a plane from Thailand last night to decide where he wants to play football next year. It is unlikely to be at Melbourne.

The Brisbane Lions and Sydney are among the clubs to have expressed keen interest in the classy midfielder, with the Lions believed to be the strongest candidate to acquire the Demons' former No. 1 draft pick.

Johnstone remains tied to Melbourne for 2008 on a substantial contract, which could be the main obstacle to a deal.

There was speculation last night that Johnstone, should he agree to move north, could be traded to Brisbane for pick 14, which the Lions would be likely to receive from Collingwood for ruckman Cameron Wood.

Perhaps mindful of improving its pace through the midfield, Melbourne joined Richmond in interest in the Bulldogs' Jordan McMahon. Port Adelaide similarly retains an attraction to the former South Australian, but it is believed McMahon is less excited about a return to Adelaide.

While I am still reluctant to trade TJ, pick 14 is a very good offer. However, if we were to accept this deal it would be a clear sign that we are seeking to do what Hawthorn have done (start from scratch with youth). This means that a rapid rise up the ladder is not really on the cards.

if we trade Johnstone for pick 14, i would be reasonably happy. there are atleast 14 quality players in this draft, and if one top 10 slipped through, we could easily pick up a gem!

it would probably be a fair trade as well. johnstone is 27 turning 28. he would really help add experience and class to a young brisbane team.

MFC are looking for picks so that we can build a team around our under 23 yr olds.

our 27 yr olds are dispensible because they are viewed as the cream (rather than the core) to any tilt at the premiership we have in the next 3 years.

top 12 draftees:

Kruiser, Morton, Cotchin, Masten, Grant, Palmer, McEvoy, Ebert, Rance, Henderson, Rioli, Myers

i dont claim to be an expert of this years draftees. this means that there will certainly be atleast a couple highly rated youngsters in the top 10 which i dont know about...

my point is, that if any of these 12 slip to 14 we should be stoked.

pick 14= a good draft pick

article seems alot of rubbish to me

"Geelong coach Mark Thompson also called frustrated Brent Prismall yesterday to placate the midfielder, after the player had asked the club on Monday to trade him.

The 21-year-old is under contract for next year and would have required the club's co-operation to move, but equally, the Cats would not have wanted to retain a player who did not want to remain."

I SPOKE TO BRENT MONDAY... AND PERHAPS HE IS LYING TO ME. BUT HE SAID HE DOUBTED HE WAS GOING ANYWHERE AND SEEMED PRETTY RELAXED.

"Johnstone remains tied to Melbourne for 2008 on a substantial contract, which could be the main obstacle to a deal."

Pretty big obstacle if u ask me. now u can talk about all the trades u want ... but if trav wants to stay which i think he will. he wont be going nowhere.

if we are gonna get 14 from brisban for jonstone ... i cant see the point in keepin jamar, miller may as well get as many first round picks as we can... and start young and fresh.

If we did get pick 12, I would be ecstatic

Someone rated in the top 10 will fall and we will snap them up

Likely candidates - Ben McEvoy, Cyril Rioli, Tom Collier, Alex Rance

PS Jordan McMahon can get stuffed, he is softer then everyone on our list.

Dunno if you remember much about the Demons/Bulldogs game later in the year when we smashed them

Out of the 44 players that took part in the game, McMahon was the worst on the field and by a long way

I think he gave away about 8 free kicks, a few in front of goal. He turned the ball over by foot an a few occasions

He was terrible, I still remember sitting back thinking how bad he was in the middle if enjoying the Demon goal avalanche

So in other words - no to Jordan McMahon

Geelong- premiers- pick 17 (because of the priority picks)

Port- runners up- pick 16

Kangaroos- prelim exit - pick 15

Collingwood- prelim exit- pick 14

Collingwood DO have pick 14!

Jaded, you should be in bed

But I think you are right

I think the obstacle is not the desire of TJ to stay at Melbourne, but the meaning behind the phrase 'substantial contract'.

Maybe that's why TJ's name is always bandied about come trade week, but no one bites.

TJ has one year to run, it's worth paying a % of that contract for the remaining year to get the deal done.

I remember his form was poor late in the season but wouldn't go one one game alone because every player has a poor patch. I wonder if a trade of McMahon for Jamar or Miller with a minor adjustment of draft picks would be on the cards?

I dont want Mcmahon, yze magic is right, he was slaughtered against us, and whilst not too bad going forward i think he a very average defender.

In the game v Melbourne in Round 19 he did give away a few free kicks (4 actually) but he still had 16 disposals in what was considered a poor game.

Howver, his season highlights include

# 20 disposals (13 kicks 7 handballs), 10 marks and 4 tackles in Rd 15 33-pt win over Essendon at Docklands Stadium (14 Jul 2007)

# 22 disposals (18 kicks 4 handballs) and 7 marks in Rd 14 20-pt win over Port Adelaide at Docklands Stadium (7 Jul 2007)

# 22 disposals (17 kicks 5 handballs) and 12 marks in Rd 12 26-pt win over Fremantle at Marrara Oval (16 Jun 2007)

# 23 disposals (19 kicks 4 handballs) and 10 marks in Rd 4 32-pt win over Richmond at the MCG (20 Apr 2007)

# 25 disposals (20 kicks 5 handballs) and 9 marks in Rd 3 50-pt loss to St Kilda at Docklands Stadium (14 Apr 2007)

# 26 disposals (19 kicks 7 handballs) and 3 marks in Rd 2 38-pt loss to Adelaide at the MCG (8 Apr 2007)

# 30 disposals (16 kicks 14 handballs) and 4 marks in Rd 1 20-pt win over Geelong at Docklands Stadium (1 Apr 2007)

He plays a different position but that's about 10 times Jamar's average output isn't it?

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
