Murphy is only 192cm, the same height as Bate and Dunn, both of whom are generally thought to be too short to hold down a key position. He should not be trageted for trade IMO.

Just on this issue of 192cm being too short to be a key position player, I'd like to mention the following:

Matthew Pavlich - 192 cm

Chad Cornes - 192 cm

Wayne Carey - 192 cm

These three were/are all much bigger than Newton, Dunn and Bate but these three boys are only 20. I would expect one or two of them may very well develop into the weight/strength required to be a key position player. To be honest, I haven't given up hope of Jared Rivers becoming a Chad Cornes type CHB if he can ever stay injury fre.

What do people think of a possible trade between Miller to the Dogs for McMahon?

They need a leading foward of some description, and we could use a bit more run off the half back line. McMahon is a bit of an unfulfilled talent case, and has fallen out of favour a couple of times this year(he was horrible last night). Could be a win-win for both clubs.

Exactly.

The only way to turn Pickett or Ward into the next Bartram or Petterd is to turn them into draft picks.

However, we could turn Bode into the next Whelan, or Garland into the next Newton, simply by waiting another year.
