2026 Possible Targets/Player Movement

Featured Replies

Unless there's a turnaround with Adams, I would have thought that a key defender would be high on the shopping list.

Also any mid that adds to what we have. Butters would be the dream, but it's a long queue and I wouldn't have thought that we were near the front of it. Similar for Humphrey, if he leaves GC he'll be naming his price.

I think Darcy Wilson should be high on our list. From the same draft as Windsor and Kolt and his skill set would really suit our new game style.

From Reddit

I watched Gettable so you don't have to - No Live Audience

- Cal provides his "destination club ladder" based on factors such as list profile, current ladder position, club size, cap space, and how active they are in the market

- Tier 1: Brisbane, Hawthorn

- Tier 2: Geelong, Sydney, Western Bulldogs

- Tier 3: Collingwood, Gold Coast

- Tier 4: Adelaide, Fremantle

- Tier 5: St Kilda, Melbourne, Richmond

- Tier 6: GWS, Port Adelaide, West Coast, North Melbourne, Essendon, Carlton

- The Gettable or Not Gettable gong returns

- Jed Walter is very Gettable amongst clubs like West Coast and Essendon

- Lachie Neale is expected to be chased by Adelaide, Victorian and West Australian clubs, and is likely out the door

- North Melbourne has started contract extension talks with Cooper Trembath

- Bodhi Uwland is set to sign a 4 year extension at Gold Coast to 2030

- Mitch Lewis is "still gettable" depending on what Hawthorn's forward line looks like the rest of the year

- Darcy Wilson is very Gettable, with a lot of Victorian clubs chasing him

- Hawthorn, Carlton, Melbourne and Collingwood will all chase Bailey Humphrey (GC) again this year

- Richmond is definitely not the only club that can go above $2mil for Zak Butters

- Reilley O'Brien (ADE) is definitely Gettable despite having 2 years left on his contract

- Victorian clubs will also be keen to chase Mitch Georgiades as well as the WA clubs, free agent next year

- Elijah Tsatas (ESS) and Alex Davies (GC), Tobie Travaglia (STK) are three more out of contract fringe players that are Gettable

- Beau McCreery (COL) is due for a big pay day next year, potentially around $1 mil a year

- Cody Walker (CAR F/S), Noah Williams, Kodah Edwards, Tanner Armstrong (RIC NGA), Wil Malady and Harry Van Hattum were the best for the Under 18s Australian side against North Melbourne VFL on the weekend

- Western Bulldogs NGA prospect Khaled El Souki has also shot into Top 20 calculations, however the Bulldogs may not have the picks to match a bid for him

Beau McCreery - $1m 😆😆😆😆😆

This is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read.

I’d take Toby off St kildas hands in a heartbeat

If we can hold some form throughout the season, I can see players being attracted to us.

Yep! If we can keep that ‘fun and dangerous’ attitude for the whole year even if we just miss out on finals or somehow make it, I think it gives us a real chance at attracting some decent players.

Will McLachlan, liked his work in preseason, definitely a player of interest, does what fritsch does, replaces melky and mcadam nicely, 3yr deal come on down.

take from the best, no way in at the lions any time soon for him but he has the minerals

Second this. Smart medium forward with good athleticism. OOC this year too.

I think we want to boost the midfield and find a full back.

Zak Butters is the dream.

Darcy Wilson and Finn Maginness (who is dominating at VFL level) would both suit the way we are playing. Both players are big, elite two way runners.

Mitch McGovern is having a good season and could be a stop gap solution as key forward/back of Carlton turn the list over. I know he is 32 (but so is Mihocek).

Leek Aleer had a good game on Friday night and could be the long-term full back we need.

Calsher Dear had a good season last year and is promising but can't get a consistant game.

GWS have a lot of small forwards with talent.

I am keeping an eye on Mitch Knevitt from Geelong as a potential target at the end of the year, especially if other midfield targets don't come to fruition

193cm Mid Forward who has shown midfield ability, can't get into Geelong's midfield and mainly plays as a forward when in the seniors.

Averaging 29 touches, 7 marks in 3 VFL games so far this year and is OOC at years end.

I would be targeting Darcy Wilson who very much would fit our game style and age profile and a mature age key back.
I would be looking to hold our two first rounders and targeting the two best mids or a mid and half forward/mid type.
I have no interest in Butters for the draft and salary cost it would consume.

Wilson would cost a decent first round pick.

last i heard is that wilson is one of those players who wants to get his big packet before he's got the runs on the board

he looks like he'll be a very good player but not sure he's worth $1m a season quite yet

I was going to ask why his name keeps coming up. Asking for a million a year as a third-year, less-than-50-gamer is a clear answer.

I know a million isn't what it was even five years ago, but that's a lot for a player is surely not (yet) a definite A-grader.

grew up a north fan and i think is seriously considering heading there

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
