Yep, everyone here on Demonland would know.

I assume you all sat in during the interviews and presentations. You must have, you guys know everything.

The Essendon Board sat around on Monday arvo, and thought to themselves, "lets hire the bloke who presented worst, that would be good for a bit of a laugh".

It's funny, I read Bomberblitz, but don't post there because of the narrow mindedness of alot of the posters there. This seems to be creeping into Demonland.

Anyone dumb enough to write Matty Knights off the day after he is appointed is very narrow minded.

That's fair enough re writing Knights off.

But still, would be interested on your thoughts on the conduct of the Board.

It seems to me that the Board has handled this badly. I think it would clearly have been preferable to appoint Knights before strategising for 2008 and meeting with Judd. It's a hard call for Judd to go to Essendon when he didn't know their direction, coach or philosophies.

I knew about Knights about 2 weeks ago, so that suggests to me that the only reason they held off is because they were hoping for Thompson. Now, although the fact Geelong is in a GF can't be helped, Essendon needed to act like a big and "arrogant" club and say to Bomber's management "Here's how we are doing things. Tell us if you're in or out". Now you have the Geelong coach having held up your process.

So I am not critical of the coaching appointment at all, but certainly I think the board has made some pretty big and potentially very detrimental mistakes.

where did I say i wrote him off ?? I didnt

I just am bemused at the method and descision to pick him. It just flew in the face of their stated agenda.

That plus one of the most surprised people about Matty Knights appointment is............ Matty Knights !!

so they are either chasing an AFL Premiership contender coach or.... something very diferrent !!

we'll just call it inspired for the moment :)

Oops! Looks like I might have upset a few of our friends at Bomberblitz! Still, provided me with a few laughs and proved what morons most of them are - not you, Ash!

Listen to them all..what a bunch of idiots..their argument is that they have more members on bomberblitz than we do here...quality not quantity

I think that was mainly Ray Horsburghs criteria.

And thankfully, he isn't the only one selecting the coach.

Not all of them are pathetic.

"We can laugh as much as we like about them but the posters over there are absolutely and 100% about our club's mishandling of the coaching issue. You can keep shooting the messengers and firing cheap shots at them if it makes you feel better but let's get our own house in order first. "

Precisely.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
