Judd to Melb

Ok. What Hutchie said is this:

Judd to Melb for picks 3, 9 and 21.

Pick 9 we will get for Frawley to St Kilda.

Now, not saying it's true. Simply saying that, as a matter of absolute fact, that is the word from Hutchie.

He said we want to get it done early in trade week.

Did you hear this yourself mate?

a reliable friend of mine's dad is going to the grand final with Judds aunty. She says melbourne is his choice. more food for thought.

A guy who makes the coffee in a cafe where Judd once visited, told his paperboy, who told his teacher, who never tells fibs, that she had passed on to my accountant's son's mate who drives a cortina, that Judd is coming to the Dees.

This whole ordeal has in my opinion been another cross against the reputation of the sporting media. I hope they feel embarrassed when Melbourne sign Chris Judd. If some of them are still shaking their heads and ondering 'why?' then perhaps they should be looking for new modes of employment next year. Throughout the process, they've led the public down the garden path with their ill-considered and narrow-minded opinions. I'll lump them all together because the general vibe ebbed from one group idea to the next, but most of them generally made a couple of key mistakes when assessing the situation:

1. Failing to consider both sides of the trading equation: At first it was "Judd to Carlton!" Who could forget the sickening superimposed picture of Judd in a Carlton guernsey in the Hun? Simply because Carlton had the highest picks, this didn't mean that Chris Judd would want to play for them. He had to nominate them as a team to West Coast for any deal to be done. In the end, Carlton weren't prepared to match Melbourne's offer by the sounds of things anyway. Likewise, the next favour of the month was Collingwood. Notoriously shonky dealers in trade week, I don't think it was ever a fait accompli that Judd would have gone to Collingwood even if he had nominated them alone. The PSD would have been a real option. They failed to see that Melbourne could satisfy both criteria: being attractive to Judd, and having something to offer West Coast. Realistically, none of the other clubs could satisfy both.

2. I think the biggest mistake the media and the non-Melbourne supporting public made was to underestimate the Demons. I think the fact that Judd barracked for the Demons as a child and his family are still Melbourne fans had to mean something. What kind of self-respecting Melbourne fan could play for Collingwood by choice anyway? But more so, I think we are selling ourselves short if we think the only reason he has chosen Melbourne is because of his childhood yearning to pull on the red and blue. We hear people bemoaning our facilities - they'll be fixed in a year. People questioned our list - the best Victorian team last year, and completely ravaged by injury in 2007. I'm sick of hearing people moan "Why would he go to Melbourne?" Do some research into Judd's criteria and you'll find out.

I'm thinking once Judd is in the fold, Melbourne won't be quite the same irrelevant sideshow that media spanners choose to neglect in future.

Now THAT, my friends, is one excellent post

A week ago some Geelong bugger I was chatting with laughed at me and treated me like I was an imbecile or a lunatic for even suggesting we were a chance of getting him - even though the facts of the matter clearly had us in at least the top5 chances and at least 15-20% chance. We need this one BAD.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
