TRAINING: Tuesday 14th April 2026

Featured Replies

The first group is out on the park. There are 12 in this group. The second group is due to come out when this group finishes up at 12:15pm

Also, coz I have the attention span of a moth I had to ask three times about training times for this week. I’m gonna list them now lest I have to ask a fourth time which would stretch the friendship.

Tomorrow: main training at Gosch’s at 10am

Thursday: players have a day off

Friday: training at Casey

Saturday: captain’s run at Gosch’s at 10:30am

It went for 10 mins only. Now they’re doing drills with actual footballs!

If you get a chance Ghostwriter can you quizz Riv, I am concerned at the lack of info available, I had him pencilled in for a future leadership role at the club and we are certainly missing his run and carry out of the backline. Particularly with Bowey, CJ and now possibly Salem out injured. Thanks.🙏

I’ve mentioned about Riv plenty

P.F part 1 of implosion now taking place!

I used to get dragged if I didnt bend down to pick up the ball. Kicking off the ground this year has become a thing. Mixed results.

Kolt and Salem should not be playing soccer. At least Salem makes contact.

I am starting to see this translate on field. The number of passes Kozzy and Trelly do by foot is astronomically more than previous seasons. It comes off a fair bit of the time as well.

I must have missed it Dannyz all that I recall is a growly knee but glad that he played in the simulation vs Bombers on the weekend.

On the contrary, I thought Kozzy missed a disturbingly high number of targets on the weekend

Yep I think he was mentioned on the podcast this week as being a poor ball user.

In saying that, we would have been facked without him.

You mean MORE facked?

give us the goss if luker is debuting

This was #1 on my things to do list. There were no coaches in attendance so I had to ask the boy himself. He said he doesn’t think he’ll be debuting this week. He said, “… because there’s only Jake (Melky) out.” I don’t know what that means.

@Ghostwriter any update on the training?

Sounds like a very light session?

Very light indeed. Lots of goal-kicking practice though. Trelly was slotting them nicely. Kozzie, not so much. But I think Kozzie was just playing around, he was in that sort of mood today.

I did too. He's in terrific form, but I feel like I need to concede that in the discussion I had on here with @Adam The God (I think) last year, where I talked about Kozzy's kicking being exceptional - I was wrong.

Earlier in the year Bowser said he was looking at returning for round 7. Today he said more likely it’ll be round 9. He said injury-wise he’s fine, he just needs to get up to the required fitness level. He’s absolutely keen to be back playing again.

Any word on how Viney is tracking, Ghosty?

As @Dannyz said a couple of weeks ago, Riv was listed as “omitted” rather than “injured” because he was omitted due his form but his form was being impacted by this knee niggle.

Riv confirmed this before the Suns game. He said he can actually train and even play, but they want to address the knee thing because it’s a long season.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
