Someone floated the idea that on radio...Gary O'Donnell's name came up to a Melbourne assistant position...was he at essendon when bailey was?? don't think so but maybe someone would know?

And now for the conspiracy theory! Had Riley spoken to Carlton prior to that farcical last game to ensure Carlton lost and gained the priority pick? Makes you think.

Tallstuey , you will be probably in the minority here thinking it would be better if Riley remained. He represents a failed era. Your entitled to your opinion of course, dont expect much in the way of support.

Correct-clean out and start again-the new Power Era begins today......

aaaaargh h!!! pmsl :D Oh I luuuuurv a good conspiracy !!!

I think it was just more his ineptitude to sum up the situation properly and collude WITHIN Melbourne ranks to assure us of a better pick. Carlton lucked out in the first place, whether they do a second time is anyones guess...and more the point, NOT our problem any more :)

Its a stupid and childish stance to have anything against Mark Riley.

What could be argued as stupid was to not ensure Melbourne went into teh trade scenario better placed. Just for a moment imagine if Carlton didnt have the picks they have right now in the Judd context !!!!

You want a conspiracy theory???

Punter going down at the 20/20 world cup and out for the rest of the tournament. Funny how he's the #1 Kangaroos ticket holder, and should they get through to the Granny, Ricky might be spotted in the crowd come GF day. There's your conspiracy !!!

Not a bad theory and Ponting must be one hell of an optimist!

With todays confirmation that Carlton have secured the services of our caretaker coach Mark Riley, we have now lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of player and coaching knowledge (that relates specifically to our team) at the top end. Daniher, Fagan and now Riley have all departed.

Mark Riley had another year of his contract to run. What is the point in having contracts if we do not enforce them. I understand it would have been difficult for Mark to spend 12 more months in an assistant role when he had been a stand in coach but at the end of the day, that is what he was hired to do and would have done if Neale had remained until the season's end.

His knowledge would have been invaluable for Dean Bailey during a one year crossover or transition period.

I am a little angry at the MFC for allowing him to step away from his commitments and unless there are special circumstances we don't know about, I ask the club to "PLEASE EXPLAIN" - HONESTLY and issue a press release or e-mail to members.

-I disagree, I want Bailes to make his own judgement of the team without danihers loyal influence (ie godfrey, ward, miller, giving up jolly). this way dean bailey can come in and make a fresh start and the players will have to EARN his respect. That's right...play well or there a GONER!! currans gone, rileys gone, fagans gone, danihers gone, now we have BAILEY, CONOLLY, and some new coaches who we dont really know too much about. i just hope the fitness coach lifts his game under deans instruction or is cut. go dees

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
